DL from Animebytes (nyaa and bakabt are also ok if you are too lazy for private trackers)

use MPV or MPC with KCP for playback

If you want to play it on your TV:
Set up Plex (Kodi if you want more features), force subtitles

Seeing as a lot of anime releases are 720p, wouldn't 1440p be a little crisper as it's an exact multiple of 720?

4K is too
2160/720 = 3

Huh, I never realized that, thanks user.

Ubuntu mate (comfiest distro ever made) with mpv and an access to a sekrit club forum for subtitles in your language.

>Seeing as a lot of anime releases are 720p
from 2000 to 2009ish maybe, plenty of series were done a bit higher than that like 955p and etc. The past few years plenty tv anime are made higher than 720p. Few were made at 1080p native (Nyaruko was one the best examples) but some slowly are now. Older cel anime gain a lot from 1080p if they were made on 35mm film.

It's not optimal unless it has an onahole attached
