It was never alive in the first place.
WHAT IS DEAD MAY NEVER DIE
The Draugr want to have a quick word with you.
Shortly after the first generation of home computers (commodore 64, zx spectrum, ect)
Because the creator is a BASIC bitch
Because it was too basic.
Because universities don't teach it anymore.
I want to code, not write a goddamn novel.
lol this
Because there is no worthwhile standard.
>it needs to look alien so people think i'm smart
>I like typing more
You have a mechanical keyboard that makes "satisfyingly loud clicks", don't you?
Because it was slow, and if you wanted anything of decent quality, you had to revert to assembly.
>i enjoy writing entire novels of code that run slow as shit
For what purpose?
It made software development too easy and Jews didn't like that.
It's not dead, my company actually still uses it for our intranet. It's horrifying.
That's why there's a massive jewish campaign to force everyone to use C instead of javascript.
Easy to program = more employable programmers = faster release cycles and more grandiose projects, more competition, lower wages = more money
...
Meh, he said the same sort of shit about COBOL too.
Dumb blanket statement.
>JavaScript
>Not Even Once
same applies to java desu
That faggot said a lot of bullshit.
He even had his own journal for shitposts.
Just because he made one or two contributions to computer science, doesn't make him a computer prophet.
I was first exposed to programming via vb6. It made me want to learn more. 12 years later, here I am designing and programming for embedded systems in C/asm
Proprietary.
still using it.

I really wish all modern scripting languages would add optional typing. I think python just did it.
It makes scripting a big api so much easier. Just look up one or two top-level types and the program writes itself with autocomplete.
>basic
>proprietary
Not all BASICs are MS-BASIC for MS-DOS/ Visual Basic
And even then, mono comes with a VB.net compiler
Because it's a shitty language that was cobbled together like Frankenstein's monster endlessly added to and altered without a vision as to what the language should be
He's asking WHY, not WHEN, retard.
I still use VB.
Everything you do is probably shit though. You should recognize your limits and stay out of system languages lest you fuck shit up with your permanent VB handicap.
He was speaking about the old BASIC, the one with the line numbers and GOTO everywhere.
Ah yess! Fond memories...
Because everybody could learn it fast and easily.
stop
A lot of work and research involves making programs "more secure" and BASIC immediately gets rid of 90% of those problems.
A large portion of Microsoft Windows is coded in Visual Basic
Still using VB for enterprise class software development
Because BASIC users minds got mutilated beyond recovery
That's visual basic you fucking spazdick
