i-it's a homage...
But all the comments keep saying some PS1 game
plebs
Which track in particular is it ripping off?
You better not say the general sound of it.
Shiverstar from Kirby 64? I don't know what song you're saying it sounds like.
start of each race
It's like 3 notes before it stops sounding anything like Zelda's lullaby
zelda lullaby
and?
It's not really plagiarism is it?
If I write a novel and write a sentence that is 30% the same as another author's, is that theft
>before I end this brief introduction, I would like to answer...
>before I end this brieg introduction, I would like to address...
Also, it is like 3 notes from that song and it lasts all of 3 seconds before the countdown
That's really not what people think when they hear "ripping off music". They think of instances like how an entire song will rip off the tune. For instance, Ice Ice Baby used the entire bass line to Under Pressure, or that one DBZ musician who ripped off every song in his career.

it is because they copied the style and the sound, not just the single notes
that's ripping off
>style
>sound
>not just notes
??? Are the notes not what makes the sound? How can you have a style if it is all just a compilation of notes?
>dude there are only 7 notes
This thread fucking sucks, post music to break the sound barrier to
It's an homage you stupid fuckers

Friendly reminder that X has the superior OST.

How about you start off the thread with posting an actual example?
The MGS theme is stolen from a Russian composer, it's why they stopped using the theme in the MGS game.
True, absolutely.
But how do rights work for songs? How long before they fall into the public domain?
Wrong
Right.
And it's actionable but it rarely ends up in courts because so far it's been kind of a gamble for those who tried it.
Really now. You think this:

sounds better than this?

I could see why this would be a tricky situation because just because something "sounds" like another song, the composers could easily argue that it was a homage. I guess the question becomes, how do you legally argue plagiarism? Do the songs have to be >50% similar in terms of key, notes, rhythm, etc. (i know nothing about music)
>being this arrogant
>takes one to know one
oh fuck off, I'm right
Nintendo a shit
Calm down, don't be so rude. We are just friends having friendly banter. There are clearly similarities, and I'm never said that there weren't. I'm curious about how the legality of it all works

Earthbound.
How about the reverse, where the songs are ripped off from video games?

what???
The hook for Move Your Feet is entirely ripped from the intro to the shopping theme in River City Ransom.
i noticed
Wh*te bois rip-off song and make it sound like the Black Man wrote it and sang it
Typical racists
Anyone know which music the underground theme from mario land was ripped off? I remember it was some metal track.
>It's ok when my superior black rapers do it.
>implying that the wh*te boy is superior
This is basically Deep Purple's Highway Star

>that bass line
fuck...
the fuck?!
>you will never be sat and brapped on by three ebony goddesses in a fairy fountain
real life is gay
>Friendly reminder that X has the superior OST
No, but that rearrange album for X is better than anything in the entire series.
friendly reminder that mute city is ripped off from ys

There's nothing similar about these songs though
That's just sampling though
Music is more than just notes, it's rhythm, tone, and voicing as well
they aren't even that similar
youre not doing a very good job of blending in newfag
There's actually one song from F-Zero X that actually sounds similar to Carcass's Heartwork, I think it's Devils Call in Your Heart or something like that.
Nothing will top that Surprise! You're Dead rip off from King of Fighters 94.
>knows kirby 64
>doesnt recognize zeldas lullaby
that song isn't a rip off, it sound similar, but its overall a different song with a different melody and feel.
If you want to look at rip-offs you should look at doom youtube.com
I knew I wasn't the only one who saw the similarites in those songs, soldier of fortune is awesome,
also grave digger ripped dokken off, Its one of those rare examples of a hair metal band doing something better than a power metal band.
also grave digger suck.
The Doom soundtrack isn't exaclty subtle about its ripoffs.
I mean for fuck's sake one of the songs is literally This Love by Pantera but in MIDI form.
