Cellular Service

Let's talk cell service plans:

Right now I'm on the $35/mo T-Mobile "unlimited" (actually 5gig) 100 minute plan. I've recently been running out of minutes, and blew my data cap this month.

What are some cell plans that have unlimited talk and text, with over 5 gigs of data that don't cost an arm and leg?

None in America, you got the only one.

If you don't mind Sprints network Boost is the alright.

they all technically have unlimited data

if you want a service with unlimited LTE data, then you aren't gonna find one that cost at least $60

Use google voice for extraneous phone calls (tech support, checking in with someone for 10 seconds).

Outside of that the overage is 10 cents a minute dude lol. There's lots of leeway just chill on your usage; 480p youtube and normal quality music streaming will put you under the 5gb.

Stop being a baby and practice self control, you already have the best-value plan in America.

Eastern Europe here.

Family cellular plan for 4 people

Unlimited calls, text, MMS.
25GB monthly data plan, after 25GB it slows down

Social media traffic (like facebook, twitter, instagram) doesn't count to the overall number of used data.

My share is 10USD/month
Make it times four.

what have you been doing to go through that data cap. I'm not even half through mine is your binge on turned on?

There's no WiFi available at work, so I tether my laptop.

That's what I do, what usually puts me over is when people call me, since that doesn't go through google voice.

The throttled data is actually unusable. They don't just slow down the speed, it times out about 3/4 of the time.

>pleb tier tmobile plan

Meanwhile im sitting here abroad with my AMERICAN t-mobile plan, tehthering my unlimited LTE to my laptop.

Feels good not to be a poorfag.

Is Net10 the best AT&T MVNO?

Boost mobile gives you legit unlimited data @ 55$ a month. I use like 40-60gb each month.

In france 16€/m, everything is unlimited except data. I "only" got 50 gigs.

How much is the truly unlimited T-Mobile plan?

Also, is sprints network shit vs Tmo?

>tfw pay 65 for 3gb of data and 300 minutes calling and it's considered a good deal

i hate canada so much

give it back, tyrone

Been paying 90$/mo since 2012. All the shitty dead spots in the states is the only real downside.

Unsure if the rates have changed. I might've been vrandfathered in. Shouldn't be too far off though.

Where's the T-Mobile™ Representative® when we need em?

Also, Sprint is shit if you plan to leave north america because CDMA networks. Just stick to verizon if you plan to stay in the states .

I'm on verizon I get unlimited talk and text and 3 gb of data for $85

I get unlimited everything inc. 4G data (150 down, 50 up) for 200 NOK (25 USD) in Norway

Lol americans getting rektal analihilated

>being a pleb and needing to pay 90$ for unlimited

oh wow hahahaha

meanwhile im sitting here tethering my unlimited LTE, for under 20€

feels good not to be a americuck

>Implying his bad decisions are our lifestyles
Unlimited everything here. $12 a month.

Damn you guys are lucky. I live in Canada and my plan is 75min, Unlimited SMS but only 100MB of data, all for $36/month.

unlimited salmonella infected fried chicken doesn't count, Tyreese

It's OK to be upset user.

ATT go phone
$40.50 a month if you have a card and auto refill, unlimited talk and text with 2gig of 4g and unlimited choked data after that

look into call fowarding from your tmobile number to the google voice number

what a stupid nigger

Been using the T-mobile unlimited plan the REAL one since it came out and I wont leave it. 5mbs on average though its 2 at my house. The dead spots are disappearing and I can tether now without a issue. Does everything I need.

10Gb with Boost Mobile if it's under a family plan. 2 lines minimum and itll be $65 for both lines. Each line gets 10Gb.

You mean the pre-paid one from Walmart? I only pay $30/month for unlimited text, 1 hr talk time, and "unlimited" data.

I have the $30 plan and had to live on the 5GB limit for the last few weeks, hit the limit within a week, after that the only thing that loaded properly and fast was clover, I guess you really can't escape this place.

>tfw you live out in the sticks and have to pay verizon $45 just to get reliable service
>tfw it is now 49.50 a month thanks to commiefornia taxes
thanks brown

do you have a grandfatherned in plan from 2004 or something?

>I've recently been running out of minutes
Download the hangouts dialer and get a google voice number. It will use your data instead of minutes.

I pay roughly $30-60/mo with Google Fi, plus they refund the data I don't use at the end of the month.

As a bonus it hops between Sprint and T-Mobile. Not too shabby.

I make all of my outbound calls with that, I receive at least 40 inbound calls a month.

I just moved to freedompop, 200MB, 200 minutes, 200 texts. £0/month

You can receive inbound calls with it as well.

>earn €200/month
>"only" have to pay 10% for your data plan
lmao

So I found that Straight Talk (Runs on AT&T's network) offers a $55/mo plan with 10gb. Only stipulation is no tethering...

Correct me if I'm wrong, if I set up a VPN on my phone, that obfuscate all traffic in their eyes, right?

Unlimited data is p nice

>fag talk
>jewing out on a phone you will be using every day
dont

>want to buy xperia z5 international
>choices in burger land include bringing it to at&t or tmobile
>live in bfe so I don't get any signal without wifi calling in my apartment
>don't want to be forced under tmobile rom's thumb
>can't afford at&t
>only verizon gets any signal

Wat do?

>tmobile rom's thumb

What? Anyways, TMo has WiFi calling or you can get a femtocell for free from them to put into your house.

>literal ad built in to the OS

Kill yourself, you shit brain baboon.

Do you have the "binge on" feature added? I'm on the 2 phones unlimited everything with tax is like 110 a month. I really just want peace of mind and for youtube to not buffer when video is in 1080p. I think they also include like 15 or 18 gigs of tethering on each line.

I have a question regarding unlocking phones with AT&T does it notify the registered customer of the phone that you are requesting the unlock code or do they just deny you if you are not their customer. got a phone and I'm running t-mobile and afraid to request the unlock code on the at&t website

Usage on my note 4.

"Binge on" basically forces YouTube/Netflix to 480p and doesn't count it towards your data usage.

AT&T unlimited plan :^)

Sorry for not being clear but yeah that's what I mean. You just can't go around importing good carrier-free phones because they won't have wifi calling, so if you don't have service, would that femtocell thing work?

ATT says it "may" slow down speeds after 22gb.

Have you noticed them actually slowing down?

OP here, I upgraded my line to $60/mo, 10gb, unlimited talk/text. I was gonna go straight talk but they disallow tethering and I'd rather not have to play games just to make my phone work.

Max Jelly

Yep, it basically creates a mini cell tower with similar range to a wifi router.

I live in KC where there are plenty of cell towers so they don't throttle, but when I go to see my parents in western Kansas my speeds do slow to 4G speeds from LTE but that's it. Pic related current cell usage

You do know that 4G > LTE which is improvement of 3G?

Metro PCS. It's prepaid service on the T-mobile network.

You are correct, but wireless carriers like to promote their LTE services as an advancement over 4G.

Can you explain the quoted "unlimited"? I was looking to purchase Tmobile's unlimited plan and they told me they don't throttle unless you use something like 100+ GB.

It's more unlimited in the term that you won't face overage charges even though they have a "soft" cap

$65 with Cricket Wireless on my Nexus 6 for unlimited talk/text/LTE on AT&T's network. LTE is metered at 8mb/s though.

>$65 with Cricket Wireless on my Nexus 6 for unlimited talk/text/LTE on AT&T's network.
>tfw I only pay $55 with boost mobile and get 8gb of mobile hotspot too.

>LTE is metered at 8mb/s though.
LMFAO
>tfw I almost fell for the "sprint has bad networks" meme.

I know that, but OP is claiming the soft cap is 5GB and TMB is claiming it's 100+ GB. Which is it?

here. I guess OP isn't talking about the unlimited data plan since he's only paying 35

WTF dude. I have T-mobile and last I checked my plan was unlimited talk and text a measly 30MB of 3G data and everything throttled to the point of uselessness after that. I can't even access 4G. I'm paying $45/mo I think?

How did you get away with 5GB?

>"Based on network statistics for the most recent quarter, customers who use more than 25GB of data during a billing cycle will be de-prioritized for the remainder of the billing cycle in times and at locations where there are competing customer demands for network resources. At the start of the next bill cycle, the customer’s usage status is reset, and this data traffic is no longer de-prioritized."

PIC FUCKING RELATED

Simple Mobile, $55 gets you unlimited talk, text, and 10GB of 4G LTE data. $60 gets you "unlimited" 4G and I've seen people push as high as 25+GB with no throttling.

It's a prepaid MVNO that uses T-Mobile's network so you'll get the exact same coverage you have now.

They also have a $50 plan with unlimited talk/text and 5GB of 4G data, and a $40 plan with 4GB of data.

Unless you are currently financing your phone through a carrier there is literally no reason not to go with a prepaid MVNO.

How many GB of hotspot does simple mobile give you? Currently looking at the $55 unlimited boost plan and $60 simple mobile plan. boost gives you 8GB of hotspot with their unlimited plan.

I am paying abouy $100 a month for a 5gb Softbank plan.

It is thag high because there are two phones still being payed for on the plan. You have to buy your phones from Softbank because for 4g devices, every sim card has a unique APN login and they wont give it to you to use your own.

Without the phones it is around $50 a month, still extremely high.

Once my contract is up, I am gonna switch to SIMFree. Closer to $20 a month there.

one thing to remember about hotspot limits, they can be bypassed by using a hotspot software that isn't the one built into your mobile OS.

Plenty of apps on the store do this and you can do it internally with some ROMs as well.

>$35, 6GB data only plan on tmobile
>unlimited minutes with hangouts
>tfw

Straight talk has a plan like that I think. 55 or 65$ gets 10 gigs, unlimited talk and text.

Not sure if that plan is currently available. Last I checked it was only being offered online via T-Mobile.com or at Wal-Mart. If you have to activate it with a new number though, it's a plan you can switch to.

> (OP)
>In france 16€/m, everything is unlimited except data. I "only" got 50 gigs.
Yeah I agree I pay 3.99 for one year because I have a special deal. I Change carriers a lot. That's the good part of not having a carrier phone

I know but I'm looking to use the mobile hotspot feature to connect to other devices. wifi tethering is very locked down on most phones or requires you to use a VPN to bypass carrier packet inspection which can cause huge problems with things like netflix.

So I take it simple mobile does not offer hotspot with the unlimited plan?

Is that for Japan?

Yes.

I'm on Verizon with unlimited talk, text, and 30gb of data for about $100 a month.

kek

Goddamn... do you ever actually get anywhere close to using that much data?

...

lmao

GayT&T
>2 phones 1 tablet
>Unlimited talk and text
>30gb of data
>$180 a month total
>just 1 phone would be about $155
I also got in when they had a promotion to go from 15gb to 30gb for like $10 so itd probably more expensive but 15-20gb should be pretty good for you. Also if you REALLY want you can get directtv and get unlimited data if they're still doing the promotion.

Cycle reset yesterday. Average usage each month is about 26gb, I personally use 8-12gb My portion of my bill is $100, which is my line plus the entirety of the data plan. I have 6 additional lines that share this plan and pat they're own line fees.

Why not switch to an mvno like boost? They give you unlimited high speed data for $55 a month. You can save the rest each month to get dragon dildos or something.

Well it must currently be available because I've been paying for it for years.

I just assumed I couldn't do any better because every time I went to the store to ask about upgrading my plan they'd always tell me even for just one or two gigs of data it would be $60/mo minimum and I just can't do that. Yet here I am in a thread where people are going on about getting 5-10GB of data or more for about $40 a month and I have absolutely no idea how to do it. It's very frustrating.

Phones aren't really my niche, especially not the bullshit economics surrounding cellular providers.

Because I like to have good coverage and high speeds, in my area you can get high speeds on any network in town, but if you travel at all you're SOL.

I pay $108 for the 6GB plan, because Verizon is the only reliable carrier in my part of Minnesnowta
And Pandora is a staple for 10 hour work days in a Factory.
>Work provides wifi for the supervisors and managers that work 6.5 hour days, but not the people that are the direct reason they have jobs.

Like I wouldn't give a fuck if it blocked nsfw shit, I just want my damn pandora at work.

Here's a thought, go back in time and have the fucking foresight to never give up your true unlimited plans.

700 mins
Unlimited text
Unlimited, and unthrottled, data
Mobile hotspot
$65/month

What about the few of us that weren't grandfathered in?

fukyou.jpg

Sucks to be you.

On Verizon, unlimited talk, text, 5gb data, cost $0 per month

Pic related

>mobile data caps

>mfw the us still has CDMA. GSM is objectively and subjectively better

On Three you can get unlimited texts, data and minutes for around £30 a month, if you don't mind dropping some minutes you can get that down to about £25.

dude, you'd be surprised. boost, cricket, and probably a couple other prepaid carriers offer a $5/mo discount if you sign up for autopay

they just assume after 3 months or so you're gonna stop paying... which is true for most of their customers.

No, cricket is the best.

>not realizing he's still under legacy contract

Dude up until last year I still had a Verizon plan they no longer offered with 4gb of data and 450 minutes per month. They stopped selling the plan in 2013

Change up your plan

You realize we have single states that span several of your entire countries, right?

Cdma throws farther and penetrates walls/trees better. Our terrain is mixed as fuck

use republic wireless
the 4g coverage is a lil spotty but best phone plans I've ever seen

Only downside really is that the phones are provuder-locked
