What's Sup Forums's thoughts on Xubuntu?

My go-to for low-end/older devices. Ubuntu Gnome for high-end/newer.

It's what I usually recommend for people to get into linux

why not ubuntu?

Unity's search bar/program manager sucks and so does the mouse acceleration. Otherwise it looks nice.

Works nice and looks nice.

How's the memory usage?

Around 550mb of my 8gb.

One of the finest *buntu derivative distribution

great distro to get into linux that isn't shit like mint or bloated as regular ubuntu.
I use it in my laptop and even though I want to try other I just keep posponing reinstalling because it's fucking comfy.

Ubuntu MATE

Why not Ubuntu mate? It's more like windows imo so it's easier to adjust to.

My goto distro tbqhfamalam

Doesn't work well with dual monitors like Ubuntu does.

I'd still be using it if I hadn't given Kubuntu another shot and found it more appealing.

As far as a light setup, though, it's a damn good choice.

It's just Ubuntu with the XFCE desktop.

Their application collection is the worst desu.

Screen Tearing: The Distro

Change the wm

Is the wm different from the entire dm? If so what would you recommend?

>Xubuntu
Not using glorious arch
2016+0

The wm is just what manages the windows, the desktop environment stays the same

Also you don't need to replace your wm, you can just use compton together with xfwm4

It was my first distro. Bretty gud for first time linux users. Why would you care about Sup Forums's opinion?

I use both currently

Running it right now on an upgraded R60 with a t7400 c2d and 4 gb of ram. breddy gud so far.....

This picture is my xubuntu desktop like 4 months ago. Still use that theme and icon pack.

Xubuntu got me hooked on Xfce. No DE quite like it.

>tfw i found that icon theme but it utterly fucks everything up in my panel and I'm too lazty to fuck with it.

Because Ubuntu is too far from linux now!

only question is on , not working

my only question is on a not working dropbox icon

I didn't like it, I had screen tearing when watching videos or even just scrolling on webpages. Switched to Ubuntu instead and I'm happy.

Best ready to go distro.

Looks nice. What theme/icons are you using?

Xfce+Ubuntu

>Unity... looks nice.

Topkek

Really fast but compton is a requirement.

Really simplistic, in fact far too simplistic for my taste.

I would definitely use it on a laptop but on a desktop just nah. Would rather use something like Unity or Gnome.

paper gtk and icon theme

is there any important difference between Xubuntu and Mint xfce?

One of them is shit, the other one is shittier.

I moved from the *buntu systems to Debian. I now realize that *buntu is debians retarded cousin

Yes. Mint is objectively inferior

>2118MB to boot desktop with one user
>in the trash it goes.
