A hypothetical question

A hypothetical question....

How would one permanently take a site like Facebook or Twitter or Instagram down so they wouldn't be able to restore their service? Would it be possible to destroy all their servers and backup servers and therefore kill their entire business?

The internet would be a much better place without them

yea go ahead, it just go kill their servers and their backups and then kill the billions of people using them so nobody would just make another one.

>Would it be possible to destroy all their servers and backup servers and therefore kill their entire business?

If you managed to kill all of their machines, yes.

so just kill all untermencsh?

Literally by killing every last employee that works/worked there. Quite a task. Also you would need to torture Mr Facebook and make him give you the password to his Facebook account. In the settings menu you should find the option to delete Facebook. Note that it won't be deleted - just disabled in case you want it back.

you can start with your friends and family

>Would it be possible to destroy all their servers and backup servers and therefore kill their entire business?
Possible, but very improbable.

>The internet would be a much better place without them
The internet is what you make of it. No one is forcing you to go to Facebook/Twitter.

but we don't use twitter

>How would one permanently take a site like Facebook or Twitter or Instagram down so they wouldn't be able to restore their service?
You'd have to destroy/wipe their datacenters, plus any offsite backups, in a shorter total amount of time than it took someone to notice and either stop you, or start backing up to somewhere else.

One nuke probably wouldn't be enough, I'm sure at least some of their data is backed up offshore or suitably far away.

...

It would be easier to just buy Facebook and close it and all services it owns down.

The only way is the ICANN kill switch

ICANN can take any site offline because they own every URL. URL's can only be rented from them.

Become the president of ICANN and you will become privy to secret information.

CANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, controls the domain name system (DNS) which assigns all the web addresses of the Internet. The DNS is secured by one master key and seven people have fragments of that key for all the web addresses of the Internet.

He would have to make friends with the 7 people who have fragments of that key and steal their fragments.

I would love to see the internet get destroyed.

That sounds like the way plot of an old video game.
>need 7 key fragments
>held by 7 powerful enemies.
>you must commit acts of espionage to get them
>to destroy the great evil of this world.

cool

An easier way to take down these sites would be to take down the companies behind them. Bankrupt them somehow, or get them popped on some obscure law.

Then someone else would simply buy it out.

Damn, so brave. You go, OP!
FIGHT THE SYSTEM!!!!!!!!!

I want to see a movie with that plot!

Murder moot, bomb hiroshima, wipe the servers, commit identity fraud and transfer the domain to somethingawful

Hahaha dos those punks op! Flood their network! Haha hodor! Hodor!

you'd have to kill stupid,OP

nazis only got so far

>hodor! Hodor!
TOO
SOON

>create a new social network
>get venture capital
>get valuation of 410,757,864,530$ at IPO
>get all the normies to jump ship to your new service
>facebook, twitter, and instagram all go bankrupt
>wait a week
>fire everyone from your new company
>destroy all your servers right after you
>betray and embarass all of your normie users so publicly, thoroughly and unforgivably that they never trust the Internet ever again and leave it forever REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
GET OUT
NORMIES
REEEE

Twitter is fine, why would you want to delete it?

launch davinchi virus at fb, and make their servers tip over.

just nuke all datacenters at once.

Aaah, know your history, faggot.

The thought behind the internet was originally to work as long as possible, especially against military assaults.
It's designed as a "net", so you really have to kill ALL connetions to not make two computers talk to each other.

So no, it's can' t be stopped.
Pic related.

1. Get a couple people hired, into the accounting and server management section.
2. Discretely set it up to look like Facebook is acting as a massive bitcoin tumbler.
3. Let it run for a bit, then call the FBI and let them arrest everyone management level and above on RICO charges.
4. Server data all gets confiscated and left to rot in evidence.

They could just buy new datacenters and start anew with code from their mercurial repository.
