Get one used and pick the best one, most game stores that deal in used electronics have a few models that are pretty nice. I got a near pristine new 3DS for 109 bucks, used. It's served me well so far and 100 bucks was much easier to stomach.

The N2DSXL also has a worse screen and worse placement of speakers from what I understand, along with being a worse quality build overall.
