Toaster general

Post your shitboxes, povertymachines, toasters and budget builds.

Tell others what you are playing right now on it.

That's not so bad.
What intrigues me is:
>german
>poor

I don't have a toaster to post sadly.

It's just my weekend rig this is my main system. Older but still powerful.

I am just really interested in older/budget stuff for some reason. Far more intriguing to me than those build with $1000+ CUPs or GPUs.

Both are nice user.
I'm getting ready to build a Win98 retro machine, went with:
>P4 2.8 Ghz Northwood
>MSI i875P motherboard
>1 GB DDR 400 Mhz dual channel
>GeForce 4 Ti 4200 64 MB
>SB Audigy
>250 GB SATA HDD
>beige case

Only need to buy a new PSU, already have all the other parts. All in all it cost me ~8€ excluding the PSU.

>i7s
>Toasters

You're all wrong

>i7's
>970's and 1080's
>toaster builds
I know NVIDIA fags are retarded but holy fuck muster up some restraint.

Your reading comprehension gets 0/10

That will be one hell of a 98 machine.
Top tier
>beige case
and it seems you go for estetics too. Props to you.
Got the 2600 this month before it was rocking a i3 2120 which held up surprisingly well.

shit sorry about the image size. shouldve double checked -_-

>i5-3470
>8 GB 1600 MHz Kingston HyperX DDR3 RAM
>WD Black 1TB
>ASUS nVidia GTX750 Ti OC 2 GB GDDR5
>Enermax NAXN82+ 550W
>Samsung Syncmaster T220 22''

Pretty neat. What are you plaing

Completely upgraded since but here was my old PC

Currently DOOM (2016), aside from that some Tekken 7 and Trackmania United in multiplayer.

ah yes, the attention seeker in the toaster thread
please kill yourself

I am ^^^. Playing Vermintide 2 atm. Going to play Prey in the near future.

My bad I thought it was used sarcastically. I guess it makes sense that people would want to know about decent budget builds for modern games. Whoops =(

Used workstations are a damn good value.

I've also been thinking about doing a Win98 machine, that era of machines had a lot of competing parts with a wide array of architectures/drivers/protocols that games had to do a lot of shit to get the compatibility down, which also means that a good deal of them don't really do so hot running on modern hardware now that the market's pretty much just intel/nvidia/amd. I do hear that pentium 4 doesn't have very good DOS compatibility though, which is why it's cheaper than a 3

The hard drive is from 2004. It just werks ;^)

>1080 Ti
>Budget

kill yourself twice

>i3-7100
>8 GB DDR4
>1TB hdd
>Nvidia GT 730

Tech brainlet here, can I upgrade to gtx 1050? How can I know?

You don't need to know shit. Just plug it in.

>I do hear that pentium 4 doesn't have very good DOS compatibility though, which is why it's cheaper than a 3
That depends solely on what you want to play. It's amazing for late era SVGA DOS games like System Shock and Descent.
It's way too fast for most of the older games like Wing Commander 2 or Sierra adventure games.
Come to think of it it's not terribly different in terms of compatibility to a P3 machine, you definitely shouldn't go over a P2/K6-III for older DOS games.
One extra thing is the lack of ISA support, but most later era games work fine with PCI sound cards.

1050 doesn't need external power, so it'll be fine. You may need a low profile card if your case is small form factor.

bump

This was a beast in 2013.

Attached: 4.jpg (2500x1550, 813K)

this is good advice, the low profile which I'm using only draws 75W from the PCIe slot, and the computer only has a 240W PSU so I was worried as fuck but it works
can play New Vegas on maximum settings at 1080p 60fps so I'm happy so far, plan on upgrading to an i5-2500K @3.30Ghz, not sure if my CPU is too hot already though, it sits at around 36-40
whole thing only cost £280 in the end

Attached: cunt.jpg (698x1626, 224K)

I had a 980, but it died and now I have to use an old 770 on it's last let's and when it dies I'll have to use my 560ti. Crypto mining was a mistake.

>win 7 ultimate
Hot

why do these faggots think that 12+ GB of RAM and anything above a 750 is a toaster

I had not Ide that 730 could handle 4 displays of such resolution.

This. SFF PCs + 1050/Ti are a delight to play with.

I hate the same GPU and CPU lying around. Is it worth building a HTPC around them?

I think you win if you are not using that ironically.

Also why not more RAM and a bigger HDD?
Country with a weak used market?

It still kind of is

it could handle Dragon Age: Inquisition on medium-high as well
Not bad. Now in the possession of my brother and I upgraded to this

Attached: specs.png (506x402, 19K)

Very nice.
Does the board support overcloaking though? If not and or if your PSU is too weak for it anyways just go for a 2500 non k or i7 2600.

Oh wow I had no idea you could play games on of that era at all.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 2200G 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-AB350N-Gaming WIFI (rev. 1.0) Mini ITX AM4 Motherboard
Memory: Team Vulcan 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-3000 Memory
Storage: SanDisk X400 128GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Case: Cooler Master Elite 110 Mini ITX Tower Case ($38.89 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: SeaSonic 520W 80+ Bronze Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

Total: $470.65

Case sucks, Everything is partially stacked on top of each other. Everything else is great.

Attached: cooler-master-elite-110.jpg (1920x1500, 628K)

The 750ti is a fine little card even now and beats the GTX 1030 in most games.

Bought a refurbished Optiplex 3010 for $120 and slapped a 1050 in for another $120.
Optiplex already had 8gb RAM and I just threw all my old HDDs in there.
It's NICE

Attached: speccy.png (1600x900, 77K)

Show us those sexy insides.

are you me

My screen is actually 1360x768, so is the second one.
Fudged up and thought I should run them at 1600x900 instead of native.

this kills the console

Playing Youtube videos and looking for an Optiplex on craigslist to buy as an HTPC.

Attached: Speccy (2).png (684x540, 49K)

come back once you got one

I would but I'm away

This guy is right CoolerMaster cases are overrated imo.

have this for about 7 years now

Attached: 3215.png (462x419, 21K)

Recently got this board + an i5 760 for free and I am blown away by how nice it runs.

Planning on giving it to my gfs parents who are still using an old workstation pc with an Athlon 64 6000+, GTS 250 and 8GB of DDR2 ram

Attached: 20180329_143803.jpg (2256x2688, 1.97M)

this successfully fits the toaster role unlike 65% of the PCs ITT

Put a 1050TI + SSD in that and it's a find midrange system.

>i5 650
>midrange

>2 cores
>4 threads
>2010

Sounds about right

is there even an amd equivalent for the 1050ti?
I'm planning on gettin some older generation card + an i7 just for the extra cores actually

Thanks for the answers.

Also How do you know how much power it draws? Motherboard is asus h110m-k if it helps
