I'm both interested and dreading it. I may had enjoyed Crisis Core but remember Dirge of Cerberus.
Unless they totally fuck up I'll probably enjoy it, hell, I was able to enjoy XV.
I'm more worried just how long or short Part One will be.
>Are you honestly looking forward to this game
Not since I learned who is working on it and all their ideas.
>do you think it will genuinely be a fun game like the original was
Not really, no. The original game has tons of flaws (most of Disk 2) and I was advocating for a remake over a decade ago because I saw a lot of room for improvement. Instead, it looks like they're going to gut everything that made the original good. And even if they try and keep a lot of stuff, the funny scenes like dressing up Cloud or the "macho squats" or dolphin jumping the parade will all be ruined. Because they're going for an ultra realistic style. And that quirky comedy of the original doesn't work with FFXV style design.
I'm sorry, I just don't see any way this will work. Still expect it to sell 8+ million just on name recognition and hype through.
i'm waiting for the retards i know that are excited for it to say it's shit.
I expect to have mixed feelings.
It’s honestly doable on modern tech with modern expectations if they scope every setting as its own level. Expensive, but doable.
It all falls apart once they get to a world map, though.
>It all falls apart once they get to a world map, though.
Have they said they're doing that? Couldn't they just go the FFX route? Or something like XII?
I think squeenix has been searching for a new formula to their combat for several FF iterations and they never get it perfect. I expect it to be a compelling story and maybe they will make me give a shit about the characters but I have zero expectations for the gameplay.
>linear hallways and set progression like Crisis Core
God I hope not. But I expect they will do this.
it's gonna be shit. you know it I know it. a waste of time and a tarnish on the legacy.
Unless they do an old school world map, where cities and locations are much smaller than they actually are, I'm not sure I want them to do an open world FFVII if XV is anything to go by.(I did like XV, but the open world only managed one city, I don't want to buy FFVII in 20 different parts.)
Early on I was worried, Square hasn't done something great since FF11 and they clearly didn't seem ready to take on a project this important. Now though? I'm not as worried, I think even though FFXV was messy it did show that they can handle the setting. My main concerns would be..
>Music
One of the most iconic soundtracks in gaming, while FFAC showed they know how to treat the source material right both FFXHD and FFXIIHD showed they can also fuck it up real hard. I do love a fair chunk of the XV OST so who knows, maybe they can figure things out and get it right.
>Combat
It's probably going to be action oriented and XV wasn't all that engaging, maybe with this project they have more time to focus on those things since the story and everything is already set in stone.
you do realize that it's being done largely by the original members that created the game in the first place right, things are actually looking up
Well, one thing they were hyping is that you will have a "fully fleshed out Midgar to explore". This makes it sound like it'll be a huge open world city. But typically when Square promises something like this, it never turns out the way they claimed. I could easily see them making a Midgar just like Crisis Core where you just run around in straight lines. Hell, that's kind of what it was in the original FFVII.
Yes.
if anything it will be kingdom hearts lite
As long as they keep Yuffie's unbuttomed shorts idc
>mfw we still haven't seen Red XIII
it bother's me why they would wait so long to reveal the rest of the cast
Red XIII will be the big reveal for Episode 2.
They couldn't even handle releasing Chrono Trigger on Steam without screwing it up, just imagine how bungled this is going to be
I've heard it's because they're focusing on KH3 first and foremost right now.
We'll probably see more of the cast at this E3 after a released date gets put on KH3.
There is absolutely zero possibility of it being good. I was against it getting remade from day 1 and still am now.
>Nomura had to find out that he was the director through the game's trailer instead of being asked
Why are SE like this?
Nintendo did the same thing to Sakurai when Brawl was announced. Also, it's dumb to put Nomura in charge instead of the original games director, who currently has little to do. Nomura should just be in charge of all the graphical design. Putting him in charge of all game development means he's going to have to spend less time on graphical development (the main selling point of the game) and more time on everything else (the game equivalent of paperwork and politics).
Nomura is the fall guy because Kitase know it will suck.
>nervous laugh
panic
The original game's director Kitase is the one who assigned Nomura numbnuts.
>game is going to be episodic
nope, not looking foward to it
each installment has been vastly different from each other though
Source?
FFXV has a lot of quirky comedy what you on about
Its going to be the shitstorm equivalent of Meteor impact.
Need to see what they do to Tifa. If they handle her properly I'm willing to give them one last chance. If they fuck it up they are dead to me.
>fully fleshed out Midgar to explore
Man, I don't want this shit in a fuckin' remake, just do the original, but polished
Here's your new Tifa. And she doesn't come in episodes.
>ponytail
Get this pretender out of here
I don't care about the episodic structure. Actually I would prefer it.
Its going to be excellent (for me) because I grew out of having the patience to play 70 hours of random encounters and strictly play ARPG's now.
So this is a dream for me.
Unfortunately I have to wait for the PC version which is going to kill me inside
>heart-pupils
get that nu-shit outta here
I can live with KH combat, but FFXV combat would be boring to me. Im really hoping the combats a bit more like the Valkyria Chronicles games. It can still be turn based but allows movement in 3D and each action you perform takes a chunk of your 'wait' timer
>Are you honestly looking forward to this game
Yes
>do you think it will genuinely be a fun game
I already know it is going to be very different. So different it will upset all types of people yet also bring in its defenders.
I thought the compilation was shit and history tells me that remakes/reboots are almost always terrible. Shan't be buying.
THEY WILL FUCKING RUIN IT
IT'S GONNA SSUCK MY DICK
I TRIED TO WARN YOU ABOUT SQUARE-ENIX BUT YOU KEEP ON GOBBLING UP SHIT EVERY TIME THAT ANUS LETS LOOSE
Lmao wtf nigga
I'll most likely enjoy the remake, but not to the extent that I enjoyed the original.
I'm looking forward to the remake for pure eye candy purposes, I can't wait to see shit like the Golden Saucer in today's graphics.
>do you think it will genuinely be a fun game like the original was
XD The original wasn't even fun though
people seem hung up on the combat like it was important to the orignal
but i just liked really exploring the world as the story progressed
She's shit. Ara is the new Tifa.
>Not since I learned who is working on it and all their ideas.
The three guys (sans sakaguchi) who made the original?
Nomura was told by kitase that he was the director after he called him up asking why his name was listed under director, but he didn't say kitase specially assigned him as director himself
Not really, im more excited for kh3. Mainly because the remake is gonna be divided into episodes and console will get it first. I might as well wait for the pc version like XV.
Also im worried the first episode wont be out until 2020 or something since square moved the project in house and started recruiting around may last year vg247.com
>The Final Fantasy 7 remake is still a long way off, with Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda saying that the company had plans to launch the title "in the next three years or so."

Yikes, at least they seem to be focused on delivering a good game unlike xv where the game was rushed with a deadline. I guess the 7,5m sales of xv and 2,5m from nier helps funding the project so it can achieve the quality they want without rushing it
it will have 50% of the original's content plus will be drip fed to players in episodes that take forever to come out, each more disappointing and hated than the previous one
screenshot this
>Also im worried the first episode wont be out until 2020
That was their window yeah and the point of the article. KH3 is this year. Avengers or ff7Re will take up 2019, and then the remaining game will be out by 2020
I'm worried it will be a fucking DLC filled mess and have a bad combat system like XV's.
