because normies don't know what you mean when you say superkey, does mac call it a superkey or just not have one?

Clover.

Why do you care faggot?

how am i supposed to open a terminal in i3 without it

Because fuck you, that's why.

It's called command on apple keyboards

Because you're a pleb who didn't buy a glorious mechanical keyboard

These same keybinds are defaults in Cinnamon too, except for Win + Space. What was that one again?

On Macs it's called Command and has a little clover (⌘) symbol on it. It used to have an Apple logo but that changed a few years ago. Quite brand and platform-agnostic compared to a Windows key.

it's the super key and it's awesome

Windows is still the most used OS on the desktop.

There are tons of mechanical keyboards that have Windows keys.

You might want to get more specific than that, retard.

A E S T H E T I C

That's the GNU/Linux alternative key cap?

It's called command but they use it like control.

Is there a way to remove it without ruining the keycap?

>Is there a way to remove it without ruining the keycap?
Just use a program to disable it. Only retards who don't know anything about computers do retarded shit like that.

I believe he was talking about removing the windows logo not the functionality

I use the key. I just don't use Windows.

Switch input methods

pretty sure he's just talking about removing the logo bruh, the key itself is actually usefull but the winders logo is annoying

unixstickers.com/stickers/linux-keyboard-stickers/gnu-project-circle-keyboard-stickers#intro

It's not. I'm using an Apple keyboard with my Linux desktop.

That's worse than I expected, and I expected some penguin.

Thumb-positioned primary modifier is comfy. I don't know how folks deal with Control sitting in the Wastelands of Overstretched Pinkies on the far bottom right and left.

If I used Windows or Linux regularly the only way I'd not get pissed off about it is to remap Caps Lock or Alt to Control

Let me give you an advice my friend, take it off to debotnet your keyboard and post a pic.

Do...Do people not use it? Do people not use keyboard commands now?

>Win
It's called the Sys key.

I use alt-d instead. Also, space invader switches feel awesome.

FOR THIS

Just scrub it off using the rough part of a sponge and water.

Why does the modern Windows logo look like a swasticka

I can't live without this...
/thread

For the commands, duh

I want to see a completely open sourced laptop in my lifetime.

>make it look similar to the windows key
We all know why they did this.

best mod key desu

no programs made ever capture it or bind it so you're free to use it for every WM function ever.

>using a program that binds alt-d
>press alt-d
>oh shit

lol

That's fucking terrible
Doesn't compare to mission control©®™

The WM always get prioritized

Except that icon is based on an old nordic symbol for 'place of interest'.

Most of my AutoHotkey shortcuts use it as a modifier, and I've never had conflicts with other programs (except for when I purposely overwrite OS shortcuts I don't like)

I use i3wm, and I have not seen any programs that use alt-d. On windows I use capslock as super though.

because it is. change the keycap if you want.

that key works for OS's

...

Ment to quote you, not nordic symbol guy.

Looks like shit.

0/10

Literally the worst anime.

Because keyboard shortcuts are for real men. Cucks use the mouse.

Haven't seen whatever anime this comes from, just like the pic.

ITT: half of all posters dont get what the thread is about, and all of them are windows users

How the fuck you go to places in windows 8 and up without WIN + R?
WIN + R, control, winword, wordpad, write, mspaint, notepad, psp, iexplore....

Or go to the fucking file browser (WIN + E), or get to the desktop (WIN + D)....
Or do you.... USE THE MOUSE????

Already happened, m9.

In Gnome it's the key you press to display all windows, I smash it daily.

So that's why EO always had a clover symbol for chests. Neat, you learn something new every day.

Nice try, but Mac keyboards have been rocking Command keys since the very first Mac, predating Windows keys by 9 years.

>no win + X

pleb

>using windows
>using windows 8/10
>having start menu searching that is horrid, so you have to resort to win x

Just another one of those things that the Xerox Star didn't have that the Mac had.
Along with drop-down menues, folders, etc.

And before them the Apple ][ had Open and Closed Apple keys (which became the Command and Option keys on the Mac).
But from the earliest days there were non-typewriter "function" keys on PC keyboards

super key is super fucking useful. Who cares if it has windows logo on it, you can get a replacement.

If your keyboard didn't have a diamond on it then you have no business on this board.

Too bad windows search is the worst thing ever.
Damn thing refuses to index another drive.
Y'know, the one I store all my programs on.

I don't have one, CM Storm Trigger

even better, picrel is vanilla server technical preview 4

Thank you for the first suggestion, probably not used fully to it.
As for the second suggestion, I'm trying to keep my desktop as much bloat free as possible.

win + +/- has been my friend lately when using hdmi out to tv

'sex' shows visual studio code and ddd for me. Wow ubuntu knows me really well, this is where I get all my sex

>not using Windows 7 with deskpot which does this 10x times better

I use 4 default mods on every windows installation I have.

A registry hack to hide away the blue bar with copy/cut/new folder etc from file browser with Clover to bring chrome tabs and functionality to the file browser

7 taskbar tweaker to allow me special functionalities and shortcuts with the taskbar (middle click taskbar zeroes volume, mouse wheen on notification area controls volume Ecc)

this for virtual desktop and further functionalities (panic button, window management, screen border functions, new key combos)

Net speed monitor widget on the notification area shows network speeds and adds shortcuts for troubleshooting and core temp to always monitor generic system status

All for 40ish Mb of ram. None of these show logos and can all be set to be completely invisible (no taskbar open app, neither in notification area)

werks4me

>using botnet10
I was talking about windows 7

this is how clover makes explorer look like. the white stripe ccan be edited out but >effort

Join us brother

>calls people retarded

why the fuck wouldnt it be?
you think your linux is prevalent enough to warrant such a thing? fucking lmao

No, fuck that. Ill install my cracked Win10 when programs arbitrarily stop working for windows 7.

>Rightclick taskbar
>task manager

>not the superior windows key + r and write taskmgr and press enter

why not the superior

Or the best way.... Ctrl+Shift+Esc

Use Everything instead.

>not having task manager pinned to the taskbar on the very left and using win+1

delete index and rebuild. takes a good day to fully build indexes for big drives

does ms pay them?
to add that button?

this

pinned programs are gross. I only use the taskbar for open programs.

Win + tab

No. Microsoft added it to their own keyboard and everyone else started doing it too because who would want a shitty keyboard where you can't even open the start menu with the press of a key?

>pinned programs are gross
this. only explorer and browser are pinned to my taskbar, nothing else is as frequently used, nor requires a fast as possible access to

i

>ctrl+shift+esc

Done.

bind it to a different key like you should do anyway?

So what ? They chose a nordic symbol similar to Windows' logo not to confuse normies

The 'Place of Interest' icon has been used on Apple Hardware predating any Windows keyboard.
