Hey shills tell me why should I spend fortune on GTX 1080 or 1070 when I can have RX480 8GB for 250$

isn't it more than enough for 1080p gayming?
also hbm vs gddrx5?

hbm = we 4k now
1080p = rx poo in loo

You shouldn't. An RX 480 is more than enough for 1080p gaymen.

RX 480 8GB version's supposed to cost $229, and for 1080p gaming it's more than enough.

I have a GTX 970 and it runs all my games on ultra at 1080p. From what I've read really quickly, the RX 480 is more powerful (in terms of raw compute) than the 970.

If it's that cheap, I say go for it. Although, I'm not sure what the thermals are like for the RX 480. I don't think my 970 has ever gone over 70C. (I have the ASUS Strix)

Considering RX 480's low TDP, it should do well when thermals are concerned

I wish I knew the price in some parts of europe. 230€ is more than affordable for me, but if somehow these fucking monsters decide for it to be 300 there's gonna be some vandalizing

I have a 280x. I can get rid of it now while I still can and grab that as a small upgrade.

Or I can just not do it and stay home

AYYMD HOUSEFIRES 150W TDP, MUCH LESS PERFORMANCE THAN GTX 1070 150W TDP

Fuck off poorfag AMDrone shills

The 1080 for the pricepoint is the best card you could possibly get, I mean why would you purposely get anothing other than that fucking card, It's literally the most powerful GPU ever made

>inb4 temps
>inb4 powerdraw
>inb4 muh price

It does not fucking matter

You really don't need to be playing in any resolution higher than 1440p. Don't fall for the 4K meme

Totally, except the crashes, and the thermal throttling, and the lack of dx12 support....I am a nvidia guy through and through, and you sound retarded and salty as fuck. Don't make excuses for the piss poor cards the released faggot.

Is the 1080 the best card for 1440p? I'm looking to buy a new monitor.

This is true though. 4k are nice for reading. For gaming it's just a waste. Unless you're looking for VR and it'd be more convenient to go further.

I'm personally getting a 1070 cause i upgraded to a 1440p/144hz screen and a gtx970 isn't cutting it and the 480 isn't more powerful than a 970.

If vega is good i'll swap back to amd, before the 970 i had 2x 7950s but the crossfire support was so fucking hit and miss and i don't want a repeat of that with 480s crossfire.

RX 480 is not out yet. We know nothing about its real world performance.

>600$
>For a 1080p card
lol

Do I even need the 8 GB version for 1080p?

>tfw still running a 950
werks fine for me

for now, no
in the future, yes

You shouldn't be playing games on a PC.

Buy an xbox or preferably a PS4 for gaming.

Games will be optimized for that platform and you will not have to worry about hackers in FPS games. Most importantly, you don't have to spend thousands on a PC to get the same performance as a console.

There are a handful of gaymes that use more than 4GB at 1080p. Rise of the Tomb Raider is one of them.

What "thousands"? I spent 600 bucks for my whole PC. I can play both GTA V and FO4 and better framerates, graphics settings and resolutions. I have backwards compatibility with a bajillion titles, I have all sorts of emulation, no online fees unless it's some MMO, and except for denuvo a pretty good way of trying games before going out and spending fucking 60 bucks for something to turn out to be a piece of shit.

Also optimized my ass. That used to be the case 2 generations ago. Framedrops are frequent on the beefy titles on consoles just as they are on PC.

you shouldn't

At the 1080p the 4GB model is fine. Honestly even the RX 480 will be overkill for 1080p. It's Fury non-X equivalent performance.

Whatever card AMD releases that's on par with a 970/290 I'm getting.

>playing FPSs with a controller

Normally I'd call you a faggot, but nvidia really dropped the ball on their new cards.
