Diamond League Pro player

>Diamond League Pro player
>Could go Challenger if I had a proper team
>Parents want me to go to college and get a degree instead
>Tell them I want to become a pro LoL player instead
>Force me to start taking classes or they say they will kick me out of the house

Should I get a programming degree?
Does being good at LoL or videogames in general translate into programming skills?
I understand the complexity of video games, I just don't really know how the 1's and 0's work.
I just want a degree that does not require a lot of studying so I can keep practicing LoL.

>Should I get a programming degree?
no.

>Does being good at LoL or videogames in general translate into programming skills?

absolutely not.

>Diamond

>P
>R
>O

wew lad

also,

Programming definitely is not for you.

by knowing how things were programmed you could use it too your advantage

like how old poppy's charge took priority over everything in the game

Tell your parents to fuck themselves
Get a Team
Go to Challenger
Start living your fucking life
Move out of your parents house
???
Profit!

sounds like gender studies is for you friend

I almost made Diamond last season. I'm playing solo que so a good chunk of my losses are to AFK and total noob teammates.

Why?

>by knowing how things were programmed you could use it too your advantage
I already understand the games mechanics in depth, and I think I could use that knowledge to help me learn how to code.

If you get the chance, you should kill yourself and your parents, since they are obviously horrible people for having created you

I might end up doing this, but I want to give college a shot.

>gender studies
Not offered

...

What the fuck is a "Programming" degree?
Do you mean Software Engineering?
Maybe just stick to business or something.

Business requires a lot of math and I suck at math.

In all seriousness, go to a community college and get an associate degree in programming or IT. Get some certs, including the CCNA. That should keep your parents off your back and give you time to game.
If you can't complete an AS degree, then you should kill yourself.

Are you Asian? Fuck Asian league players. They're all the same person.

>I suck at math.
lmao what a loser
you will never be a good programmer if you suck at math

Chinese American. Also ha.

You should do want you want. If you don't, you'll regret it later.

If you want to make money as a pro gamer, drop LoL and go play Dota. Real Dota pros making hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars after sponsors and tournaments.

Invest whatever to whoever whenever

League is trash btw

So you're not even D1 right ?

I though so, but math is useless unless you want to be an engineer.

Thats what Iv been feeling. My parents are rich so it's not like I need to work. And even if I don't make it super big, 6-11th place still pays a lot, and I could earn even more streaming.

>Real Dota pros making hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars after sponsors and tournaments.
I don't care about the money, i'm good at LoL.
LoL pros make plenty of money to.

>Business requires a lot of math and I suck at math.

>Should I get a programming degree?

you're a fucking idiot. No, you should not "get" a "programming degree". Look in to liberal arts degrees such as gender studies. They have no meaningful math.

What will happen when you're 30 years old, LoL becomes decrepit community with no pro scene. You try to move onto another game but just can't get into that pro scene. You realize that you're a 30+ year old virgin NEET with no job experience or a degree.

I'm asking since I knew professional gamers that this happened to.

>Suck at math.
>Wants to program.

Litterally lol. Your best bet is webdev stuff(JS, Python/Ruby, heck even PHP) and even then you're kinda fucked if you can't grasp logic.

I could be if I played full time and had a good team.

Most of my teamates suck in PuGs.

Only the top 1% make good money in LoL though. Meanwhile the top 5% in Dota make more than the top 1% in LoL

If you don't care about money and all you do is want to jack off and play LoL 24/7 then get a part time job online or in your local area and stream LoL on the side

The money is in csgo right now

> LoL becomes decrepit community with no pro scene.
Sure thing buddy.

>You realize that you're a 30+ year old virgin
Speak for yourself.

>get a part time job online
I don't really need to work, my parents just keep bothering me and I want them to stop so I can focus on LoL

So move out faggot. If you don't got the money to move out then get a job you NEET.

You sound pationate enough to pursue it so you should do like other user said and go for an associates but keep playing lol

>Sure thing buddy.
you know it will happen. SO your dream is to be playing a video game when you're that old? What a laughing stock.

>Speak for yourself
I actually have a degree, a good job and a gf of 4 years now. Your parents are right, you need to stop being a fucking man child and go take care of yourself. If you can't pay the bills paying video games you need to get a real job

/thread

>you know it will happen.
Just like baseball and football will die out and be replaced with professional memeing.

>If you can't pay the bills paying video games you need to get a real job
>Implying i'm a poorfag

Dude, I know it's a touchy word here, but you are fucking spoiled and entitled. Get some fucking gratitude for your parents being willing to even pay for college, take a few easy courses, and play your shitty game on the side. If you can't do that, then we don't know what the fuck to tell you other than you're fucked and you deserve it, because there's been a plethora of good advice given in this thread. More than you deserve apparently given your attitude.

>So move out faggot. If you don't got the money to move out then get a job you NEET.
Nah i'l just keep living with my parents and find a way to make it look like i'm going to school.

I was thinking I could buy a gaming laptop and play in the library, but i'm worried the school might call them and tell them I dropped classes.

>I'm gonna be 1337 and play video gaymez for a living!1!1!1
>Parents looking out for you and want you to get a proper education
>Wah I wanna be a professional gaymer my parents suck :(((
Kys underage b&

This is obviously a bait thread and Sup Forums fell for it

>gaming laptop

>comparing baseball and football that has been around FOREVER to a F2P piece of shit game like LoL

wew lad

>If you can't pay the bills paying video games you need to get a real job
>Implying i'm a poorfag

Why do you still live with them? If you can support yourself then go and do it and live your life, manchild

He stills need mommy to buy him Taco Bell for dinner

>I was thinking I could buy a gaming laptop and play in the library, but i'm worried the school might call them and tell them I dropped classes.
>college giving a shit about what you do

Reported

lel

He brings up a legit point and you just insult him.

Nothing lasts forever. People grow up, get interests in other things. Companies make new games that take over the scene, etc. LoL won't last forever, just like nothing before it has lasted forever. See: Quake, CS, SC, the list goes on.

Trips of truth right here.

>business requires a lot of math
Business management, marketing, etc require no math. Finance requires math, economics requires a deeper understanding of math.

Get some 2 year degree for a trade so you can leave college as soon as possible and live on your own. Some people have recommended IT shit, I'd agree with them. You could become a cop if you want more job security.

By the time he's done with a degree LoL will be dead and he pissed away his time trying to git gud at a shit game that's boring af to watch

CS scene continued with GO. In fact, there's very few pros who weren't professional source or 1.6 players.

Bad example.

>thinking lol pro is a better idea college
>thinking knowing game mechanics will help you code
>want a degree that does not require a lot of studying

programming is definitely not for you.
>1st year academic probation
>summer school drop out confirmed

I highly doubt the most played game in the world will die in 2 years. Even WoW with its falling player base still has a pro scene.

Given the way the pro scenes are structured, DOTA or CS will die first because valve puts no money into them.

t. Faggot who pays too much attention to the business behind digital autistic athletics.

>Normal user asks for advice on Sup Forums
>Gets meme advice and told to fuck off

>Spoiled manchild just wants an easy degree
>Gets good honest carrier advice

Never change Sup Forums

If you cant get into challenger yourself dont even think of going pro.

Go to challenger, you can go to college at any age but you only get so many opportunities like that in a lifetime.

Fine, but only a few of the OG 1.6 pros are good enough to hang with the people that came on the scene since GO took over. Look how young the best players are. Source is my favorite of the three games but the pro scene was so lackluster it's almost not worth mentioning. How many 35 year old CS:GO pros are there? My point is success in e-sports is fleeting unless you parlay your image into branding and selling shit like fatality did.

I just get a lot of retarded teammates that hold me back. With a team I could make challenger easy. But my parents won't let me make one because they want me to "get a degree"

so LoL will be relevant for his whole adult life from age 18-40+?

doubt it and stop trying to defend eSport shitter who can't even support themselves

>so LoL will be relevant for his whole adult life from age 18-40+?
People said the same thing about American Football.

if you cant carry harder, you don't deserve to make money

>The first game of American football was played on November 6, 1869

If you're comparing LoL to an actual sport you need to kill yourself lad.

>I almost made Diamond last season.
don't tell me you're expecting to go pro and you haven't even reached diamond yet? You have exactly % chance of making it if you aren't at least diamond 1

I have plenty of money. I want to be a famous LoL champion and that won't happen with noob teammates. The game is all about teamwork.

The game is more about who carries the most at 20 minutes than Teamwork.

>I have plenty of money
how much is plenty? To last you a whole lifetime without budgeting? What kind of car do you drive?

LoL is for people who are too retarded to play DOTA. You're a retard.

I could be diamond 1 if I did not have to waste time going to school and doing homework.

people who reach challenger by themselves act nice in solo queue, put up with their teammates and LEAD.

these qualities separate GOOD players from random faggots with good reflexes.

Fun times we're living in. Entire world withdrew from proper RTS games because they were much too hard for them and now we have faggy "pro" leagues for fucking one man RTS moba meme "games".

so how come others players who went to school and did their homework are professional LoL players and you aren't?Maybe you're just not good enough kiddo

>What kind of car do you drive?
Pic related.

Because they had good teams and did not have to go to a stupid prep school that gives you a ton of homework or have tutoring on the weekends.

This.

LoL is a joke as a competitive game and the earnings as a "pro" are pure garbage unless you suck Riots LCS dick and sponser stream 16 hours a day on Twitch.

Dota is where all the Esports money is at and where LoL "pros" go to after graduating from LoL.

I wasn't asking what car you drive in Need for Speed KEK

>What kind of car do you drive?
Pic Relate

See I can do it too ;^) Also, how much money is "plenty"

excuses

...

>I wasn't asking what car you drive in Need for Speed KEK
Whatever.

>excuses
Facts. You would not understand how hard I had it. I could easily become a pro but my parents don't want me to.

>I could've done X if not for Y
kys and your short-minded excuses

>Dota is where all the Esports money is at and where LoL "pros" go to after graduating from LoL

Truth

How do they have control over you making a team? Stop blaming people for your inability to achieve shit. You're a fucking child who is all excuses and no action

Both of your shit one man pseudo RTS wannabe games are equally worthless.
>dance of the autists
Would go full fatlus and have a heart attack 10 seconds in an RTS game after you have to micromanage more than one guy.
>hurr I have over 800 APM!

>solo player
>LoL pro
lol indeed
you won't get anywhere without a team

obviously shopped

no one brags about apm in dota...

when these bad games are worth millions of dollars in prizemoney, they aren't so worthless

He probably does have it, his parents are rich. Just read the thread
>I have money lol
>... but I have to do what my parents say
If he "had money" just move out and do whatever you want. The car is "his". Owned by parents.

this has to be bait

League going to peak and no longer be something you can do as a job soon enough

I know. I want one, but my parents don't want to pay for a team house, and they are threatening to kick me out if I don't go to college.

They don't even want me playing videogames at all.

Join online tourneys and network with people in inhouse leagues. That's what my friend has been doing when not in class/studying. Although he plays dota so it might be different.

If you're so good, move into another team's team house. If you are so pro then they won't mind accepting you.

>Not even D1
>Wants to go pro
You'd fit right into the NA teams

>but my parents don't want to pay for a team house

wew what about you having PLENTY of money, user? Why don't you just pay for it?

selfish brat

Evidently your parents have a lot of money, be a good boy in their eyes and manipulate enough money out of them so you can start your own ventures. Obviously don't tell them about your degenerate (in their eyes) plan.

Challenger in League of Legends is the equivalent of 5k MMR in Dota 2.

The best Dota 2 players are 8k-7k MMR.

>move into another team's team house
My parents won't let me do that or I would try.

so you're not going to move because mommy told you not to move? are you sure you're an adult or are you still a child?

aaron, get the fuck off my board.

Im 19. Im not going to just go move in with a bunch of strangers.

>I have plenty of money. I want to be a famous LoL champion
So get a business degree and buy or finance the creation of a team. You'll might meet people in college or even scout some talent and form a team for local tournaments and build up your experience from there. Why not pick one of the schools with a LoL team?
>The game is all about teamwork
And if all you do is solo queue you can't get into challenger. Duo queue players and long lived amateurs are the people that win amateur events and finish at the top of the ladder. Those are the people that talent scouts pick for the major teams.

I wouldn't pick computer science just because you want to make games, because you'll be very frustrated by what you have to learn before you can start putting graphics on a screen. People who want to make games tend to look down on LoL, because its such a cluster fuck of a game on multiple levels, but that's also because they envy its success and are bitter about the industry.

if you're old enough to decide you want to go pro, you're old enough to move out of the house.

you want a team so badly yet you refuse to communicate with one.

You don't have money, they do. Be gracious that they are paying for college. Some people are in shit situations and have to put themselves through it. Mobas are fucking meme games that will come and go. Penny to a pound the next generation shit meme game will even take out the one guy you control and it'll be turn based or some shit.
>but the money
So there are 40 people in the whole world who can make a living off it. Are you gonna fight your way up to the top? Even if you do, in 6 years it will be a new meme game.

Suma1L was 15 when he joined a team house

He became a millionaire at 16 after winning Dota 2 international torunament.
