I pretty new to PC building so recently I've been doing a lot of research. I'm pretty curious about what people think about amd CPUs, from what I can gather they are most times cheaper than Intel while providing what looks like greater performance, yet most people still recommend Intel. Any reason those of you who bought Intel chose it over an AMD?

Fuck off you retarded fucking moron

>they are most times cheaper than Intel while providing what looks like greater performance
That was the case 10 years ago.

More Ghz does not mean more performance

wait for zen

i5 is similar priced to fx series out preforms it

Only pick AMD if you like to tinker around. I got myself an fx9590 - i had it for about 1,5 year and I'm still having stability issues.

what are you tech illiterate??

>I got myself an fx9590

There's your problem

this

Bu-buh-but user, it's the fastest one ;

AMD's CPUs are old as fuck and they were mediocre when new. They only have value at the low end due to low prices.

Listen shitlord, no-one was supposed to buy the FX9000 CPUs.
I remember seeing the announcement for those things and I actually thought it was a hoax.

AMD is 50% faster than an Intel CPU that costs the same

cpubenchmark.net/compare.php?cmp[]=2660&cmp[]=1781

Also pay attention to if a benchmark uses all cores or not- AMD processors have more cores and so score really high on the highly threaded tasks simply through having twice as many cores.
>twice as many cores
>1.2 times performance in multithreaded tasks

Gaming is not a highly threaded task.

Watch out who are you calling a shitlord, boyo. If anything, you are a shitlord for not taking pleasure in harnessing the wild beast that is fx9590!

This is the kind of shit that makes me hate Sup Forums the most. Most posts are senseless shitposting using name-calling with no evidence supporting any fucking claims.

Threads like this would die so much quicker if people posted evidence or gave actual information

Op most of the PCs I build are for gamers, and most gamers are broke. They tend to go for AMD, usually in the FX-8350 range and enjoy the builds as moderate 1080p boxes.the gamers who are not broke spring for sixth gen i7's, sometimes i5's. Neither regret the purchase but I get reports that AMD runs hotter overall. I personally spring for Xenon when I go for intel because I do a lot of rendering in Unreal but if I did a personal build for gaming in the 600-800 range I would buy AMD.

Pretty much this.

It's sad that as people have escaped console gaming they still haven't managed to escape the console fanboyism. You don't need to defend your purchase as the only correct choice.

Just because it was the best you could afford, or best value for money, doesn't necessarily mean someone else isn't willing to spend an extra 40% for 20% more performance.

There is zero reason to buy any amd processor until zen comes out.
Now fuck off you retarded fucking morons.

Intel is better
Intel has patented hyper threading
AMD has a cheap attempt at hyper threading but is ultimately worse

Did you even begin to comprehend what we're talking about? It has nothing to do with your fanboy wars mate.

>>This is the kind of shit that makes me hate Sup Forums the most. Most posts are senseless shitposting using name-calling with no evidence supporting any fucking claims.
Do you not know how fucking old AMD's current gen of CPUs is? Jesus christ.

>There is zero reason to buy any amd processor until zen comes out.
>Now fuck off you retarded fucking morons.
Nice I see you got the just of
And posted supporting evidence

>It's old therefore whatever points I have made are valid

>>It's old therefore whatever points I have made are valid
Yes actually since the points I made were that AMD's processors are only good at the lower end due to their low prices.

...

THERE IS NO REASON TO BUY A 4 YEAR OLD CPU ON A DEAD PLATFORM BRAND NEW YOU FUCKING MORON, REGARDLESS OF HOW GOOD YOU THINK IT IS

>I scream the words in my head while typing them in capitals
Great job user you are making convincing arguments and supporting them with strong evidence

Try it yourself.
All these AMD shills it's funny
AMD even high end processor you will notice skipping in the game. Intel just runs plenty smoother

And Intel's core CPU have been the same for 5 years. They just change the name and socket but the speed is always the same.

>9590

AMD processors are a good value theoretically, but their single core performance is worse than Intel's so Intel CPUs will perform better in most tasks.

Fx6100 owner here. I myself have never had this problem.

That's pretty good for those AMD chips at stock speeds imo. Given the way people talk like Amd is pure trash and all.

AMD FX-8350 sitting exactly where
Says it should be. Also why not just type Kill Yourself or post a picture that implies we should kill ourselves instead of typing KYS?

Oh shut up. You know as well as I do the 9590 is a terrible cpu, that thing is a power guzzling fucker with no benefits other than being able to boast
>muh stock 5ghz
An fx83xx sensibly oc'd is a much better choice

Intel is better for single core peformsnce
AMD is better for multicore performance

>why aren't you my personal tech support/consumer aggregate site!!! reading rules is hard!

>amd
Get a intel i5-6500 or i5-6600, this way you will save money but get the same performance

Does not take a rocket scientist to open a web browser and look up i5 prices and performance

They are better in every way to the fx6ks and cost around the same

I have a fx8k because its dirt cheap with a shit ton of core for rendering'n'shit. Otherwise id use an i7

>Original post talks about lack of evidence and states that most people he builds for buy 8350
Great job on having your evidence be "you know as well as I do that X processor is shit" I see you learned a lot.

I'm all for supporting AMD but if younare building a computer for gaming or otherwise intensive tasks you simply cannot go AMD.

If youre only going to play hearthstone and do some light photoshopping then sure go for AMD.

>No where did he ask for tech assistance
>Only called out whiney name callers who don't support their claims
Oh ok

you're retarded

>Whiney name caller
>Doesn't support claim
I can see you have lead a difficult life user

Sixth gen i5 is roughly comes out to 100 dollars more than an FX8350 especially when sales come around and rebates are involved. I personally would just get the i5 at that point but from a broke poor person perspective I see the appeal

why would i support my claims in a retarded thread that's breaking the rules posted by a simpleton who doesn't know what google is?

Still using a Phenom II x4 955, I see no reason to upgrade. Still does everything from gaming, videos, dozens of chrome tabs, etc.

The better question is why would you post here in the first place? Like said it's people like you that keep threads like this alive.

Anything as strong as the R9 380/GTX 960 or weaker is fine when paired with an AMD processor since those cards don't aim for 60fps @ ultra in everything. I had an FX-8350 for the past two years, swapped it out a couple weeks ago for a 4670k + Z97 mobo I received practically for free and I'm 100% satisfied. My new CPU at stock was beating my 8350 @ 4.5 by a nice margin in a lot of the games I tested. DkS3 in particular is a shit port on the CPU side of things but I did not expect the difference to be so drastic. With a modestly overclocked 390, I went from ~43fps avg. in most areas to 50+ at 1440p which made for a much smoother and more enjoyable experience. I OC'd the 4670k to 4.4 and I pretty much never dip below 55 now and my temps under load are nearly the same as they were with the 8350. AC: Syndicate, GTA V (this in particular was huge!), Witcher 3, and Fallout 4 similarly noticed sizable gains even on higher settings than I was using previously. With everything but shadow distance and godrays maxed on FO4 I went from dipping into the low 40s fairly often in Far Harbor to a consistent capped 60. If you want 60fps or close to it in shitty AAA console ports on high/ultra settings at 1440p/1080p respectively then you really shouldn't go with an AMD cpu. The jump from my old 7870 to a 390 felt less impressive than the jump from my 8350 to a 4670k because my CPU was holding it back so much. I know tons of people out there are going to do this but I'd seriously hate to pair an RX 480 with an 8350 or weaker CPU, I have faith that Zen is going to be good.

Problem is an i3 6100 beats most of them except for the overclocked 8 cores and 6 cores.

Yeah with 220w power consumption and tdp

>why would people shitpost?
welcome to your first day on Sup Forums

>I act retarded, but on purpose
>Where I act retarded at makes it acceptable though

Nothing

Uhh...I think you're confusing which user you're replying to. I'm

If you need a good and cheap CPU, buy a used i5 2500k for like $80-100 and a mobo appropriate for the socket.

>i got banned from reddit and want to try this Sup Forums thing

>Everybody that isn't me is a Reddit user

When I said original post I meant the one you were replying to, not that you were the one who posted about the FX8350s

Wait for Zen.

For gaymen if you are low on money
>intel+amd gpu
or
>amd+nvidea gpu

or what most of us, who got money, do
>intel+nvidea

AMD is half the price of intel but it's also half the performance, dipshit. More cores doesnt mean more FPS yet, it might change with DX12 and Vulcan but it is not true today.

>passmark
KYS retard

>nvidea

>Kys
>Kys

When did this shit start and why?

That retarded kid in youtube?

I have embarrassed myself in front of these people

better off getting previous gen i5 than any AMD cpu if your going to game

if you arent going to game then just use a tablet because those watch porn just as good as desktop.

For the price AMD's FX CPU's offer decent performance but I wouldn't recommend one (I have an 8350). It performs well in most games but some games aren't optimized for 8 cores, causing the game to only use 2-4 cores, which are individually weaker than intel cores, which is a bottleneck in some cases.

Either wait for Zen and see what they have to offer or get an i5 or i7.
