Windows 10 isnt a fucking botnet we swear

>windows 10 isnt a fucking botnet we swear

so why the fuck does this shit need a fucking internet connection?

To verify that the file is legit, obviously.
I can also sign my file with "NVidia Corporation".

Why the fuck do you even have smartscreen enabled?

Wow.
Install gentoo.

but why does it need to send this info to microsoft?

because i dont want to go into settings and disable it too lazy

>Decide if this app is okay to run.

War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength.

Install Gentoo

>install shitvidya drivers
>your card dies
>retards blame MS for it
>MS starts blocking them until they can be verified
I'd like MS to stop that install too.

Here's how it works:

You try to run a file.
The file MD5 is sent to Microsoft.
They match MD5 with their database of fishy shit.
Send you response, now you know whether the file is a known virus.

Or, you disable SmartScreen and move on with your life.

>App

and then i have to disable itn every single fucking time i reinstall windows for any reason

#firstworldproblems

If you reinstall so often so that toggling a setting becomes a burden for you, then throw your PC out of the nearest window.

Linux doesn't have this problem

>every single fucking time i reinstall windows for any reason

Do you reinstall Windows on daily basis or what?

>he doesn't reinstall fresh every 4-6 months

Sounds like a non-issue then.

Also, I reinstalled for the first time in 3 years like 2 weeks ago.

Actually, why?

Im not him, but I run my Windows 7 without reinstallation for like 5 years or something and dont see the reason I should do fresh reinstall every few months.

So you're fine with losing access to your PC a while, needing to reinstall all your programs, log into all your accounts and shit, but can't be assed to turn off SmartScreen? You're retarded m8.

>he likes clutter built up on his hard drive
>he trusts shit like CC cleaner
>he wants to take the time searching through folders trying to figure out what the hell is taking up so much space

If you're going to do something dumb such as reinstalling this often, at least make a disk image with all your settings and shit ffs.

>he uses DD

>he doesnt know how to properly mantain his OS

You ae just like those kids suggesting full format in case of finding malware.

Keep a backup. I had shit installed on my SSD, which is the only reason I reinstalled Windows in the first place. Now I got Windows on one disk, all programs on one partition, and the rest of my personal files on another partition.

Will probably not reset this Windows in a long time. But this time I am prepared, and have a system built up for this.

None of this is difficult; you're biggest problem is almost always the WinSXS folder that holds updates as far as "bloat" goes on Windows.

and there is no wy to deal with that winSXS folder without trusting some shitty software for it i cannot manually clear it in any way

Your sentence is fully correct, YOU cannot clear it. Anyone with half a brain could though.

ok how the fuck do i clear it short of bootng a linux live CD and doing it that way

Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup
Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase
Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /SPSuperseded

disable it you cucking fuck

My guess is they run some kind of server similar to virustotal, they run a quick hash check and determine whether it's safe or not

Can someone paste that copypasta that shows proof that windows 10 is spying / stealing your info and proud of it

You can't, actually.

How fucking often do you install Windows?

Surely I can modify the publisher to say whatever I want?

I don't mean legit sign it, I'm referring to giving the impression that the file comes from whoever. Is it not possible?

You can't, actually.

You'd need their private key to sign things that corresponded with the public key in the trusted root of the computer.

Your certificate wouldn't be in the trusted root if you signed it with your keypair.

>>
Windows will detect that the publisher is not in the trusted root and warning will display that the publisher is unverified, giving away instantly that it's a fakery.

For others curious, this is Windows Smartscreen. It transmits a filename and CRC (to my knowledge) of the recently downloaded file in question and checks it against Microsoft's servers to see if it is known to be malicious.

It's one of those features you disable instantly.

>It's one of those features you disable instantly.
who the fuck disables anti-malware? Especially on a Windows machine

>get a malicious file
>ganoo loonix doesn't have based SmartScreen, so the file is executed anyways
>you now have a rootkit installed fag
Wow Loonix is sooo much better and secure!

People who don't want the name of every executable file they download and run being transmitted to Microsoft.

It's a very marginal anti malware solution, considering it's just meant as a brief means of last line defense before a program is run. It's more to perpetuate the "walled garden" approach microsoft are migrating towards, i.e, only download authorised apps from them, etc.

It's also used for analytics.

>Have Windows 10
>Working on computer
>UPDATE SOON popup appears
>Is held down and forced to install updates
>"Windows is now preparing to install Windows 10"
>"All your files are where you've left them"
>2 hours later
>"We'll be ready soon"

>t's a very marginal anti malware solution, considering it's just meant as a brief means of last line defense before a program is run.

It's essentially a built-in VirusTotal, though Microsoft's database is probably larger and better maintained than VT.

I consider that a pretty good line of defense, especially when the PC you're selling/deploying is used by tech illiterates or kids who will download and run any .exe file

>App

I have not seen command line switches that start with a forward slash in years.

>feels good man.

>using pirated windows 7 since 2011
>no updates, no problems

So Bill Gates can collect data on your porn collection.

>use pirated Windows 7 since 2011
>still get updates
Only occasionally does Windows Update start bitching about my computer running an unregistered version of Windows.

Another problem I have run into recently

>Get home at 1 AM
>Dead tired
>Fall on my bed and go into a deep slumber
>...
>Computer fans suddenly roar up
>All the LED lights in the case illuminate the dark room
>Monitors turn on and floods the room with blue
>I am awakened
>Look at the time
>It is 3 AM
>Monitor reads "UPDATING"
>Computer never goes to sleep or shuts back down
>I have work again at 7 AM

so turn off your monitors you lazy fuck

why do people keep using botnet windows?
unless you play gaymes 24/7 you dont need windows.

>not disabling smart screen on the initial windows config
>buhuu why is it asking me about stuff
Kys you stupid nigger faggot. I swear to god I'm gonna nuke this board if you post stupid shit again you dumb motherfucker. I bet your parents failed at aborting you and that's why you sit here and shitpost.

VirusTotal analyses files that it hasn't encountered before. I don't think microsoft's solution does, because it doesn't transmit the entire file.

Please disable your tripcode. It's not welcome on this board.
Also kys

Autistic and probably watching singing contests right now

Actual hardware support
Adobe
Office

Except that we have package repos with keypair and checksum verification so 99% of the time were not installing random garbage from the internet that can't be guaranteed to be from the original provider.

That's the price of backwards compatibility.

>implying people don't download .deb/.rpm/.tar from shady websites and install them manually.
>implying the NSA can't convince some distro maintainer to give them their private key so they can sign maliciously crafted packages.

>office
You probably mean Office at an advanced level(like proprietary plugins, Macros and more stuff)

indeed
libreoffice etc. just cannot replace corporate-backed ms office at a professional level.

Because there were multiple instances of code signing keys getting stolen.

It needs to check if the file isn't on the code signing revoke list.

This shit hasn't been the norm since Windows 98. Get with the program retard. I bet you manually defrag as well.

>implying I use precompiled binary based distros

Except we were talking about running hiijacked downloads with malicious intent vs nsa spying/backdoors.

If you're trying to use that as a point against linux distros in general that's retarded as bangblows comes with nsa backdoor ootb.
