haha fucking spot on xD
I know this is a troll hype thread because it got released three days ago, but this one actually has multiplayer.
It's a real thing, I've done it, I promise.
pretty accurate
In this thread, we see the false flag tactic microcock marketers are resorting to in their desperation to salvage SoT's reputation: Make shitting on their game seem uncool
I feel betrayed to believe Sup Forums and hyping this game up
what the fuck does Microsoft do now? They literally have no exclusive and this was hyped for years to be the game
it has multiplayer though right?
No clue. Crackdown 3 seems decent but each update on the game looks worse and worse than the previous one. I mean they have PUBG but even that is getting buried by Fornite now
So it's supposed to procedurally generated
SoT and NMS:
>were both made by smallish studios full of nu-males
>were both backed by big publisher money (sony/microsoft)
>were both overhyped by their publishers' big ad campaigns
>were both promising a big exciting open world
>both completely disappointed on release day with a total lack of content and action; empty open world and a mind-numbingly boring basic gameplay loop (find chests>hand in chests>find chests; go to planet to mine minerals>use minerals to fund more mining>go to planet to mine minerals)
Even though SoT does have multiplayer where NMS didn't, the similarities are pretty obvious. I don't think anyone is claiming SoT doesn't have multiplayer, we're just saying it's a huge fucking letdown like NMS was
This but unironically
New business strategy: Do as little as possible.
It's actually brilliant. Everyone already knows what an Xbox is. Sales will trickle in. The equation is really simple.
>1. Spend nothing on development
>2. Some people buy your console
>3. Profit
xbone is ded
yep, it has multiplayer
Unfortunately though everything about the multiplayer is boring as shit after the first few hours.
There are only 2 types of ship, 3 types of enemy, and 4 types of weapon.
Here's what the PvE combat is like:
youtube.com
As you can see, the skeletons are totally unthreatening enemies.
PvP is a bit better, but seriously lacking in replayability since there's only 4 weapons to choose from (sniper, blunderbuss, pistol, cutlass).
Honestly I think we all knew this back in 2013.
So I guess God of Soy will be better
based xD poster
Glad I didn't fall for the memes hype
It's largely MS's own fault though, since they release any game for xbone on windows as well.
Otherwise it might at least have a few exclusive games.
If only the game wasn't so empty. Every single island is absolutely desolate, and the NPCs never ever move from their locations nor do they have anything really interesting to say.

I'm not sure Rare understood what a pirate was.

BLUNDER
OF
THE
CENTURY
I wouldn't go that far. It's exactly what they described the game to be. The problem is that's all it is. They did the bare minimum they possibly could in terms of gameplay. It's like those 5 years of development time went into making the water look good and transferring players to new servers while they're in-game seamless.
>Rare has >200 employees
That's small in the video game world user. Riot has 1000 employees, Blizzard has 4000 employees, Ubisoft has 10 000 employees
>and Sea of Thieves barely had any advertising
SoT and NMS had the same amount of advertising at E3s and such.
Seriously the NMS thing was when the game came out with all these promises it couldn't uphold, with the developer stating more and more grand shit. SoT didn't do that. I mean christ from the start all anyone knew about it was you'd get to have boat adventures, turns out that's all you do. So no. It's not NMS 2.0. It's just shit.

more like No Man's Sea
What's the matter, OP? No friends? This game is for social people, not loners in their basements.
The real question is why can't Microsoft nail down a solid game/team? They have the money to produce but they have no impact.
>That's small in the video game world user.
No it isn't. Those 3 companies you listed aren't just devs, but also publishers. No Guy Buy was a made by like 15 people, it's a small company. For a dedicated development company, Rare's employee count isn't small.
They don't need to, I know more people with Xbones than any other console, for some reason the X Box brand is popular enough to sustain itself with ports and brand recognition.
Well yeah it's a glorified chatroom, not a game.
the presentation in this game is a 10/10 but everything else is so lackluster, this game needed like 2 more years
>sells like sliced bread
>normies love it
>streamers stream it
Microsoft couldn't give less of a fuck how much content the game has. Even if the player base dies in the next weeks it doesn't matter since normies play one game not longer than one week anyway and the money is already made with the sales.
>normies play one game not longer than one week anyway
Pfft, more like a day or two. Any game that isn't COD gets limited play from normie brainlets.
Don't understand why people don't just play Blackwake. It's better.
But No Man's Sky looked impressive when it was first announced, Sea of Thieves has always looked meh.
>can’t go to Sup Forums because they love TORtanic too much
>can’t go to reddit because any slightly negative remark gets black hole megabanned with a spiny dick up the rectum
>friends just listen to youtubers who can’t into niche appeal at all so they don’t play
>just have to like game alone
>This game
That's the most incorrect part of your post no matter who you're replying to.
This.
It fits into their whole gamepass/netflix strwtegy. They don't expect people to finish all the games on there. They just need as many games up as possible so the average consumer can try one or two and be like "wow so much variety, this is so worth only 8 bucks a month!"
It's already served it's purpose as an advertisement for gamepass.
Nu Males Die had way more than 15 people workng on it user.
>big exciting open world
How the fuck is this not a red flag by now, its 2018 and faggots are still falling for it.
>Don't understand why people don't just play Blackwake.
Because Blackwake has literally zero (0) advertising budget until it actually releases. It only spread by word-of-mouth, plus Jerma picking it up.
All the time, money and effort is going into developing the game, which is an attitude I wish more developers would take (looking at Bethesda in particular)
Let's be fair, it's more like Destiny 2.5.
zz
>sells like sliced bread
Any sauce on that? Every person I know plays this game only because of that 2 week pass. I doubt many people actually bought the game.
The graphics in this picture look unbelievably, unbearably bad.
pretty sure thats the lowest settings Tbh
>game is obviously a disaster at launch
>'hurr Sup Forums just wants another TORtanic'
Maybe, just MAYBE, the criticism is valid user. It's an empty game that is fun for maybe a few hours with friends. In no fucking stretch of the imagination is it worth full price or can anybody sane entertain themselves for more than a few days with it.
not really, Rare were upfront about what the game had in it, you had the open beta to see that for yourself, theyre adding new content in 3 months supposedly in a big update which should hopefully bring in new content.
It looks better in motion I promise
youtube.com
It's decently optimized so toasters can play it, which is probably where that screenshot came from
*figuratively
Except literally no one but the most delusional of faggots had any hype foe this.
NMS had nine people working on it for most of its development and 16 for the final crunch.
>Sea of Thieves is the No Man's Sky of TORtanic - and that's a bad thing
You guys aren't so different to the game journalists you despise.
Lmfao get outta here with that Wave Race 64 lookin ass water
Nah, it's actually fun. But maybe you just need friends.
is this Sup Forums's tortanic meme all over again where a game failed so horribly that the moment another game fails due to remotely similar reasons it gets called "____ 2.0"?
Almost everyone person I've been playing with has been extremely normie and they are literally having an orgasm over this game, this is the kind of game that keeps the normie crowd, they'll probably stay longer than I will and im someone who does like the game
a game not fitting its price point sucks, but doesn't make it a disaster
i prefer good game to good water
It came out?
Is it team vs team matches or is it an open world that you sail around in and explore?
Funny thing is according to some other anons no mans sky actually has content now and is a finished product and its in the bargain bin with no microtransactions.
This on the other hand is actually 60 fucking dollars WITH MICROTRANSACTIONS.
>Sea of Thieves barely had any advertising.
U wot m8?
Team vs.Team, it's not an exploration-focused game
although the map IS technically borderless and you can sail for forever in any direction until your PC shits itself, but I'm not going to lie and say that there's anything out there.
There's four environments: Open Sea, Islands, Volcanoes and Ice World. All of these environments also have varying weather conditions and times of day, the stormy weather condition actually sucks ships which sail too close up into a whirlpool
this is dev test footage from the discord but it looks better in-game
TLDR: It's not an exploration-focused game, but has some nice environment variety regardless
ignore that spoiler i tried to upload an unsupported file type
Team vs Team with a ticket system. It feels a lot like a Battlefield game, but instead of vehicles and rifles you have galleons and muskets. Extremely fun.
>SoT
>barely any advertising
Microsoft have been shilling the fuck out of it nonstop for like a year. Just a few weeks ago they did a not-Direct that exclusively was about SoT.
Well that sucks. A sailing game without any kind of emphasis on exploration is pointless.
>they did a not-Direct
I don't know what that is.
It's literally Sea of Thieves, it's figuratively No Man's Sky 2.0 or Spore 3.0 :))))))))))))
Like a Nintendo Direct but half-assed and with nobody watching it.
The focus is naval combat, so it's not pointless at all.
The game is there for people who want to have ships fight each other and do strategic fleet maneuvers with those ships and fire different types of cannons and shit, with occasional close-range boarding and land fights thrown into the mix.
This is false. My friend and I went to the exact same island and stood on the same spot, and we couldnt see each other.
probably because he was standin on ur head LMAO retard
>This on the other hand is actually 60 fucking dollars WITH MICROTRANSACTIONS.
I mean it quite literally isn't but keep on shitposting all you want bro. 99% of players are also getting it from the game pass either from the free trial or by paying the subscription.
So what you're saying is that it's nothing like sea of thieves in any way other than ships, and you might as well be comparing Pipe Dream to Super Mario Bros because they both feature pipes.
>paying the subscription.
So if you check up on it yearly throughout its 10-year lifespan, you end up paying $100 instead of $60. What a deal!
Thats for a rental buddy although thats all this game is worth, a rental. If you want to own it then you gotta fork over 60 dollars.
Yeah, one game actually focuses on naval combat and other focuses on looking at the water while bantering with your autistic friends.
Well I'm not , the guy to originally bring it up, but I would say they are both similar in that they are multiplayer pirate game first person shooters with PvP. They share a theme, a basic genre (action-adventure), a perspective, and PVP.
Super Mario Bros>Pipe Dream is comparing an acid trip-themed platformer to a plumbing-themed puzzle game. So that analogy is kind of shit.
Realistically, how long will it be before Microsoft pulls out of the console market?
>one game actually focuses on naval combat
>"actually"
You say that like the intent of sea of thieves was a focus on naval combat. It sounds like the reason you don't like it is not because any of the numerous negative qualities of the game itself, but because its gameplay direction doesn't cater to your own personal tastes.
I wish it wasn't, I like what they're doing pushing this cross platform, play anywhere thing. I think the vidya consumerbase as a whole could benefit from that kind of title availability. It's too bad they're going to fail.
Sea of Thieves fails at all its intents
PvP is subpar FPS gameplay with a tiny selection of weapons and ships
PvE is incredibly easy and boring
Exploration is pointless because there's nothing to do at the locations you explore except the aforementioned boring PvE, and the open world isn't actually THAT big
>It sounds like the reason you don't like it is not because any of the numerous negative qualities of the game itself, but because its gameplay direction doesn't cater to your own personal tastes
Not him but I'd love a pirate exploration-focused game, but the game itself is definitely shit
Why are you here, arguing right now exactly?
The problem is it just isnt that much fun even with friends, the world just feels empty and the map is tiny,
>Missing his joke this bad
the reason it's failing is before pushing cross-platform, they were pushing Xbone as a household surveillance device and "water cooler" and "TV.... ON YOUR TV" in 2013
They have only themselves to blame
>Not him but I'd love a pirate exploration-focused game
So would I, which is why my autism's been triggered. He came in here pushing a game that looked like it could potentially deliver on what Sea of Thieves failed to, but it turns out the similarities are superficial and the game doesn't deliver what I was hoping it would.
He basically showed me another sea of thieves. That's why I'm mad.
>irony
Reminder that NMS is actually decent since the updates whereas this shit has three enemies
The fortress skeletons are mentally powerful, and there are like 7ish types of skeleton alone some of which are really hard
>three enemies
nuh uh! it has
>skeletons with pistols
>skeletons with swords
>skeletons with blunderbusses
>skeletons with fists
>seaweed skeletons with pistols
>seaweed skeletons with swords
>seaweed skeletons with blunderbusses
>seaweed skeletons with fists
>golden skeletons with pistols
>golden skeletons with swords
>golden skeletons with blunderbusses
>golden skeletons with fists
>shadow skeletons with pistols
>shadow skeletons with swords
>shadow skeletons with blunderbusses
>shadow skeletons with fists
>snake
>kraken
>sharks
Sometimes the skeletons have a captain's hat on too, which almost doubles the enemy count
It's okay user, I like it too, but I have one friend who also has it
>kraken
Lol
