So I’ll be traveling this Easter weekend and wanted to get Sup Forums‘s opinion on PSP games I should get before heading out.
I know PlayStation store carries some psp games still but not as much since they shut it down.
Any recommendations?

3rd person shooter with RPG elements, you kind of "dive" into the bodies of soldiers to use their guns and get away from danger, you can customize the MC abilities so it fits your play style.
If you never played Parasite eve, then it is recommendable because you don't know how much the personality of the MC was butchered in this game.

Dominator. Reimplements burnout chains from 2 so that you can always be boosting if you're risky enough, as well as the option to remove the intrusive crash cam every time you run someone into a wall.

You should definitely softmod it my dude, you can play virtually any PSP and PS1 game on it to your heart's content.
Also I'd recommend GTA Liberty City Stories (Vice City Stories too), Chili Con Carnage, Outrun, Tekken 6, Star Wars Battlefront II, Crazy Taxi Fare Wars, Patapon and Ape Escape: On The Loose.
Eh, SNES is kind of crummy on it though Gameboy Advance and Sega Genesis (with Picodrive) work like a fucking charm.
PSP is pretty great for hacking and installing custom firmware these days (though some emulators like SNES and N64 can't run very well), the PSP actually has a native PS1 emulator built into it (just remember to get PSX2PSP games for emulation instead of just straight up PSP games).

Final Fantasy 4 for the psp is great for traveling because the after years are broken up into tales and each tale takes about 1 to 2 hours to beat.

Speaking from a bit of nostalgia, they're honestly great and fit really well with the handheld controls (also they were the first ones I ever owned myself despite playing Vice City years before).
Vice City Stories has a lot of really cool mechanics like operating different business are the area, though I think Liberty City Stories has a better story. I haven't played Chinatown Wars but I hear that's also great.

Having had it for 6 or 7 years now it makes the PSP feel like the best handheld ever made (also physical copies of PSP games actually run worse than digital for some reason).

I know it can be intimidating, but the PSP is literally the easiest console out there to hack. All you do is copy some files from your computer to the PSP. That's it. There's guides everywhere which can show you how to do it. The rewards are so so worth it my man
