OP is right though.

Redshit doesn't have a yellow tint mode, right? Just that red mode? Yeah I'll stick with f.lux.

Sup Forums is full of pussies who can't stand up for their freedoms like real men

You can set the gamma for red, blue, and green.

Discord > Skype

everything is better than fucking Skyoe though

no. you cant replace skype because a replacement has to have users. if i started using discord and ditched skype but everyone else was still on skype then i couldnt use discord

Sure there are better programs but they're not of much use if everybody you know already uses skype

Why would you want to talk to skype users. It's literally a plus.

Everyone I talked to on skype now uses discord. It's a nice feel

They need some kind of developer version devices with an unlocked bootloader and a dedicated forum like XDA without the infighting.

Python

gnu/linux > nsa/windows

I don't follow. How would you translate, say, this into python?

LibreOffice > OpenOffice

user those are entirely different types of programs

i mean it's nice to hang out with your bros in mumble/ts but discord/skype is used as a chat program where you can keep up with many different groups of people without having them interact with each other

literally anyone that uses skype for voice chat are normiefags and grandmas and we shall not speak of them

Which one of these will parse natural-language queries?

Oh you want cute graphs? Then R

What are some good fractal generators?

Not at all. Everything you could possibly do in ShitLab, you can do better in free open source R.

Reaper is coming to linux

Unfortunately, MS Office > LibreOffice.

I actually spent 1 hour last night trying to coerce R into generating a *very* simple plot comparing a point series against a known function.

I gave up and ended up using WINE + Graph.exe (padowan.dk/) in 5 seconds.

The language seems insane through and through.

What is ggplot2? cookbook-r.com/Graphs/

Well if you take time and learn the language, it won't take much time

I only know about xaos, but it's pretty all right, I'm sure there's others if that doesn't do it for ya

Maybe none. Who cares? If you want that then R or Octave

GIMP is better, the problem is simple: People are used to Photokek and too lazy to learn clicking new buttons. You can do much more with GIMP than on any other image editor, thanks to the python scripting api.
>video editing
ffmpeg is really powerful and has shitloads of filters - granted it's not easy to work with it when you don't know what to type.
There's also blender for more complex stuff.

import numpy as np
import matplotlib.pyplot as plt

x = np.arange(0, 0.2, 0.001)
y = 0.877 * (x + 0.0562) ** 2.4

plt.plot(x, y)
plt.show()

wxMaxima is pretty good, depending on what you need it to do. I can do something like
load("plotdf")
plotdf([x^2-4*y,-y^3*(x-4*y*x)],[x,-10,10],[y,-10,10]);

to make something like pic related

It can also do symbolic differentiation and integrals and shit. For example
f(x,y,z) := x^3*y^2*z + (1/(z+x)) * 3*y;
f[xx] = diff(f(x,y,z),x,2);

that f[xx] (xx being the subscript) would be equal to the second order partial derivative with respect to x.

What if I don't know a good range for ‘x’ and want the library to figure it out for me automatically?

>script kid: the post
most of these are completely useless

This. Da best.

also yeah I use python but I like maxima for doing this type of stuff because there is no symbolic algebra in python

unless there are libraries any of you know, then please tell me about them!

I actually found out about this on the internet and decided to try installing it but it depends on dev-lisp/sbcl which seems to fail building on my system.

Maybe I'll give it another go later.

Depends on the definition of 'good'.

I don't such a package, but if you define 'good' I presume it can be done in python.

If you are talking about getting the plotting to work, it didn't work when I first installed it but then I found out I had to download something along with wxmaxima called xmaxima and that seemed to make the plots work and I've not had problems since

Off yourself memelord, there is a shitton of goodies that have nothing to do with pentesting.

Nobody uses those. Bioperl is relatively popular. Nearly all bioinfo software is FOSS: bwa, bowtie, jellyfish, blast, muscle, samtools, bamtools, raxml, phylobayes, prodigal, cd-hit, etc.

Couldn't test it and I have limited knowledge of it. Sorry.

everyone I know immediately switched to discord. I haven't used skype for weeks. what now fags

Honestly, Mathematica's plots are fucking ugly and inflexible. Mathematica is great for arbitrary precision math and symbolic stuff, and I use it myself like that, but for plots and data processing it is utter shit. Python with numpy, scipy and matplotlib is far easier to use (even though matplotlib is one of the shittiest library in existence, filled with inconsistencies and frustrating classes). And even if you prefer a somewhat polished GUI to go with it, I still would prefer MATLAB a thousand times over Mathematica for this purpose.

Jesus, I just remembered just how fucked up Mathematica's scripting language is. Jesus WHY. WHY WOULD YOU MAKE SOMETHING UP FROM SCRATCH AND COME UP WITH THAT? FUCK

why not octave

whats something really good for checking network usage and bandwidth

Photoshop's faster and fits in with all the other Adobe products. But yeah GIMP's a lot more powerful than people want to give credit, just doesn't beat PS.

GIMP = image editor
GIMP =/= strictly a graphics drawing program
Krita = graphics drawing program

I hope that solves the issue.

>I just remembered just how fucked up Mathematica's scripting language is.
What do you mean? It's the only proper functional term-rewriting language in any common algebra system. Once your notebooks break 100 lines and include anything nontrivial all other systems become useless.

>>>doesn't automatically refresh fonts when a new one is installed
There's a refresh button. Also just script it, if you need it. The scripting api is there for a reason, cuck.

>potatoshop takes so fucking long to start that it needs to have a feature to refresh fonts when you add them to your system
I can count on a quadruple amputee's fingers the number of times I installed a font when I had an image editor opened.
