Hey guys i need help. I cant fucking figure this out.
>friend brings over old tower says i can have it >take out ram from my pc and troubleshoot it >everything seems fine if abut outdated >put ram back in main pc >1 long beep and 2 short ones >look it up apparently motherboard cant detect ram >wtf? >try it again with friends ram >still beeping >try my friends and my ram on friends tower >it works perfectly
What the fuck happened? It cant be the ram as they both work on my friends pc. Is it my motherboard? How could the ram ports possibly be damaged? I literally did nothing wrong
sounds like the ram isn't seated correctly & is improperly installed
make sure to build up some nice static electricity by rubbing the ram sticks in quick circles on the carpet
Nathan Richardson
Are you matching the pair properly? (I don't even know if that's relevant anymore)
Josiah Hernandez
>Sup Forums is not your personal tech support
William Williams
Yea i tried putting in just one stick at a time and still no results. Its really irritating me i was just playing games on it earlier this morning.
And it cant be the ram, they work on other PCs
Aaron Harris
Did you try swapping slots?
Landon Moore
You have to make sure the RAM is compatible you retard
Tyler Moore
Make sure the ram is in the slot right. Line the slot up and push, you should feel it click. If it's old it will take a fair bit of pressure to get it in place.
Adrian Flores
Did you try installing gentoo?
Elijah Thompson
Bros i know
The problem is that the motherboard wont detect the ram at all. Not even other ram.
Charles Cook
What's the processor? Are you sure the RAM is the right type for the CPU?
Jackson Perez
Yes its the ram ive been using since ive made this pc. Theyre compatible.
Could ram swapping somehow change the rams compatsbilty? It sounds absurd but its the only thing i can think of right now that would make sense
Nicholas Diaz
Lol yeah do this
Asher Campbell
I had an old laptop with a similar issue and this worked
Dead motherboard or dead memory controller on CPU (yes it can happen phenom ii x4 were plagued with that issue). Try clearing the CMOS
Cameron Diaz
Try what said and see where that gets you.
Gabriel Brown
I just did that right now. Still beeping.
Jack Clark
Damn... Thats the cpu im using...
Matthew Bailey
What could have done this? I was playing games this morning
Christian Russell
Shit. How many RAM slots do you have? That slot may have just died somewhere in between the swap and reinstall.
Mason Smith
I tried them all.
All 4.

I dont know how to feel. I feel a sudden loss. An emptiness. A vacuous nothingness that stemmed from the abrupt death of my motherboard. An acquaintance gone. An alliance gone. Nothing is left but the fragments of a once prosperous empire. Now nothing but a weathered rock upon the searing sands of the desert. No more light seeping through the skies. Just a gunmetal grey heaviness of torrential pain and suffering for eternity.
Fuck you Tom for bringing your computer.

Not shutting off your power supply before unplugging your RAM
Dominic Sanders
My pc is so broken I have to pull out my ram and put it back in wverytime I want to turn it on.
Thomas Scott
It's a security feature!
Kevin Hughes
I'm always surprised when people say shit like "It was working just a few hours ago!" Yes, that's how causality works. First it works, then it breaks.
Alexander Foster
Damn is this true?
I do this all the time
Jason Carter
Point is i didnt really do anything to break the CPU.
Bentley Johnson
if you didn't do anything to break it it wouldn't be broken
