Why bother, it's not even funny anymore.

if you wipe the drive and do a clear OS install it will go back to its correct speeds. it is a firmware thing on the 840 sadly. i am 20TB in on my 850 EVO and no slow downs at all

Yes, the 840s are trash, we all know it.
What's more important is, do the 850s last?

Wew, what program is that?
I want to benchmark my ADATA 480GB running at SATA II speeds

>if you wipe the drive and do a clear OS install it will go back to its correct speeds
only for about a month or two. then you have to reinstall again even after Samsung's firmware "fix" that swaps data around on the NAND to prevent the problem but doesn't actually do anything.

I will probably just replace the damn thing. It's a piece of shit and another 250gb 850 is like 60 dollars.

I'm pretty happy with my 840. Best spent $120 toward pc hardware in the last 8 years for me.

>2718 sequential

>le rapid mode with over provisioning

RAPID mode for the benchmark win! I only notice a benefit from rapid mode on restarts and it's very minimal. Looks good on paper anyway lol.

Here's another one.

what program is that?

840Pro 128Go here
Still good as new with the same windows 7 install after 3.5 yrs and 11To writed

Samsung Magician

>THEY FELL FOR THE NAND SSD MEME

I don't trust rapid mode. Anyone knows what it does?

samsung magician

makes a RAMdisk for your SSD

Make things move more RAPIDly

uses ram as cache, transparently

I think it uses small amount of your system ram like a ramdisk. I could be wrong though.

what non-nand ssd would you currently recommend?

>120GB 840 EVO
well, nobody can help you when you buy the shittiest version.
every review said the 120GB was slow as fuck.

>every review said the 120GB was slow as fuck.
happened to all EVO versions. it was a NAND issue, and the 250gb and 500gb ones had the same NAND.

oh come on
Second one is running gnu/linux, so I can't even test it.

I bought the 950 Pro 256Gb yesterday. It is out for delivery today.

I excite.

Bro what happened to your write iops

being a dumbfag and jewing out with EVO instead of buying a PRO

you did that to yourself senpai

How does it read faster then? The help button does not explain anything, just sounds like more marketing bullshit.

But I am kind of

buyers remorse: the thread

I suspect trim is somehow disabled on my win7.
After running performance optimization that sends trim command, in magician I got this benchmark, seems to be ok.

my 840 evo went from 9.000 to like 250, I wiped it with partmagic and it jumped to 6.000

Holy shit.

What are your system specs.

Do a speccy mang.

I still use a Samsung 830. How fucked am I?

>and the 250gb and 500gb ones had the same NAND.
but only half the number of chips as the 250/500.

As fucked as a high school cheer leader at a college frat party

>1GHz CPU
is this a trollan thread?

shit is still gonna slow down massively unless you're wiping it on a regular basis. might not be as bad as on the 120gb but it's still gonna shit itself.

It's the minimum requirement, retard.

Not that my PC is good, but it's not THAT bad.

Ficki Ficki?

remember user, if it wasn't for guys like you jumping to buy the next best thing technology wouldn't progress. you might smarter than i, but not more inttttelllengant!!!!!!! lol pleb

Oh boy.

>amd
>amd
>amd

You'll be aight son. Say 3 hail marys and repent.

rate

it's something like mix of prefetch, delayed write and readahead. Commonly used files are stored in a ramdisk, and ramdisk also is used as write buffer, so it appears to user that wrtie speed is faster. It reports to OS that writing has finished, while it still copies data from that ramdisk to disk.

>giving money to intel
lolno

>Being a Samshit c u c k

9/10 I have the same drive.

is best ja?

can you run this program in a vm? I want to update my firmware but I don't have windows on my ssd.

you can download a bootable update iso

There's no iso for the 850 evo.

>tfw fell for the 830 120gb meme
>tfw fell for the 850 evo 500gb meme

Actually feels bretty fucking good.

Nice memory benchmarks there. Now post actual SSD results you mong.

>buying samsung anything

Well you deserve it, its kinda like buying applel

seconding this.

that sounds like a recipe for disaster if something crashes and it hasn't written when it thinks it has

Samsung unfortunately make very good SSDs.

Most OSs use RAM as a cache this way m8

The data is still in RAM when the benchmark reads it back.

they warn you about it
but on a laptop it's not a problem really

Sure thing, randomly deletes shit, requires all your information in order to update firmware, very good - good goyim

why do you need to lie ? we know its not true what you are saying

Samsung Magician

>lie

Ok there pajeet, 10 point has been deposited into your poo account

serious question. are there actually several people who keep posting this "pajeet" meme or is it just you shitposting all day long?

Tfw shit mobo only has pcie 3.0 x2 m.2
Ordered an adapter, hopefully it won't fuck up my sli performance, since it's running in x8 x8 and adding the adapter will put it to x8 x4 x4

You didn't listen and didn't get a Crucial mx100
Your own fault faggot

Tfw 950 Pro and love it

You won't hit SATA3 limits with this anyways

>Pro

I know, in the m.2 slot I'm getting around 850 read
Unless you meant something else
>being poor

What's wrong poorfag
Drive is very fast

>What's wrong poorfag
do you find that there is a huge difference between writing a file in 1s vs. 2s?

Yeah 100 percent difference.
However a 950 Pro is actually way more than twice as fast as poorfag ssds

>You won't hit SATA3 limits with this anyways
sata 3 = 6 Gbit/s
my ssd = 20 Gbit/s

this. I copied a 30 GB virtual machine in 15 seconds last week. feels good

Outside of benchmarks?

see

>getting cucked by samsung
>not knowing exactly what your going to get...

also

>not picking shit up on open box discount so buyers remorse can be almost non existent

>100% difference
you seem to have missed my point.

regardless, impatience is perfectly fine, and if you need that 30gb VM copied in 15s instead of 80s to satisfy you then it is money well spent.

for most, i don't think waiting 1.33 minutes for a file to copy is an issue. it's only a problem when you have to wait 10, 20, 30+ minutes.

>for most
We're not most, we're the elite.
It disgusts me just how pervasive the poorfag way of life is on Sup Forums lately

>you
lol two different poster

>regardless, impatience is perfectly fine, and if you need that 30gb VM copied in 15s instead of 80s to satisfy you then it is money well spent.
also add up the other VM's i have copied and all the other programs and games that have loaded a lot faster. add that all up and you get a lot of time savings

>being too retarded to properly crop a picture

Average ssd user. He did fall for a meme so what can you expect?

>le fuck the poor
You must be over 18 years of age to browse this website.

>also add up the other VM's i have copied and all the other programs and games that have loaded a lot faster.
Yes, maybe you could have even saved a whole day worth of time over an entire year!

I just don't understand the point of the Pro or M.2 SSDs if you're not writing hundreds of gigs per day.

I bought both a few months after release and neither have needed a firmware update.
It also has never deleted anything. The 830 has over 14k hours on time.

Suck it dipshit.

I myself got the 840 Pro because it was said to be more reliable/last longer.

>I just don't understand
Then don't judge those that do, peon.
Take your awful selfish attitude and gtfo.

Here is your final reply, and your name will be added to the filter.

Goodbye.

Several, its as if you pajeets are trying to censor the poolocaust

What?

wew 14k hours!

google it fgt

...

how can it still claim to have those speeds when its not even using the SSD anymore

Rapid mode is such a meme

normalfags see big numbers think big speeds

if i had the koksal baba picture i would post it but i don't.

>it writes/reads faster
>therefore it doesnt

are you stupid?

>Projecting this hard
Were you just beaten by your drunk father?

do you have any idea how it functions or are you just shitposting?

what do i care im not using it
