I understand some businesses wanting to keep Windows 7 because there are quite a few instances where you must support legacy software, but for average computer users? Windows 10 is like 95% the same under the hood as 7 or 8, uses the same drivers, has much faster performance, is more optimized and modern, and has considerably better improvements. I know I'll get replies condemning me a shill for Microsoft but you guys ought just be realistic here. 90% of computer users have no business running insecure, inferior, and outdated operating systems. The internet is full of criminals and hackers looking to exploit and cause havoc for profit. If you're not upgrading as a responsible internet citizen, you're part of the problem.
I agree with you, people should just get it over with. Windows 10 is a lot better than Windows 7. It won't be fun browsing the internet in 2017 and beyond with a 10 year old unsupported operating system. Upgrading is a no-brainer at this point.

Been using Windows 10 for 6 months so far, and I actually like it. I'm honestly pretty pissed for listening to all the Sup Forums trolls here telling me that it sucked and that the only people praising it are "shills". I guess I'm part of the silent majority who likes Windows 10 too. Upgraded in April and so far I've had zero problems. Also it only takes like 30 seconds to go into the new settings app at the beginning of the install and change the privacy settings.

even though this feels like a troll thread, you are right that MOST users should upgrade. There are some instances (mostly with severely outdated software or hardware) where someone shouldn't upgrade.
I've installed a pirated copy of 7 and activated with daz loader and upgraded to ten on at least three machines. None of them had any activation problems and now have activated copies of 10 pro. It's not difficult.

I only use Windows 7 for iTunes and video games. I use Linux for everything else. (Dual boot obviously) When I tried to upgrade my system, it failed. I don't see the point.

I upgraded already but I'm a bit pissed that the free upgrade is only for my current hardware after July 27th and any updates to my motherboard will require a new key.
Same here. A friend was going to sell me his better motherboard but he's pretty dumb and doesn't really get how to grab windows 10 for free. I explained to him the whole process and instead he went and tried to fucking activate it himself with MS toolkit because that's what works on 8.1.
I'm thinking of just buying myself a new one instead but this is going to happen either way.
After abut 4 hours I managed to put Windows 10 on my brothers tablet. It was on Win8.0 before and was useless. The wifi kept cutting out, it would freeze all the time, generally a pain to use.
Win10 seems to have remedied most of the issues.
The whole experience of upgrading put me off 10. I've never needed to update or change anything in my OS for the past 4 years.
Everything is running as smoothly as ever and I don't want to be pressured into making unnecessary changes.

I'm quite enjoying windows 8.1, I haven't been using it for long because I stuck with 7 for ages after listening to people say 8.1 sucked. The only thing wrong with it is the lack of a start menu, but the new start screen is pretty good if you embrace it.

I upgraded from 8.1 to 10 right when the update came out. I started playing Rocket League and the game ran at 1fps.
I literally used W10 for like 3 minutes before going back to 8.1.
My friends got the free update but they have a bug where it eats all their ram and crashes. Apparently the only way to fix it is to buy it. Gg windows
