>Manjaro not in the picture

discarded.jpg

Manjaro is literally arch linux with an installer. It shouldn't even be treated as a separate distro.

Only non-joke distros are included.

stallman can't even install his own OS, he'd never be a gentoo user

He could if he didn't have minions to do it for him. He's a fucking genius, he just doesn't enjoy wasting his time like an archfag

Yeah, pretty sure all he does now is give conferences and blog about evil software on his site. Some productivity. The last time he created software must've been 1980's

Prove me wrong

I only know what 2-4 are because where the fuck are the labels dude

If only we could have programmable machines to automate complex but redundent software tasks so that we didn't have to spend hours installing operating systems or hire slaves to do it for us

oh wait, that's what every other operating system does. they use installers.

that's a nice series of pictographs

>He can't identify the users
Let me spoon feed you: From left:
1. Winbabby
2. Ubuntu cuck
3. Suicidial debqueen
4. Redhat prajeet
5. Fedora beta cuck
6. Archnigger

What is wrong with Fedora exactly? It is the most convenient RHEL-based distro I have ever used.

He uses trisquel which has an installer what are you even going on about?

Also it has the best fucking rept. If you Google how to get a package that your repos don't have you'll likely find someone advising to add the Fedora repo to your list.

Nobody cares about your OSes preference memes

Get it over with, nobody gives a shit about which OS you use and why.

No it isn't, you're confusing Manjaro with Antergos

Nothing, it is objectively the best distribution.

T. Arch user

rms uses trisquel, not gentoo. Gentoo isn't even approved by the FSF.

Man, I'm still a kid using Linux. In fact I'm a baby. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH

Being a kid was the best time of my life ;_;

This is Sup Forums. Petty arguments over preferences is the definition of this board now.

and yet you treat ubuntu as a separate distro then debian?

I wish i could grow a beard like that...

No, we treat their user base as different

Well. Let's all investigate Manjaro to see if it is worth including.

>look mom, I posted it again

Stallman does NOT USE GENTOO.

OP's pic is Ubuntu propaganda. People who use Ubuntu want to think theyre users are 'normal' and Ubuntu is an advanced distro, theyre constantly trying to shoot down Mint, trying to make Unity look like its separate and not shoved down the users throat for so many years. I really hate the Ubuntu community, its taken over by fanatics, its no wonder everyone is trying to leave it and that Mint has more users

RMS dislikes Gentoo as it is not his definition of free software or something

I could tell for all but the last

Say that on the arch forums.

I use Ubuntu Unity and it's pretty accurate. I don't look as much like a cuck, because I'm somewhat /fit/ and have beard, but I'm some obnoxious college kid that's a wannabe programmer.

>>Get it over with, nobody gives a shit about which OS you use and why.

Trust me people do care here.

Yeah, a lot of operating systems baby people. Atleast Gentoo lets you do it yourself. I encourage new users to use meta distros because of the root shell installation.

I'm an Ubuntu user but I look nowhere near as good as the guy in the picture.

Come on, I use Ubuntu, why can't I not be ugly?

That's because Stallman doesn't like unfree software. He wasn't completely aware of the masking policy that Gentoo provides. It's still not 'Stallman approved' but it's a hell of a lot better than other distros.

>Debian
>professionals
lel no, that OS is for cucks.

Anyone who has used linux for more than a couple of years knows Debian is the best and most stable distro out there. If they use something else that's just personal preference or because they got used to it.

I'm sick of people who just installed arch or fedora or whatever as their first distro shitting on Debian. Debian has the largest server share on the internet. There's a good reason for that.

Yes, good cuck. Support the distro that removes packages that triggers them. At least arch and fedora supports free speech.

>Buttblasted debqueen actually took the bait
ahahahaaha

Slackware user.

Can confirm I am indeed a 45-year-old with an iPhone and a bowl cut.

Sent from my bowl cut. Wait, no, my iPhone.

>Cuckware user
How does it feel to use an officially deprecated bootloader in the year of 2016?

Pretty good, actually. Nothing wrong with lilo.

>Support the distro that removes packages that triggers them.

Necrophilia should be treated as mental illness.
Enjoy your future security bugs

>future security bugs
Slackware is so stable, I might not need to ever reboot my computer ever again.

>Debian women
>refused to add a package because of authors beliefs
>wanted to remove tux kart because of "sexuality"

You can't be serious

agreed
lilo is maintained by patrick volkerding and his devs as of dec last year.

I wish I was joking

How an arch user spends their time

>Ian actually fucking killed himself
We've come too far

MEME MAGIC IS REAL

Don't be retarded
Slackware is the last pure Linux distro around
Also it's still the best distro for living room PCs that just need a stable as fuck distro with everything included

>I am currently posting from mint

just bash it into shape and it will stay that way forever.

Honestly ever since systemd rolled out if arch breaks it's your fault.
Exactly
Upgrades are flawless too, unlike debian where dist-upgrade is a disaster
Also the Slackware installer is the best OS installer bar none

>>Exactly

Preaching to the choir bro.

Where is openSUSE?

>not posting superior version

geez

Why would Stallman use Gentoo?

because it's 100% free as in freedom, but RMS currently uses Trisquel

>100% free as in freedom
Gentoo's default installation medium contains non-free software.

Can someone explain to me why taking debian or arch, adding a DE+theme, and a few preinstalled packages constitutes that being called a whole new distro?
Shit like Manjaro are just retarded, especially the mongoloid community holy shit

99% of distros are the same shit (linux kernel, one of 3 package managers and one or more DEs) Obanto started the whole "DE's are diffrent distros" with their retarded "flavors" concept

I chose Manjaro over Arch mainly because it was easier to install it, and I was a bit pressed for time as semester was starting, and from what I read it's at least a tiny bit more stable, not being as bleeding edge as Arch. I'm thinking about changing it when the summer comes around.

>Trisquel
Yeah that looks like the OS of wizards and witches.

Truth.

>Obanto started the whole "DE's are diffrent distros" with their retarded "flavors" concept
What on Earth are you talking about?

>no package manager
Enjoy spending an hour hunting down dependencies

Arch takes all of 15 minutes to install, and another maybe 20 to set up.
There's no reason for you to use linux if you're scared of the CLI

Package manager dependency resolution

Also in my experience, most packages have between zero and two dependencies. It's basically a non-issue.

Why would I need to when the OS comes with everything I would ever need?
The only extra thing I had to install was mpv and it was no problem

They started naming/delegating support to different DEs and focused only in one (used to e GNOME, now it's Unity) instead of offering one download allowing users to choose DE during install, like Debian or openSUSE

I'm not scared of cli, I use it for a bigger part of my daily routine. That's why I'm thinking about switching to Arch when I have some free time on my hands.

Does Slackware come with the drivers and firmware or will I have to install it manually?

How many programmes do you install in a day?
1000?
Tracking dependencies is easy, and thats if you want to take that route. 1 or 2 deps is the norm for the majority of programmes and thats if it requires any at all. You have never used slackware and it shows.

Huge kernel will take care of it. Its fucking loaded to the max. Check its size.

I haven't had a problem installing it in several years. As the guy above says, the default kernel is like a giant Swiss army knife made up of individual little Swiss army knives.

The idea behind the install process is, chuck everything in, and then you can configure the kernel with a script afterwards.

OK, so it's not like Windows where you have to manually install the drivers and firmware, the kernel handles all of that?

It's actually complete bullshit, no one in corporate actually uses Debian. It's all CentOS/RedHat/Ubuntu. Whoever made this picture probably is a NEET who haven't worked a day in his life. Also once you get past the stage of being linux newfriend you realize it's all the same shit and just use whatever you are happy with.

My former employer's servers run Debian

Man im so fucking lazy sometimes that it takes months for me to get to compiling a generic kernel as the slightly longer boot time doesnt bother me that greatly.

These distro war threads are absolute cancer. One expects this kind of infantile posting on Sup Forums, not on Sup Forums.

why are all of them guys

Yeah, pretty much. Although video card drivers are usually the FOSS version, you have to download the NVidia driver off their website.

I assume it's the same with other vendors, but I always stick with them, because their drivers work really well in Linux.

Other than video card drivers, I haven't downloaded and installed anything else, driver-wise.

The kernel will handle this on any GNU/Linux, desu

I dont use windows so i dont know but ive never had a driver issue with slackware ever. (ever)

user, most of Sup Forums has autism so distro wars is serious business to them.

my autism has nothing to do with the FACT that distro wars are a super serious issue

SUPER

SERIOUS

FACT

robotfucker

>no package manager

slackpkg.

Then of course you can use sbopkg or slapt-get/gslapt for binary packages with dependency resolution. There are others to.

Gotta love Sup Forumstards and their myths.

No, it actually has a number of differences, the biggest being that it doesn't use the normal Arch repos. It has access to the AUR, but its main repos are separately maintained in order to keep things somewhat stable.

Idunno lol

There like 3 real distros. Fedora, Debian and gentoo. Only two if you consider how many actually contribute to kernel development and the ecosystem as a whole.

Add slackware and Arch
One of the main kernel devs uses Arch iirc
I bet Linus would use it as well if he could install it.
The only reason he's on fedora over debian is because it lets you fedora lets you compile your own kernel with minimal hassel

Aerospace scientist here. I love Arch for how similar its lightweight modular design is to modern (and future) space craft.

Giggolo here

I love Arch because it's sleekness reminds me of my girlfriends boipucci.

What pisses me off the most about Linux is that on Windows if I ever encounter a problem I can fix it by simpy restarting the computer.
When something breaks on Linux its broken for good.

they did it again
