D&D classic video game Neverwinter Nights got a re-release today, with some updates to make it run and look better. Multiplayer got rebooted too, so its actually easy and supposedly stable to run games. Old mods should be compatible.
NWN2 is shit. NWN with AddOns is muuuch better. Dont fall for the Obsidian meme.
Colton Diaz
Why would I want a remaster if I've beaten like 66% of nwvault modules already.
Isaiah Hughes
I enjoyed NWN2 OC story more than I enjoyed NWN expansions. That say, the gameplay of the first game is miles better and modules more than make up for shit official content.
Nolan Baker
they didn't do anything to the models or textures. it's literally just some post processing effects and a ui which scales to your resolution (which i'm pretty sure was a thing before beamdog existed)
it's a scam and the dlc pack is even more of a scam
Jason Campbell
the animations are better in nwn too. after picking up nwn2 again after years i forgot one of the reasons i hated it and it was those shitty animations. in nwn the fights actually have dodging attacks, blocking and what not. makes it more fun
Oliver Cruz
Most modules went under with ign vault. Where did you get them?
Lincoln Gonzalez
I beat them when it was active of course. There's also a lifeboat site with shit interface that has most of them I think. neverwintervault.org/
Joseph Turner
Graphics as well. NWN was one of the few games that managed to make low poly character modules look good.
Caleb Hill
I wanted to preorder this when it was annnounce but it wouldn't let me.
Connor Cruz
I hope they will move to steam workshops now. That site looks dead and horrible.
Jason Young
So what are the best dnd games? I like dnd irl (only played pathfinder and 5e though) and I'm interested.
Sebastian Phillips
>Most modules went under with ign vault.
Many were saved by this project neverwintervault.org/ Everything uploaded by Migration Wizard was salvaged from IGN Vault.
Jayden Turner
There is very little reason for PLAYERS to get the EE right now considering how they half-assed QoL like higher resolution UI and such. It is better than the original for modders and PW hosts due to back end changes, though.
Dylan Gonzalez
What's the point then? i can understand for BG or IWD to not redo the visual but NVWN's aged like milk
Michael Moore
it's beamdog, but fuck dude i've been wanting nwn on steam for awhile. i hope new persistent servers sprout up again, but i doubt it. the current servers left are so fucking lame
Connor Gray
This. I don't know why people talk shit on nwn and then praise nwn2 where every piece of equipment looks like cheap larp shit. hakpaks also added some good stuff here and there. From what I understood a lot of the changes to nwnEE are actually modding related, and some pretty decent changes, too. Might see a revitalization of the modding scene and player worlds make a comeback.
Carter Turner
Supposedly it runs better on Windows 7+. Supposedly it doesn't torture video cards by randomly switching to 9000 fps. Supposedly its better for modders in the back end, under the hood.
At any rate, maybe it revives the community. Even if it changes little, its a publicity stunt, reminding people of the game, alerting others who missed it altogether. Maybe we get new modules out of it.
nwn2 was the better single player experience despite some of its vaults. the thing that made nwn great was the multiplayer. it was as close to 3d dnd we've ever gotten
Eli Jones
I don't think it will, primarily because online communities have changed so much. People who want tor roleplay online now have services like Roll20 and others. It goes without saying online co-op is way more present today than it was when NWN1 was new.
Colton Young
This, graphics is good enough to give the general idea what are you looking at and leaves plenty of room to imagine the details, nwn2 technologically is far ahead, but ended up with that uncanny valley effect.
My bigger fear is that yesterday's modders are today's indie developers. There just aren't many serious "modders" anymore, the people who would be doing that are selling pixelshit on Steam instead.
William Gray
>second row, third from left I claim this waifu as mine.
Justin Harris
gimme dat third row middle
Tyler Sanchez
Middle row, far left, yes please.
Top taste.
Evan Ward
>second row, third from the right >third row, second from the left Fuck, I'm indecisive when it comes to these
Henry Wright
Hmm, might be interesting. Are mid tools still in? If yes I'll check in a year when mods get released
Oliver Walker
>Whitethistle, whitethistole, all in a row...
Jayden Long
Found phonefags
Robert Jones
Right is ugly, can I switch the original graphics like the Halo anniversary games?
Hunter Turner
>game released today? cool, i'll check in a year There won't be anything in a year, because of the low engagement, because people don't check it now. The chicken and egg problem of mod dependent games is well established, you should know that. Start modding today, so you can play mods in a year.
Jordan Taylor
>Runes of Blood Any anons played this? What's it like?
Hudson Rodriguez
Pool of Radiance Planescape: Torment Eye of the Beholder
Colton Peterson
so how does A Dance With Rogues look on it?
Chase Sanchez
>Beamdog LMAO. No.
Landon Garcia
Fucking scam. Nothing was really added, only upsxaled. No extra voice acting for unvoiced dialogue. Underlying engine is the same, so same limits.
Logan Moore
The same, but at a higher resolution and without coil whining from the VGA.
Xavier Campbell
>Pool of Radiance
I always forget there were PoR games before Ruins of Myth Drannor
I just checked it out more. There's literally no improvements. I always check games in a year after release, since all patches and DLC get released by then. If there are any problems somebody already encountered them and found a solution probably
Matthew King
Check your detector, nigger.
Robert Powell
>D&D
no thanks
Charles Cox
Holy fuck, this game was horrible.
Isaac Morris
If you can't navigate a static website. Either you're on a phone or a newfag, which is it?
Eli Torres
NWN already has a huge stockpile of mods. What else do you want? Models of the little girls from the newest anime?
Kayden Torres
It's a really good classical adventure (so a balanced dose of dialog choices, combat and traps), packed with content and hidden items/quests. Basically you have an evil lord who took control of a country and throughout the module you are either building alliances or destroying various factions to maximize your advantage in the final fight with him (similar to the second part of Hordes of the Underdark).
Carter Lewis
Reread one of the posts you're replying to, imbecile. And please don't tell me you consider the site's circa 2005 interface good by any means. The worst offender is a shitty search system. On original nwvault you could sort modules by any characteristics you wanted like rating/author/length/PC levels etc. Here it's lacking.
Eli Rogers
Ask me to point someone to bad isometric RPGs from the time and it's Lionheart and Ruins of Myth Drannor. Former can at least be somewhat salvaged by admittedly good early parts or so.
Landon James
What new class/spells/feats did they add?
Blake Fisher
This blog has a pretty convenient alphabetical listing and links to notable modules. You'll have to deal with the blog layout, though.
I'll talk with you op. NWN was how I got introduced to D&D (you can't imagine how asspained I was when I learned they made rangers less shit in 3.5)
I played on persistent world servers for years. My last and favorite was Escape From The Underdark, though I haven't been in years. I hope they're still doing ok. I wonder if they're going to update the server to EE.
Samuel Cruz
>beamdog Fuck off.
Elijah Bell
Aren't Clerics also on a God tier? From what i remember after 10 real time minutes of buffing you pretty much waltz to the end of the game with nothing coming even close to touching you.
If you're be able to automatically download necessary HAK packs and shit when you get modules from the Workshop eventually that alone will be worth it.
Cooper Brown
>that feel when you like IWD more Such a shame we will never get an enhanced IWD2. Shit has been fun.
Ian Howard
Cleric is very strong but simply not on the same level as Druid
Is it because of no source or ruleset change? I mean, because NWN1 had a new ruleset as well.
Oliver Rivera
Should've just admitted that you've never seen the original nwvault.
Anthony Reed
Bard is a trap option in 3E.
Lincoln Martin
>Auto downloading hakpaks or steam workshop support
Oh fucking god my dick. I need to check on how EfU is doing
Ian Sanders
...
Ian Perry
Bard gets very strong in Nwn with the xpansion stuff as it gets insane buffs, debuffs, utility spells, tumble etc.
Thomas Martin
How is my waifu Nathyrra? Updated model?
Christian Parker
Bard is ALWAYS a trap option because its strength lies in the person playing it and that's something you can't really replicate in a video game. Sadly in mechanical terms Bard is just a jack of all trades without the above.
Basically former, add to the fact that it is running on a tweaked Infinity Engine, making reverse engineering more difficult.
William Collins
I started in the shadows of the underdark since you guys told me the other expansions sucked and I remember getting reckt by some skelletons even fully buffed+curse song
Jeremiah Robinson
If you want to wank, watch porn. I don't think its optimal to play through a 20 hour campaign for a wank.
Luke Watson
Claiming second row, fourth from the right.
Jordan Ross
In video games Bard can be good, but only when you control the whole party. In NWN, where you only directly control the protagonist, it makes no sense to create a support character. You have to be the leader (guy who speaks) and you have to be a serial murderer for the fighting.
Jacob Parker
Bard is pretty strong in NWN, great multi class options, songs/curse songs are good, decent selection of spells and of course the extremely good UMD
Christian Lewis
Does Kosigan 2nd module still have totally broken saves?
Speak for yourself.
Andrew Reyes
They fixed bards in 5e.
Caleb Brown
>mfw all those modules
Time to get downloading. Do they all list exactly what you need to avoid shenanigans like missing assets? CEP is a must?
>this blatant shilling Nobody is buying your crap, beamshit.
Aiden Bailey
Judging by how NWN threads are always assaulted by hordes of ADwR fags, that stuff is super popular. Don't underestimate the power of dick.
Jack Richardson
Bard is amazing in both 4e and 5e though.
Cameron Harris
It's pretty good as a base class in NWN, simply for the options it gives you, though it's not as incredibly good as it is the second game (the limit of 3 classes instead of 4 hurts). You get medium BAB growth, access to Persuade, Tumble and UMD in a game that doesn't have Able Learner, and some useful buffs, and it opens up RDD.
Jacob Howard
ADwR is legitimately an interesting mod, because: >its actually rogue friendly unlike most mods >the protag is actually not a murderboss deathgod
Carson Hall
Yes. People just tend to focus on the dicking over the fact it is, in fact, a very well made module.
Gavin Bell
Fuck off dog fucker
Zachary Cruz
ADwR is the best Rogue module ever created.
>the protag is actually not a murderboss deathgod Well, she doesn't start out that way. Becoming one by the end of the game is incredibly satisfying because of the progression you had to go through to get there.
Hunter Allen
They should, but don't go overboard at first until you're comfortable with overrides and shit. I suggest taking it slow with couple of mods at first.
Jace Anderson
Fuck off back to NeoGAF, it's not even funny anymore
