Neuter the gnome to prevent it from reproducing. It's the humane thing.

Gnome is a great DE, what is there to fix?

...

Cut off it's balls. Just like with a bull. It's not hard, user.

I'm on Arch so mines a little newer.

Gnome is actually the nicest (and most "professional") looking DE to me. It's just the header bars are too big and the black title bar the displays the time and shit looks a little awkward.

I think the Unity fork is a nice enough compromise for me. I just wish Unity wasn't developed to only work good on Ubuntu and no other Linux distros like Arch.

no

>chrome
>no ublock
>taskbar
>vanilla Sup Forums

I can't use gnome without the taskbar, All that hotcorner switching gives me a headache.

between gnome tweak and shell extensions you can make gnome pretty much look and act however you want bruh

Why did you have to bring up arch?

Because he is 3l33t.

>1026x768
impressive

a few extensions, maybe a few more point releases.

How do you know figure out an user has arch installed?

don't worry, he'll tell you.

gnome was never good
and since 4.0 they've fucked up KDE, too
so
t. Windows 10 master race

>t. Windows 10 master race
why not save us some time, and lead with that?

:^)

It can't, GNOME is garbage

Not him but to be honest I think Windows 10 really nailed the DE this time around. Enough keyboard shortcuts to work with, tiling + floating, present enough to display useful information but stays the hell out of your way. I think it looks nice too, but that's just an opinion.

>giant buttons, great for touch
>apps menu takes entire screen and lays out applications in a grid, great for touch
>windows key spreads all open windows out to be easily tapped, better touch interface than Windows 8's start screen

>file picker is an old-style list, absolute dogshit for touch
Fucking why?

>using the smiley with a carat nose

Dunno son, I'm too busy using MATE, the only correct choice.

By not using GNOME, use Awesome WM.

>GNOME is just Mutter

Kill yourself.

>forget GNOME 3 ever existed
>update GNOME 2
Done

hey arch is perfect, fuck you guys

Oh look, a new tripfag that has yet to figure out how to reply properly. Hi summer

Immediately after webm
>system settings has shut down unexpectedly

Write a complete GTK documentation instead of the garbage API generated thing and that incomplete widget overview, so other devs can write the missing functions and software.

>I can't use gnome without the taskbar,

get used to ctr-tab etc. shortcuts. That' s much productive.

>they removed another option
>buy hey, you can scroll in reverse now
Fucking GNOME.

Throw it all away and resume where MATE left off.

Currently trying out gnome, since the last update totally killed KDE on my machine, but even broken KDE makes more sense than gnome. Wtf kind of drugs where they on?
The whole de feels downright hostile!
>you want to change something or use something else like the default settings?
>how dare you!
>we are going to make you feels really unwelcome!
Also, who the fuck decided to ship a de without a file manager?

rewrite Gnome 3 with Qt

Why are arch users so cancerous.

Last time I tried gnome I went into the options to try to find how to disable two finger scrolling. I couldn't find it so I went back to XFCE. If I wanted to edit config files for basic functionality I would use a tilling wm

By running well.

It's laggy on a system with a 7970 and a haswell processor. No business being like that.

>wacom tablet that worked with KDE4.X is found as joystick and doesnt work
>touchpad doesnt work because it needs synaptics
>that scrolling setting that doesnt work
yeah gnome just removed features that dont work, kde likes to place them there and pretents its here.

MATE.

or just go to i3wm directly and cut the bullshit.

>yeah gnome just removed features that dont work
So nothing works
open sores amirite

well on gnome everygthing except scrolling settings i think works in term of input devices, it just doesnt have gui configuration. On kde it doesnt work or works but has configuration which is not working. Kde is a little like windows here ,doing stupid shit and breaking to look modern.

By installing KDE

>Red Hat is somehow bad
>Vlc is somehow good

>VLC
>Bad

>Redprajeets
>Good

hahahaha

>Also, who the fuck decided to ship a de without a file manager?

Dufuq you talkin bout?

>Dufuq you talkin bout?
A standard gnome installation does not ship with a filemanager (unless you count the terminal as one).
Sure, there is this "files" thing, but it is utterly useless.
>no previews
>no options
>no fucking "open with"
>no "open terminal here"
>no fucking nothing
essentially, when I want to do anything besides clicking on stuff and not caring what happens, like a pleb, I have to use the terminal, or install a file manager.

Also:
>oh, some gnome notification about updates for my system!
>hm, maybe gnome does at least have a good graphical package manager, so lets check it out
>click on the notification
>pic related
>It does not tell me anything, that I would want to know

>OK
>desire to know more intensifies.jpg
>click on that thing to get some more info
>pic related
WHERE IS MY FUCKING OS UPDATE I WAS PROMISED???????

B-but you never need to restart on this linux system! That's only for Windows losers!

Create of scratch.

Don't they still use the depricated gtk2 packages?

Oh, yeah, that too. Of course you do not have to reboot, but with gnome, you have.

And why the hell does my launcher also search the "appstore"?

Wanting to launch something the first time, and I was "WTF, when did I installl all this shit?".

And pic related:
Where does one window end, and where does the other start?

Click on that row you stupid cunt.

1. get rid of stable releases
2. tiling by default
3. keyboard navigation by default
4. dark as my soul theme and wallpaper
5. unreadable monospace font everywhere

Read my next post you stupid cunt.

I’d just like to interject for a moment. What you’re refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called “Linux”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called “Linux” distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

This one simple trick!

sudo apt-get install i3 && logoff

get the gnome taskbar extension

only had this one the very fist KDE4 which was a trainwreck.

I used to think gnome was shit until I found that you can add extensions straight into gnome!

Literally best ubuntu flavor

I'm terribly sorry for interjecting another moment, but what I just told you is GNU/Linux is, in fact, just Linux, or as I've just now taken to calling it, Just.Linux. Linux apparently does happen to be a whole operating system unto itself and comprises a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Most computer users who run the entire Linux system every day already realize it. Through a peculiar turn of events, I was misled into calling the system "GNU/Linux", and until now, I was unaware that it is basically the Linux system, developed by the Linux project.

There really isn't a GNU/Linux, and I really wasn't using it; it is an extraneous misrepresentation of the system that's being used. Linux is the operating system: the entire system made useful by its included corelibs, shell utilities, and other vital system components. The kernel is already an integral part of the Linux operating system, never confined useless by itself; it functions coherently within the context of the complete Linux operating system. Linux is never used in combination with GNU accessories: the whole system is basically Linux without any GNU added, or Just.Linux. All the so-called "GNU/Linux" distributions are really distributions of Linux.

>no vertical taskbar
Into the trash

sudo apt-get purge gnome

>Anything GNU
>Fixable
Hows that HURD comming along?

It's default, officially suported extension in recent GS spin - called Window list.
Yo welkom.

Gnome? Keemstar?

>"files" thing
Nautilus?

I think we can all agree that linux is becoming shittier by the day now.

the only sane choice left is BSD.

everything was going so well

I miss this.

>>No vertical taskbar
Okay

By replacing it with Cinnamon

This

>QT is good.

Uh...

What

I said
>QT is good.

Uh...

KDE has the best suite of applications.
Put a wm in your linux if you don't like the kde desktop. Better idea than gnome because waaa kde is too heavy (Gnome sucks imo btw senpai) and putting up with a second rate bunch of apps.

>mine's a little newer
But user, why is yours new-
>I'm on Arch
Wow! Context clues!
