I used 1280x1280 CRT or 4:3 aspect ratio LCD at least with high DPI and refresh rate.

1366x768 isn't worse. Actually it make be slightly better on those displays.
Refresh rate won't save you either. The entire problem comes from Windows' terrible handling of font scaling so higher resolutions and DPI aren't going to save you either.
It's just all round shit.
