Far Cry 5

Can someone please just give me a complete rundown of the plot of FC5 from the botched arrest to the end credits so I don’t have to spend 10 hours of my life and 60 bucks of my money on some stupid Ubisoft bullshit again?

[spoilers]Also, is there anything in this game that MattPat is going to extrapolate into evidence of his retarded little head canon that all Ubisoft games are part of the same shared universe?[/spoilers]

>failing spoilers

Bunch of DoomPreppers think it's going to be the end of the fucking world.

They kidnap people and try to force them to be part of their religion so they can be in their bunkers or at least go to heaven before they die

Policeman gets help from locals to stop them

You catch the bad guy

Conveniently a nuke drops the second you catch him

Turns it it really was the end of the fucking world this whole time and all your friends fucking die

Ending is spending the rest of your short life in a bunker with the only survivor being the bad guy going "I DON'T WANT TO SAY I TOLD YOU SO BUT...."

I keep forgetting if I need an S or not.

>Conveniently a nuke drops the second you catch him
>Turns it it really was the end of the fucking world this whole time and all your friends fucking die
Why the fuck is there a nuke?

Cause Russians or Koreans or something.
It's implied in the background that America is going through some shit, which is why the government doesn't do shit with the cult takeover because they're busy with other shit, but they don't really specify.

Because it's implied that America is in a new cold war, but you're in the middle of nowhere cut off from the rest of America and with no way of knowing that nuclear war is about to commence, and the game pretty heavily implies that

But why is there a nuke in bum fuck nowhere? Also how does it imply that there’s a cold war going on?

Does the game ever give a concrete date?

I'd kinda love it if it was revealed this was Fallout 0 or something, with the game ending on 2077.

Attached: NV.jpg (800x500, 65K)

I think the fact that nothing else in the game remotely resembles the 1950s is a pretty good indicator that such a thing is not plausible

So why did he start the cult?

because ubisoft are shit writers

By the way, this also means that everything you did in Far Cry 2, 3, and 4 is retroactively meaningless since everyone dies. Jason Brody is dead, Ajay is dead, all the civilians you killed yourself to save in 2 are all dead.

Also Primal is set in the future

There were multiple abandoned missile silos. In a MAD situation, the earliest nukes would be used to hit strategic targets - including the enemy's weapons silos. There is a good possibility that the Seeds would have picked up on this after gaining control of the silos in the first place.
It's likely he really did want to force a better society by having them embracea religion to cleanse the sin out of you, and using the bliss to brainwash you otherwise. He references entering eden i nthe ending as being when they leave the vault - so all durign the game when eden's gate is referenced it would mean the cult leaving the vault after the fallout is over - thereby the seeds would have created a better society to inherit the earth.

CHEEZEBURGERS NO

OK, it’s a skeleton. I don’t get it

it's a skeleton of a blood dragon from far cry 3 blood dragon

its obviously an easter egg

It better only be an Easter egg.

America got into it with another nation

But why? And no, I’m not talking about the reasons behind a Geopolitical strife escalating to nuclear levels, I’m talking about why this game was set in a friggin cold war scenario? It came the fuck out of nowhere

>part of the same shared universe
They are, though. The CIA guy was in 3 and 4, and I think he shows up in 5 again. At the very least he's referenced repeatedly. Willis or whatever his name was.

just play it

So basically the evidence you get that there is a cold war going on is a few newspaper clippings about the fear of nukes and some hostility between nations. The problem is it's nothing concrete and is ultimately just a shitty attempt at a shocking twist. I mean christ it doesn't even fit with the atmosphere the game was setting up. You've got inspirational music out the ass, you've got everyone rallying together to push the cultists out as you unite your former friends and they stand behind you due to your fearlessness and all get hype as shit to take down Joseph. Then you all die. You all die and Joseph wins. It's so bad.

>all the civilians you killed yourself to save in 2 are all dead
I still have trouble figuring out why I gave a shit about them. I was a god damn mercenary and the only reason the game even made me help them in the first place was because they offered me malaria pills. Why the fuck can't I shoot the Jackal and take the diamonds and just leave? He talks smack about you being basically dead but you're still apparently well enough for you to pass the border.

>the earliest nukes would be used to hit strategic targets - including the enemy's weapons silos
>the Seeds would have picked up on this after gaining control of the silos in the first place.

>fear a nuclear war
>decide to stay in a place where you're pretty sure you'll be right in the path of the opening attacks

wait what

>Antagonist gets a pyyrhic victory at the end.
Its making me rock hard

Well it's all intentionally left vague as to what occured but one popular idea people have is that it wasn't nuclear war, since that has far more dire implications, and was infact Joseph's last fail safe. The guy had a fail safe to escape everything, after all.

This.
Worst ending ever. Rivaled only by mass effect.

no matter the choices, the bad guy wins every time. And it turns out he was right the whole time.

What a wild ride. The villain is also very uninteresting past the whole "im a lunatic cult leader" thing. His only emotion seems to be "quote the bible in a cryptic way." Not like Pagan Min or Vaas in the previous games.

I had hopes. RIP FarCry.

Attached: fwa.jpg (600x450, 164K)

It's not a pyyrhic victory. That would imply he won but he's in shambles. He got EXACTLY what he wanted, and his dead family? Well he's got a new one and he's fine with that: you. The easiest Deputy to capture in the world.

>Games by the same title are in the same universe
No fucking shit. That’s not even what the guy’s faggoty-ass head canon is about. He thinks literally every Ubisoft game is set in the same universe. The hunter sense in primal descends into those Hunter guys in for FC4 and that is basically a primitive version of Eagle vision and the Assassins contracted the Watch_Dogs guy to kill some Templar dude from Black Flag’s present day plot with the dagger, tapestry and some thing in FC4 DLC being Pieces of Eden.

Actually, now that I think about it, I could forgive the nuke ending if it turned out father seed used some Piece of Eden to blow up Hope county as a big “Fuck You” if his cult loses.

just ctrl+s when you comment you fucking dumdum

I didn't mind John at least. I liked how it was pretty clear he really just wanted to kill you but Joseph wouldn't let him and his affable dialogue starts turning into barely hidden jabs and raving bullshit the more you hit his territory.

>unhappy ending meme

Why do developers like to do this shit? So the last 20 hours were just a complete waste of time? I'm playing this game because reality so why make this reality suck as well?

This is why I liked Nioh so much more then the rest of the Souls, at least your actions had some impact on the world and made it less of shithole.

Oh ok I get it now I misread it. Well there are repeated references to the games in other games, Abstergo is a real company in Watch Dogs for instance. But the one real piece of evidence that the games bleed over to each other is a guy who goes missing and is basically said to be dead is killed in Watch Dogs. By you. But that's about it.

may I suggest children's books? then you'll get your happy fairy tale ending every time.

Spec ops: The Line had an unhappy ending but the very least you pretty much knew by the point of the white phosphorus that this is going to be a miserable ending and you just wanted to see how miserable it really got because the white phosphorus pretty much cemented that this was the exact opposite of how something like call of duty would treat it

The far cry games are basically just “all right let’s see you try and win and have fun at oh by the way yeah fuck you here’s a bad ending oh wait you want to good ending? Well here’s an even more unsatisfying ending because it doesn’t gel with anything else

children books are unironically kino faggot. Far superior then crawling in my skin dark end edgy grimdark shit.

It's the twist. The villain was completely justified.

He won because he was proven right and you lost cause everything that you did was shown to be undoing plans to genuinely save hundrends of people. In the end, his ego was vindicated while ours was completely destroyed.
Its been a while since a game like that sprung up.

Most of the assassins creed games have satisfying positive endings. At least the ones I’ve played have, anyway. And before you say something about “positive=happy“ and call me a retard, I’m saying that the ending is a net positive for the characters. Sure all of Edward’s friends are dead, but he ends up sailling back to Swansea with his adorable daughter and he finds a new wife, has a son and puts this assassination pirate crap behind him. Plus that ending has bittersweet heartwarming with the pan to the table of all Eddie’s dead friends. If there was a far cry game you won’t get anything nearly that nice

In comparison Far Cry 5 is a weirdly upbeat game where you repeatedly trash the cult and send them shaking in their boots, with the resistence growing in strength and rallying around you. In contrast the ending is far more jarring.

It's MAD, you're gonna get fucked with nukes no matter where you go - who cares if it's the first volley, or 18th.
They just realized that Hope country has vaults, bunkers and safe houses all over. If you're gonna survive that shit it's really damn near the best place to be.

Don't forget The Division being years and years after the events of Rainbow Six: Siege with the "Yellow Smoke" and Article 4 being the start of it all.

Dude's so delusional, he can't get over the fact that Ubisoft just has bad writers for most of their games and reuse lots of assets.

I really wish this "he was right all along" meme would die out it's not even what the GAME itself was saying. I mean for christ sake the entire game Joseph is accusing you of being what will end them all, and you aren't. It was a nuke YOU had nothing to do with.
>genuinely save hundreds of people
He was killing hundreds of people because they didn't want to be under his command. That's aside from the fact that Joseph is a murderous psycho, his older brother is an even bigger murderous psycho, and John is a torturing lunatic.

perhaps marvel movies then? or Transformers?

It’s a shitty twist. That’s like if the twist ending to cycle was that Norman‘s mother was a brainwashing alien queen forcing him to harvest people for it to eat so it can lay its eggs and conquer the world.

>cycle
Psycho. Damn dictation

>Fuck it's real

And i was enjoying this game with all the killing and destruction. It's buggy, but i don't mind it that much. But now it has this shitty ending with nuclear weaponry and end of the world.

Blayd', it's terrible.

And? If i knew society was gonna go belly up due to a nuclear apocalpyse, I would round up everyone who's gonna agree with me and those who actively resist would be put down as to assure compliance. Seems like what most successive vulnerable states do,kinda like singapore's crackdown of communists and socialists political contingents during LKY's years

Well, you did brought ruin to his congregation and destroyed the work that would have saved hundreds from a nuclear apocalypse.
>what about the victims of this forced mobilization.
They'll die anyway.

>I would round up everyone who's gonna agree with me and those who actively resist would be put down as to assure compliance.
No you fucking wouldn’t. Quit trying to say that the ending was good. It effectively made this the last far cry game ever by declaring the universe of the games to the one that has just been completely destroyed by a nuclear war

>ending the franchise with a big bang
Another stellar move.

>Declaring the universe of the games to the one that has just been completely destroyed by a nuclear war

>One nuke
>Nothing is said about the entire nation
>Implying Far Cry 6 being set in a highly militarized martial law state wouldn't be fun as fuck

It'd be like a good Homefront Revolution.

Are Recruits permadead?

She didn't do anything wrong

Attached: Faith_Seed.jpg (500x251, 102K)

I read somewhere it was Yellowstone and not a nuke.

Why would anyone waste _multiple_ nuclear warheads on a shit valley in the middle of nowhere Montana, exactly?

Attached: 1519185820906.png (588x434, 237K)

Can I play this game without uplay

Wait for a torrent, or get a console.

>Yellowstone
>in Montana
I know it’s right on the border, but have you seen that ending? The big explosion comes from the side of a cliff over a lake in Montana. And there’s a mushroom cloud after a bright blinding flash. A volcano does not produce a huge flash like that

Attached: BE89761B-C291-4240-B3F9-CEFF6EA4E7AE.png (1334x750, 1.89M)

Strategic target, russians attacked our silos. Just ironic since they were empty. The real montana actually has several missile silos as well.

Torrent it is
Thank you, my dude

Alternatively:
>you walk away
>sheylla is asking why, gramps tells them it's mandatory
>you get into car and gramps starts talking about National Guard
>gramps turns on radio with hallucinating song
>you become mental and kill your friends in while in the car offscreen, because you were brainwashed previously

Why do people think that shitty games are not worth paying $60 for but they are worth wasting days of your life on?

Attached: 1513028940546.gif (188x286, 37K)

She actually was a manipulative whore. Good luck with that.

So does this ending mean no more Far Cry?
Can it finally be at peace?

Attached: 1521600052601.gif (195x195, 98K)

At least not one set in the US

Well, he doesn't want uPlay. Those are literally the only two options he has.

Who cares what someone wastes their day doing? Sup Forums hates 99% of video games, but they waste literal years bitching about them.

I don't get the relevence of the song? Is it played somewhere else in the game?

>waahh one nuke means the entire far cry universe died and exploded! How can we ever have a game after one nuke in Montana was detonated??

>people actually believe every single inch of the entire world explodes when one or maybe even a couple nukes go off in America and whoever America nuked back

Attached: 1522186479051.png (499x338, 38K)

Pretty much, yeah. Because that is exactly what would happen

So let's say America and China exchange nukes

Do you think one of them is going to send a couple of nukes to Africa or all the island countries just to fuck with them?

>Because that's exactly what would happen
>Both parties would send a handful of nukes to key-military/leader areas

85% of both countries would still be perfectly fine.

One nuke can't take out a whole state. People assume too much that one or two nukes would literally decimate an entire country when it's just not true.

There were multiple nukes that went off
seriously, how many of you actually played through the ending?

Chain reaction. Every country that has nukes ends up using it because they think everyone else is using it even if only two people are using it.

It’s like this scene from The Boondocks

Attached: E39BE288-CB98-4FD3-B8DF-8959212B0B2B.gif (240x162, 510K)

As much as mattpat is a faggot who reaches really far for some theories the Ubiverse has real evidence behind it

Have you thought about a job being a major nuclear war expert for the American military

It's called MAD and literally taught in middle school.

>this hypothetical situation will be real because school taught me!

Ok

I'm mad

Only 3 go off, and they're all in extreme proximity to the player. So all 3 are in Hope County, or extremely close to it.

MAD would never actually happen though. You forget that in today's world, once a nuke is launched, literally every super-power can see exactly where it's going. If one gets launched at a certain area, literally every other super power now has time to set up their counter-measures. If one doesn't target them, they aren't just going to start firing off nukes in every direction.

MAD is a fucking retarded premise and would never actually happen.

Next might be a Guerrilla warfare game against what ever country won

Because if they clearly dropped it through the story this ending becomes quite predictable.

MAD doesn't mean global nuclear war, it just means exactly what it says on the tin: mutually assured destruction. Not globally assured destruction.

I don't feel like playing in an American setting again.

China would target countries that the US has economic ties with to disrupt our economy as much as possible and we'd do the same to China. Maybe they wouldn't carpet bomb the countries in nukes but certain regions would be targets. For example northern Mexico is pretty much a goner because of all the American owned factories down there, there'd definitely be nukes going off in Africa as well because China has serious investments in the continent.

Maybe the opposite you play as a Guerrilla solder
As you fight against a US invasion

So the Fallout games are basically completely ignoring the rest of the country and the planet that has been entirely unaffected and mutation free?

its explained that nukes were launched at china and that Europe had fallen into war with eachother. It tells a time where resources were running out so one can assume that everyone was at eachothers throats.

Yes. Along with hallucogenic drugs in barells, the song has subliminal message, and is used to brainwash people, so they follow The Father's orders.

>Assassins contracted the Watch_Dogs guy to kill some Templar dude from Black Flag’s present day plot
That part's real though. And there's a mission in FC3 where you go in an Abstergo bunker where you fight Abstergo guys to recover documents that point to the end of AC3

Anyone who isn't on your roster dies forever if killed.

The military brother, Jacob or whatever his name was, he brainwashes you with the song. When it plays you are triggered into killing everyone in a frenzy. In that ending when it's played you start to lose yourself like you do when it plays during his boss fight with the implication that you're about to butcher your friends.

I did not played the game, but I liked the ending after reading the spoiler.

>it's the end of the world
>and you get to spend it with the hot shirtless cult leader who wants you to call him Daddy

Seems like a win-win situation to me.

I almost don't want to actually finish the game now if my reward is just going to be HAH LOOK EVERYBODY DIED AND YOUR NEMESIS WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG

Why? It makes story irrelevant. Imagine if witcher 3 or any other story ended with sudden end of the world, via some unknown danger.
