What are some programs you wish existed?

What are some programs you wish existed?

I feel like starting a big project, or maybe taking over an abandoned one if it's interesting enough.

TeamViewer without the botnet

An OS that doesn't suck

A browser extension that somehow automatically closed your porn tab/incognito window if it detected your door opened. I supposed that could be done a few ways, by having it listen for the sound of your door opening (which you'd have to give it a sound sample of to "train" it for your specific door), or by using a camera. The sound way would obviously be more convenient.

That is a deceptive filename

A Total War game that isn't an unfinished piece of shit.

Maybe hook it up to the an alarm system, if the sensora at the door are interrupted it automatically classes your porno

drivers for amd for linux

Make a UI for Linux based on C#, now that it has been open sourced.

Microsoft makes their much of their Windows UI on C# as well.

a linux port of wpf

Robot Waifu Simulator.

An alternative to firefox that is functional, isn't a copy of botnet, had extensions and good extending capabilities

A new os with a new kernel and new everything else and that doesn't use any of the shitty idea from micropenis/genuu/shitux, only the verified best ideas. Also, rip plan 9

Image recognition program that detects anime images or Kpop images

then does a geo-ip lookup of the poster and nukes that location from the face of the earth.

I'm just thats where you were heading with that.

A program to hide the menu bar in elementary os

an Xfire like client to connect people who play
inb4 steam is toitally shit, and for fps games doesn't even have server list

The benefit of team viewer is it works through NAT, which requires either a centralised server or one side to not be behind a stateful firewall or have ports forwarded.

There are already products that take the non centralised approach, but it comes with the caveats above.

We just use Cisco Meraki at work now - you install a client on the end user's machine which allows you to hop onto it whenever it is online, even if it isn't logged on. As it runs as a service UAC is never an issue. The only downside is it is a pretty hardcore botnet, through the Meraki management page you can see a list of all your clients, with their IP addresses and uptimes, all put on a map so you can see where they are. You can also screenshot their machines at any time to see what they are up to without them even realising .

We have probably 80+ machines on there now, but most users have probably forgotten that they even have the service running.

I wish there were decent UI prototyping and design applications for Windows and/or Linux. All the fucking good ones are Mac only like Sketch 3, Origami, and Adobe Experience Design CC.

atleast its not labtec bro

I made a thread about this a while ago

It does imply some artistic talent, but conceptually it's mostly programming.

Basically, its live wallpapers, but rather than looping videos you just have an overlay of animated effects over an image. The images may have to be made "effectable" so for example erasing the waves on ocean-view wallpapers. Some can stay as is like adding moving fog to misty forests.

Animation effects can change color/size/properties, etc over time, and should stop upon covering the desktop with windows (to save on resources). It can give a feeling of "zen" while in downtime from productivity.

Would be pretty hard to determine which objects to avoid collision with in your wallpaper, no?

contribute to the wine alternative for homosex so you can run macintosh software on gnu plus linux

>inb4 steam is toitally shit, and for fps games doesn't even have server list
it does developers just have to integrate it but for some reason don't. There are a couple non-valve games that use the server list (tripwire games for instance).

a not shit skype so that my normie friends and coworkers can move to a better nonbotnet adware filled application.

Webrtc?

>a not shit skype
The difficult part isn't making a decent messenger, its the advertising campaign, why should normies leave skype? (despite your personal botnet fueled opinion)

I'm not too familiar with graphic design, but in my head I imagine this:

3 core layers per wallpaper image.
>layer 1 is the base image, modified perhaps to account for animations (deleting flying birds, waves, cars for city-scapes even)
>layer 2 is the low opacity effects, with positional regions. Here, there is a region for where the waves flow, birds fly, etc. Regions don't really move and would provide rules for collisions.
>layer 3 can be high opacity things if going heavy with artistic talent. Can include fully rendered 2D trees, for example, that go over the other layers and move around from wind effects and whatnot. Moving cars maybe for cityscapes. This may be the most resource/talent intensive layer, but more optional.

The most basic thing would just be to add like fog effects to existing forests (so no modification) or little waves / sunshine reflections to simple images like pic related.

Because it has the word "sexy"

You can always play Rome, or Medieval.

A program that locks me out of the internet when I've drank too much. Also locks my phone and my door and tells me to get some sleep.

I see what you're getting at, i imagine that would turn out to be resource intensive having to render 3 layers and determine pathing, collision and whatever other neat features you want to add. I've always had the idea of the interactive wallpaper since a kid but imo its never been justifiable.

You might enjoy making vector animations or pictures with Adobe Animate (ex. Flash).

A tool that you just call like "webshare file.iso" and it prints a password protected URL that you can give someone to download straight from your machine. It should automatically exit when the file is successfully downloaded by a recipient.

So a wife?

Balsamiq

text-mode spreadsheet for linux console

do it faggot

please?

bro u can use a netcat one-liner to push out a single file on any port u want

Dem hips tho

is there even a point to this that doesn't involve desktop threads?

>place I work at puts some crappy teamviewer style app on our machines for support
>mac version has the "requires high perf gpu" flag set all the time so it cuts your battery life in half for no reason

at least I can kill the process

but how will pajeet service your new free windows10 upgrade

You know she's got a fake ass, don't you?!

how does she Object Oriented Program then? Checkmate atheist.

i need better porn hoarding and sorting software

Literally impossible

I need a wife.

It's already hoarded on empornium and pornolab, I keep my pc pure.

God no, dont suggest people try and learn flash in 2016. It sucks and most of the stuff you would want to do in it can be had easier in after effects.

You can also stop watching porn...

There's software like that being developed on empornium (check the forum).

he's going to end up with an "emergency" in an austrian aquatic centre if he does that

I thought about something similar before, but instead of waves crashing it'd change the time of day as the day goes along.

Ie if you come home at night and turn on your pc your wallpaper is this beach at night, and then in the morning it's the same beach at morning, and so forth

Play europa barbarorum mod for Rome TW

Most of all, I guess I really want a "file transfer manager" of sorts for Windows that allows me to queue transfers between disks both on my network and on a single computer.

After that, it would be great to have something like the Firefox add-on "Menu Editor" that could change the layout and content of the context menu when you right-click stuff in Windows.
Why does "rename" have to be so close to "delete"?
It's probably doable through messing with the registry files, but a simpler approach sounds easy enough, I think.

My last idea is more like a dream, though:
Get actors and such to do the speaking on GPS navigation units in cars and the like.

I guess it doesn't matter to a lot of people, but I think it would be awesome to have Morgan Freeman or Kiera Knightley tell me to turn right in 400 meters.

Well, shit.

Morgan Freeman is already available, sort of:

THIS AND THIS

TEAMVIEWER opensource

And i mean you code not only the desktop application that makes the communication
you can just fork some VNC for that so thats like the least of the trouble I think
but the part about the centralised server that allows to punch through NAT

so that people can setup your server on some cheap VPS for $5 a month
and distribute the application with that server set as its communication point
and have all the benefits of teamviewer, logmein, VNC,.. for the price of a VPS, or some old PC c2d with public IP

I am amazed there is nothing like this yet

but Balsamiq is crap.

Move out of your parents house and be with someone that doesn't mind you masturbating. Pathetic.

>filename
That's neither sexy, nor topless.
Kys faggot
