Top 10 are me (the OP)

THREAD CLOSED!!

Got a link?

What link¿?

To the config of that laptop that's better than the OP.

This is legit the best 15" laptop to buy. Apple's gotten lazy.

This OP was posted verbatim like a week ago. Please purge yourself and never reproduce to autistic faggot.

Dell website

OP refers to the 13" rMBP. Over 13" and prices get silly (all brands)

Leave the thread, shitposters.

Leave the world , shithead

There's something about the proportions of it that make it just weird looking. The bottom bezel is inexcusably large for a laptop made in 2016.

>WE HAVE THE SMALLEST BEZELS EVER
>makes the bottom bezel one of the largest and most disproportionate pieces

Ridiculous

It's 16:9 so it looks silly as fuck.

We already had this thread

Can we finally put an end to this retarded thread?

Where would they put the webcam?

Thanks my friends

Got a link?

We had it several times already. OP just likes to copy-pasta and see if some fishes decide to catch the bait.

No worries

shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/thinkpad/x-series/x1-carbon-4/

Somewhere in your room. It doesn't make any difference.

$150 less for a worse screen, far worse battery life, slower SSD, worse trackpad and modern Lenovo build quality and support.

Can pay closer to $1300 for a marginally bigger SSD.

You don't say anything about the MBP CPU and RAM ¿?¿

Ridiculous arguments

It's the same thickness as the all-around bezels of macbooks tho.

This fucking thread again?

The rMBP comes with 8GB RAM and an i5 too. Stressing over what models the i5 are is just wankery.

And how are those arguments ridiculous?

>> 54447160

Boring and rainy Sunday
Any suggestions?

shut up bitch

hahhahahaha
Let's go to another thread my friend

square up, nigga. if you wanna take this outside we can go to Sup Forums

...

Stressing over what the SSD speed is just wankery.

Does anyone actually use these things?

I'd much rather just have a laptop without a fucking webcam

NVMe is a huge step up from normal. 10 more nerd points in a floating point benchmark is utterly meaningless. I haven't even checked if the rMBP i5 is better or worse. It might even be better, but it still doesn't matter enough.

aww yeah check out these strawmen Sup Forums? BOOM there they go, you mad?

dude no one cares

XPS13/15 is the only correct solution if you want a traditional (ultrabook) laptop

What does traditional mean here?

I guess I actually agree, I couldn't give a shit, I never use the webcam on my XPS 13 anyway. Everyone has a smartphone if they have an emergency where they need a webcam session, and otherwise should get a professional setup.

Would be so nice if it was 16:10 and just had a razor-thin bezel on all four edges.

What about the HP Spectre 13?

>trackpad impossible to click near upper edge
>extremely loose near bottom edge
>overall flimsy diving board piece of shit
>even applel themselves has admitted it's utter shit now and has trashed the design to go back to copying 90's era laptops with solid non-click touchpads
>still has no real buttons
>relies on pressure sensitive gimmick bullshit
>if you press too lightly or too hard it does something completely different than what you intended
>ultra shit tier zero travel chiclet keyboard
>OSX is a steaming pile of shit with horrendous battery management
>applel's solution is to cram in a massive heavy 95WHr battery to make up for it
>even XXXTREME GAMER cancer like razer blade with 4X the CPU/GPU power and 70WHr battery matches it in battery life in same tasks
>gets BTFO by 55WHr Yoga 2 in battery life in same tasks
>the battery takes up the space where a cooling system would've been in a laptop not designed by the world's thinnest and lightest gay hipsters
>overheats at the slightest task because abysmal crippled cooling system
>throttles to 800mhz because of chronic overheating problems
>retina meme supposedly for "pros" have have blurry as shit retina meme scaling

>macshit is good
Can we finally put an end to this meme?

>$1300 rMBPs are light, have a 2560x1600 retina display
>posts brick with 15" screen
Wintards are literally illiterate.

Pretty much all of the problems Carbon has, plus inferior trackpad and isn't it more expensive?

Given how people bitch about rMBPs price, there should certainly be a laptop for half the price matching its qualities, not an inferior one for a similar price, right?

It's pretty much Retina Macbook with worse battery life, trackpad and ridiculous 16:9 screen.

Also not exactly cheap.

ITT: a lonely macfag samefags himself into a tizzy

That laptop has a higher resolution than any macbook, weighs as much as a macbook with the same screen size and comes in 13" and 15" sizes, just like the Macbook.

Pic related is the 15" XPS vs the 13" Macbook. Notice how despite the Macbook having a smaller screen, it takes up more space. Which one was the brick again?

XPS 13 Developer Edition with Iris Graphics 1649
MacBook pro 13 with Iris 1499

Try again - Sure, you could get the XPS13 with intel 520 for 1099, but who's gouging their customer when you move to comparable cards?

Lol bitch

The battery is not "much worse", I'll install a nvm ssd for $150 myself, ultranav is a shit ton better than your trackpad the build is still extremely solid. Oh yeah and by the way, thinkpad keyboard >> macbook shit. Kill youself faggot

>xps13-vs-macbook15.jpg

Also the whole: Worse battery life, worse trackpad and 16:10 cancer jazz. 4K can't make up lacking physical space.

They have weak as fuck CPUs, and mostly don't even have a dGPU.
You can't upgrade anything in them (ram, HDD, SSD ...).
There are no mouse buttons, integrating the mouse buttons with the trackpad is the worst shit ever.
The keyboard feels like pressing on wet toilet paper.
They come with OS X, and I hate OS X.
They also perform like shit compared to any other computer in the same price range when running Windows/Linux.

I named the jpg and made a mistake obviously.

>Worse battery life
Except that's wrong:
>notebookcheck.net/Dell-XPS-13-9343-Touchscreen-Ultrabook-Review.135817.0.html
>The XPS 13 features a rather large 52 Wh internal battery
>The most realistic of the tests, however, is the WiFi Surfing test, where we activate Power Saver, set brightness to as close to 150 cd/m2 as possible (40% in this case), and simulate web surfing across a variety of sites. The result here was an excellent 9 hours and 40 minutes

>notebookcheck.net/Apple-MacBook-Pro-Retina-13-Early-2015-Notebook-Review.139621.0.html
>Apple equips its MacBook with an impressive 74.9 Wh module
>The MBP can actually impress us with realistic runtimes between 9 and 10 hours
So despite the Macbook having around 1/3 more battery, they have the same battery life.

>worse trackpad
I could whine about how subjective this is, but in reality I never used a trackpad I liked, so whatever.

>4K can't make up lacking physical space.
>ratio
>physical space
How dumber can a statement be. If you have a higher-resolution 16:9 display and had a huge boner for 16:10, you can just block lateral pixels until you reach a lower-resolution 16:10 display with higher PPI than what you were aiming for, so yes IT CAN make up.
Except in this case the XPS' also has higher vertical resolution, so you'd have to block pixels from every edge, not just the sides.
16:10 is better, but your statement is entirely wrong.

>They come with OS X, and I hate OS X.
Oh, you are so cool...
Wanna fuck?

>made a mistake obviously.
The mistake wasn't the name. 15" XPS is larger than 13" rMBP, you can look up the dimensions. The Macbook bezels are huge but not THAT much bigger.

>So despite the Macbook having around 1/3 more battery, they have the same battery life.
I think you missed that it was a different test, and it also has a more powerful 28W CPU/GPU, comparable to the Skylel i7 version. While the great test result is from 15W Broadwell XPS. With Skylel Macbook there will be once again a bigger performance difference and probably at least half a hour longer battery life.

>The MBP can actually impress us with realistic runtimes between 9 and 10 hours, which were determined with a display brightness of 167 cd/m2.
>the results in our new WLAN Test v1.2 are generally 10% shorter compared to the old scenario, so the values are not fully comparable with the predecessor as well as some rivals.

>notebookcheck.net/Dell-XPS-13-2016-i7-256-GB-QHD-Notebook-Review.155081.0.html
Is more accurate, and they still use lower brightness on the XPS.

>I could whine about how subjective this is
Oh come on, keyboard, sure. There is nothing subjective about Apple trackpads being best in class.

>but in reality I never used a trackpad I liked
Time to get a macbook, eh?

As for resolution/aspect ratio, your method wouldn't make up for the physical size, sure you can display the same amount of content on XPS, even more but it's a less extreme version of having 4K on a phone, the physical size is a bigger issue.

Now even if we ignore all of that and pretend the battery life, screens and trackpads are equal, there is barely any price difference, and if I recall it right, XPS with similar spec is actually more expensive for Amerifats but cheaper for Yuropoors. Hence the meme that they are overpriced remains a meme and we can discuss laptops without annoying poorfags!

>assembled by suicidal chinamen using glue to bind the screen to the frame
>woeful ventilation, can't use a macbook pro for anything pro unless you want to render using barely 1ghz
>awful typepad
>can't upgrade shit
>cheapest nvme SSDs out there probably conk out before the rest of the computer does
>which is in 2 years because of planned obsolescence
>which is real and you know it if you have ever worked in a computer repair shop

>yay it's got a high res screen
>but it's only 15 inches which sucks unless you literally do graphical work with the computer on your lap
>which you don't want to do because it will burn a hole in your skin unless you limit your activity to only browsing facebook

>but it's got UNIX
>which is used for nothing because the majority of the userbase doesn't even know what UNIX is
>or is used by pajeets who buy them out with overpriced payment plans because they are [code}coders[/code]
>it actually makes sense to maybe 6% of the mac userbase
>of which all the non karlie klosses are macbook pro users
>which in turn means to have a decent device you must sink a couple grand on it

All things combined in all cases it belongs to the trash bin unless they drop the prices by at least 20%. But even then you are getting a flimsy glued together computer that is impossible to fix if anything goes wrong, because the manufacturer has riddled it with booby traps so any attempts to fix it will further break it unless you take it to some $500/hr specialist

You managed to beat the autism of the shit obsessed spammer, not bad.

Here is your well deserved (You)

Shill shill shill shill shill

>and it also has a more powerful 28W CPU/GPU
While this is true and if I had seen it I wouldn't have posted the comparison, I believe this is your post:
>10 more nerd points in a floating point benchmark is utterly meaningless. I haven't even checked if the rMBP i5 is better or worse. It might even be better, but it still doesn't matter enough.
>Stressing over what models the i5 are is just wankery
Which is exactly what you're doing, so which is it?
Also the XPS on that test is the touchscreen version which for some reason reduces battery life considerably. Seriously can't be bothered to look up another comparison.

>Time to get a macbook, eh?
I've used a Macbook for about a full day, it didn't feel smooth. Again, don't care what reddit says, this was my experience. I'm conceding on this simply because I don't have the energy to discuss something I don't care about.

>your method wouldn't make up for the physical size, sure you can display the same amount of content on XPS, even more but it's a less extreme version of having 4K on a phone, the physical size is a bigger issue.
But the physical size is smaller. A 15" XPS is smaller than a 15" MBP and the same goes for the 13". So the XPS displays more content on a smaller frame, and somehow this is a con? I don't get it.
I like 16:10 more than 16:9 as well, but for fuck's sake, I wouldn't pick a display with worse resolution over it. The whole idea of 16:10 is having more vertical space to see more, but if it has less vertical pixels I see less. The 4k extreme analogy remains that: an extreme analogy.

>Hence the meme that they are overpriced remains a meme and we can discuss laptops without annoying poorfags!
Dude that thing started because people realized a 17" MSI had better pure specs (CPU, HDD size and RAM) than macbooks in 2011. Let it go.
If this is your point, then sure, they're not overpriced for what they are, as in any comparable laptop will have a comparable price.

>Look mom, I posted it again!

>Which is exactly what you're doing, so which is it?
was my first post in this thread

Whether the difference of 15W - 28W matters depends on the user case, but having more power never hurts if it doesn't result in penalty for battery life. My main point was that the battery life being similar despite larger battery makes sense and it's not MUH INEFFICIENCY. As for SSD speeds, I'd say 600ish read/write is a good minimum for this price class, NVMe would be an advantage worth mentioning but the benefit itself would be marginal. (Though they might be more efficient)

>which for some reason reduces battery life considerably
Sounds pretty weird, unless they messed up the drivers bad. I think it's more down to the i7. (Also noted in test too) although it having a worse battery life, might be again down to drivers/bios.

>I've used a Macbook for about a full day, it didn't feel smooth
It needs bit more to appreciate the difference, in such a short time you would treat it too much like a Windows trackpad without getting the full benefit of gestures, also it's not just ledit, basically any tech site jizzes over them. Though sure, if you don't care about it, it's not much of a plus.

>But the physical size is smaller
Sure, my point was only that 15" XPS isn't smaller or the same size as 13" rMBP. 13" XPS is smaller indeed and lighter too, which should count as a plus of course. (if it doesn't have other negative effects like silly temps or fan noise)
>Pic related is the 15" XPS vs the 13" Macbook.
Based on this

>The whole idea of 16:10 is having more vertical space to see more, but if it has less vertical pixels I see less.
You might see lesser pixels, so theoretically lesser information but if you want it to be effectively readable, practically you get less due 16:9. Since the phone one was too extreme, how about 12" 16:9 4K vs 13'3 16:10 Retina as example. The difference is smaller again on same sized screens but it's there.
