Whats the point of using the unity botnet when you can make gnome look exactly like it?

Whats the point of using the unity botnet when you can make gnome look exactly like it?

What's the point of using a shit """"OS"""" when you can make Windows look exactly like it?

Better performance

Unity runs better under the same hardware.

Gnome doesn't have Appmenus in titlebar.
Gnome's panel bar is basically useless.

Enjoy less vertical space

What's the point of using gnome when better DEs are available, of which Unity is just one?
What is the point of painting Unity as a botnet when it merely unmasks you as a slack-jawed, know-nothing mongoloid?

This, it has a drop down menu instead. What's the point of that? If you're going to emulate OSX at least do it properly.

My only problems with Unity is that it's still a bit of a pain to find decent themes and the file manager just needs more features

The real question is: what's the point of using anything GTK-based in 2016? Now that there are no licensing issues with a far superior framework Qt is, GTK is finally dying. Even Torvalds, a known C++ hater, switched his Subsurface project to Qt because he couldn't suffer that steaming pile of shit GTK is.

Can GNOME into a global menu bar?

Gnome is fucking SHIT

Constantly crashes when making mpv fullscreen, doing graphics programming and making a window fullscreen at the screen resolution makes it crash randomly as well.

Fuck gnome.

what distro so i can never touch it ever?

Why would you want to do either of those things? GNOME and Unity are both absolute shit.

works on my machine

Kubuntu

Debian.

kys

>using the gnome botnet

not even close desu

What icons op?

No. Thats not true user-It's impossible!
but really i never had debian break with mpv fulscreen on gnome. On i3, yes but not on gnome.

Its a mix and match of different themes, but most of them come from Paper.

Most people that use unity do it because they're new to linux and it's the predetermined DE in Ubuntu, they don't know about other DEs and they probably don't know about the Amazon thing.

i use it because it plays nice with nvidias horible vsync on blob drivers. I tried using compiz with other DEs and couldnt reproduce how well it works with unity.

>KDE5
>ever

Isn't the Amazon thing disabled in latest LTS tho?

Thanks!

I have never used unity before. I guess Ill make a vm, and give it a swirl.

it is , but since this is Sup Forums the thing that the "feature" is implemented and disabled by default is still wrong.

Its just classic freedom infringing creep. Take 2 steps forward, everyone freaks out, then take one step back. For example - put in tracking features with auto-enable, then remove the auto-enable but leave in the tracking features - now people come to accept tracking features as a reasonable middle ground.

Why would any sane person want a redundant dock on the left side taking up precious screen real estate for no reason?
