alright OP, smell ya later! ;P

Ok you've convinced me, going back to le reddit now xP

So basically if your not a autistic virgin faggot leave. See ya!

this desu senpai

Agreed except for Gentoo. Nobody needs Gentoo, it's a meme and has no tangible benefits over Ubuntu or any other distribution. In fact, all the distributions are practically identical unless you're a neckbeard who doesn't use your computer for real work anyway.

Also there's nothing wrong with watching YouTube you fucking neckbeard

Being able to install Gentoo isn't the same as using it.

100% agree

Oh OP you're silly~

After using Linux and realizing what I've been missing, I start to wonder if the rest of what you say is true.

Will check on thinkpads.

>have no conceivable reason to use a linux distro
>have no reason to compute 'on the go'
>have built many computers
>would never use applel product
>no idea what telegram is, no need to care
>free as in freedom means worthless as in worthless
>i gladly use adblocker because my time is not to be used to be sold products to
>i enjoy some youtube content
>have no practical use for a degree, doing quite well without one
>no logical reason to install gentoo
>no idea why anyone would waste their time with a terminal in 2016
>no idea what a vps or dedi is, no reason to care
>first OS was '95

Sup Forums will likely be buttra/g/ed, meanwhile i will remain comfy

make me, faggot

Why are you making up arbitrary rules to post on here? Are you seriously that offended by someone with preferences different to your own?
>>Watch any "youtubers" or "Lets players"
How does this stop anyone from being Sup Forums? There's some high quality YouTube content out there.

>Don't use Linux as your main OS
Guilty.

Call me when it has a parametric EQ and i will.

>use an iphone
I like to use Bias Amp sims when I travel for work
>Watch any youtubers
A lot of my favorite guitarists post on youtube only

Deal with it senpai.

*it gets

>high quality YouTube

I guarantee you won't find it with boogie or pewdiepie

No shit sherlock.

I'm certain that's what he meant by "youtubers". A YouTube celebrity, like h3h3 or boogie.

Nope

When I finish university things will change.

>Don't use Linux as your main OS
OS X and OpenBSD are also acceptable choices.
>Don't use a thinkpad as your main portable machine
Latitudes are good too.
>Don't use a free as in freedom browser
I'm not a freetard, I use whatever is best instead of crippling my computing by restricting my choices to open source options.

>I use Windows, Linux and OSX in no particular order
>Own an old macbook and a thinkpad
>built all my desktops and serviced my laptops
>I don't like iphones but it's a great phone for tech illeterates and people who just want a phone
>Nobody is that retarded
>You are a fucking sperg, all browsers have pros and cons, free as in freedom sucks balls

>Do you need a guide?
>do you think you are special because you can type ls or run screenfetch on a terminal?
>Why would I rent shit I can run at work?
>C-64 didn't have an OS.

>Don't use Linux as your main OS
I used Linux when Linus first posted code to Usenet, and Slackware 1.0 on release and dozens if not hundreds more distros over the years and one fact remains: Linux fucking sucks.

>Don't use a thinkpad as your main portable machine
ThinkPads are nice, Latitudes are better. Fuck whitelists, fuck telling me what LCD panel I can install. Fuck Lenovo for ruining ThinkPads forever.

>Haven't built a computer
I've built over 5,000 with my bare hands, start to finish, since the 1970s, so fuck you, son, I win.

>Use an iphone
Get fucking real.

>Think Telegram is secure
Nothing is secure, period.

>Don't use a free as in freedom browser
"Free as in freedom" means something different to me than you, son, you haven't fought for it yet.

>Don't use an adblocker
Fuck ads, and fuck you too.

>Watch any "youtubers" or "Lets players"
The fact that you chose this as an item of contention speaks volumes about you.

>Don't have or aren't working towards a difficult degree
I can print degrees, it doesn't mean you know a fucking thing.

>Can't install Gentoo with a guide
Gentoo is a derivative of Linux and hence it fucking sucks.

>Don't know your way around the unix terminal
I was using UNIX when they were still on the original codebase, so again, fuck you.

>Haven't ever rented a vps or dedi and set up your own services
I helped construct this thing called "the Internet" that you're using to spew your trash posts, fuck you.

>First OS was windows Vista or up
My first OS was DIP switches on a fucking VAX mainframe, fuck you once and for all.

You kids, you have no idea how far we've come. Yes, I really am older than probably every fucking one of you, most by twice as much. Retirement is nice, kids, someday you might come to understand this.

>static webm
you son of a bitch

>use OpenBSD as my main OS
>get told by some GNUtard I should go to reddit
Maybe OP should consider going there instead: I hear there are a lot of people like himself there.

Go create an exclusive 8ch board where you can ban people you don't like, assmad NEET

I'm currently using Slackware 14 and it's petty great. There aren't very many alternatives, because surely you aren't implying that Windows or Apple's OS is any better? Granted I'm only 26 but I would like to know what brought you to this conclusion. My first OS was Windows 95 on an elementary school computer lab when I was 7 which I learned what a computer was, and how to use one. Pretty cool you were there for Linus' original Usenet dump and Slackware 1 regardless.

Thanks user

The sad thing is, this guy is probably completely serious

>Don't use Linux as your main OS
Not even Torvalds uses Linux for a primary OS.

>Don't use a thinkpad as your main portable machine
The last good Thinkpad was the T43P. Sorry, I need newer hardware.

>Don't use a free as in freedom browser

Fuck you, ERB is funny...

A degree is not required for a decent career in IT. At least, not 20 years ago.

Fuck that. I'll own my own hardware, thanks.

ummm... back the heck off?

Retirement sounds angry, hope you don't forget to take your blood pressure pills, gramps.

maketecheasier.com/pulse-audio-equalizer-ubuntu/

Google harder.

You're like those tech mags (read; paid adveristing) that say you're not a real "techie" or "geek" or what the fuck ever if you don't have the newest smartphone, but worse, because you actually think stinkpads are quality laptops.

newsflash: thinkpads are like toyota corollas and seiko watches. you only like them if you're too stupid and timid to research and try other and better things.

>hurr which laptop is gud
>i dunno better buy thinkpad
>it sucks but i'm gonna ignore that because it was cheap

don't forget to like and subscribe, check out my patreon and use this code when you check out the sponsor.

Okay, kid.

You're a really sad person OP, you should get the off of your parents house and breath some air.

vsauce is awesome as countless other informative youtube channels. The numberphile and computerphile channels are some of my favorites.

I just read the rest of your post, you're a fucking retard. I research everything before I buy and have never owned a ThinkPad. Where did you even get that fucking idea? I mean, I'm honestly dumbfounded. It's like you took some random thing you saw on Sup Forums and decided to bitch to me about it hoping it'd apply.

The corolla analogy is actually the most fitting car analogy every made

>IBM made a handful of good thinkpads that were actually great for their time, and many are still running flawlessly
>and then the rest were chinkshit, many not even built by IBM
>high end models are basically macbooks (toyobaru)

See I never said anything at all about a ThinkPad, he just started bitching out of nowhere

>toyota corollas are bad
>seiko watches are bad

I thought you were OP under the assumption that nobody would be dumber than OP

>toyota corollas are good
>seiko watches are good

What made you think I was dumber than OP?

I do like 2 of these, u mad bro?

Dropped out once I got a foot in the door. Everything you learn in collage for a comp sci degree is old once you leave. Unless you want to work at a enterprise company working on 15year old hardware/software even then they don't teach that in school

Live the rice life.

Oh come on, it's a very valid point.

No, it's not. You can be a definite technology enthusiast and think desktops and the things they're good for are all trash, because distributed computing ala plan 9 is the future.

For me, because of having a computer related degree and being stuck in labs where I can't always use my laptop, using a VPS + owncloud for school work was one of the better things I did.

Also, it's all about hp probooks and hp servers. Don't let the Jews fool you

Okay, kid.

Okay, you can go back to playing around in blender while everyone else builds their own distcc servers so they can optimize gentoo for their 20 year old thinkpads.

business laptops are the best laptops.
The fact that you can get a laptop with good battery life, great keyboard and a fast processor at the price of a chromebook is really great.
I get that there seem to be a lot of people who can't afford to live a place with space enough for a desktop + laptop, or they move so much that they need a cheap portable desktop, clearly thinkpads aren't for those people.
New thinkpads are really expensive which is great for consumers as business are more inclined to sell them when the employee leaves or need a new computer.

ebin

>good battery life
>great keyboard
>fast processor
You dont get all 3 in any thinkpad.

compared to a chromebook?
Or compared to a newer intel processor?

obvious fake oldfag "i used linux when it was first posted to usenet"

plz try harder next time fag

either way
chromebook
>better keyboard
>faster processor
>worse batter life

newer intel
>better keyboard
>worse battery life
>slower processor

stop pretending Sup Forums isn't just Sup Forums for pc gamers

Stop pretending it is. Sup Forums is a technology board, there's just a Sup Forums leak

Sure the processor is slower, but lets compare two similar computers: x220 and x260.
The x220 is less than a fifth of the price and 5 years older.
But are the performance boost really worth it?

The battery life is vastly improved though

I'm with you on all those except gentoo is a literal meme and chrome will always be ahead of ff in everything
Also I've never needed a vps, why would I if I can set up my own fucking server you dumb shit op

>geekbench

only comparrison I could find of those processors

If everyone actually obeyed all of these rules, the Sup Forums userbase would drop so much that it would be the least populated board on here.

got you senpai
www.cpubenchmark.net/compare.php?cmp[]=2556&cmp[]=809
15W vs 35W and still better performance you can see why battery life would be better

but again, this means that you get 9 hours instead of 20. It is still in the range of what I would consider "good" battery life.

As I see it, there is no exciting reason to switch to the x260 as long as my x220 works.
I have tried the new keyboard and it is not that bad, I can fix the retarded decisions lenovo made with xmodmap.
If I were to buy a new machine again today, I might still get a used thinkpad as I don't see the reason to spend that much on a laptop I am going to beat up anyway.

Debian is the main OS on my laptop, (which is a ThinkPad,) my phone is a Galaxy S7, I do not think Telegram is secure, Firefox/Iceweasel is the browser I use, uBlock Origin is my adblocker, I haven't followed YouTubers and Lets Players in years, I've used the Terminal many times in my life, and my first OS was some pre-XP OS, (I can't remember which one,) on a beige box.

However, I haven't built a computer, I'm a NEET, I've never installed Gentoo, and I've never rented a VPS or Dedi.

Am I autistic enough, OP?

>>Watch any "youtubers" or "Lets players"
damn thats literally the only one I failed on. Bye OP.

You can stay around

Good thing I passed all of these.

No one said to use Gentoo, but if you can't install it (i.e. you can't follow simple instructions) you are retarded and should leave.

Just a reminder to check out the new legit let's plays video. You fucking cunts

>linux
poo in loo prajma

Not defending asshole OP, but those people don't count as youtubers.
Last I heard, they were not touring the world as youtubers and visiting their NEET and teenage fans.

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Is this really what people believe? Gentoo isn't popular but I'm a dev and I use Gentoo.

I've got a degree in Networking and Computer Systems and am working towards a bachelors in InfoTech (scrub tier I know) because local gov't has odd requirements for employment.

Anyone working in IT that can't isn't worth their salt. So yeah, but I prefer bash shell.
