SDD Speeds

post your ssd speeds fag/g/ots

>SDD

Dat 850 Pro feel
>firmware update fucking never

whoops posted wrong picture

>my ssd is slow
>still faster than every mechanical drive

mines even fuckin worse. Fell for the kingston SSD meme

>ssd
you mean STD

no i mean ssd don't be silly user

but it's so slow and diseased

>mfw buy adata sp550 480gb
>rated 500read/write
>do bench mark
>500 read/250 write

REEEEEE. Oh well, I got it for roughly the same price an evo would have cost for only 240gb.

Aaaaand sidenote. I cloned my old ssd to the new one and it said my write speed was over 500mb. Can't complain.

>flashdrive
>SSD
Pick one.

>those broken dropdown menus
How did you fuck up your system

I did the wrong picture and corrected it hereI was on a website learning how to set my sd card as internal memory on my shield tablet. I'm not used to marshmellow but it's the best damn feature ever, minus the complete lockdown and borderline crippling that happens to the sd card.

I'm not sure why he benchmarked it, like I know it's going to be shit I just did it for the storage

samsung evo

Crucial MX100 256

840 evo

PNY Optima.
Still feel bad I fell for the SSD meme, but at least I didn't pay EVO prices for it.

Its rated "UP TO" 520MB/s user, not that it will work at 520MB/s all the time.

Its not like sequential read/write speeds are that important when they are already that fast.
Random>everything.

"up to" should be fucking illegal and get you raped by hobo niggers.

Well, it does reach those speeds, but it wont stay at those speeds.

Its like when you move a file from one drive to another and starts at 500MB/s but then drops to 200-300MB/s with any SSD.

an internet connection can reach over 20GB/s too

If you let it buffer long enough.

>550/410
Kingdian chink SSD yet to fail

I bought a kingston hyperx fury ssd as a budget choice. I don't think I'll care much as it's just for my OS

SSD came under my "I can always upgrade it later if I really care" category

2x 840 PRO in RAID 0

>Spent $200 on tax stamp instead of animu figs or new PC parts.

I don't know what I'm doing with my life anymore.

Crucial MX100

Still faster than a mech drive.

Wow I'm retarded.

NFA? Whatcha get?

WA state reallowed manufacture of SBRs June 9th.

41P goes into effect July 13th.

Fuck 41P.

Samsung PM830 (OEM 830 model)

Works for me, it's on spec, about 2 years old, 94% "health" with 2.2TB of writes (out of 60TB claimed for the lifespan). Got it free so I can't complain.

>2x 840 PRO in RIAD 0

so a single one offers you about 550MB/s read performance
How on earth do you get 2548MB/s read speed when striping 2 of them?

It should be around 1000MB/s

Also your write speed is fucked up mate. Too low for 2x striped SSDs

I have 2x Samsung 850 EVO 500GB

Should I stripe them?
I would have to reinstall my whole system
Backup solution is present

its probably faked tb᠎h, everything but seq read seems correct

pic related, 2 850 evos

Do you want your storage to be approximately twice as fast as it is now? If yes, then yes. If no, then no.

See how that works?

...

its not twice as fast as latency is the same, it will literally only matter for very large file transfers, if you're bottlenecked by ~500MB/s you'd probably be better off using a RAMDisk anyway.

My HDD, brand new, did 160 MB/s read/write, thank you very much.

8192+0 records in
8192+0 records out
8589934592 bytes (8.6 GB, 8.0 GiB) copied, 14.5679 s, 590 MB/s

...

Alright... I might do it as soon as my vacation starts. So I have time do this.

Does Windows even utilize double the speed so you can feel it in overall system performance?
I mean... it's fast as fuck right now.

i7 6700K
DDR4 16GB 2133MHz

...

>everything that isn't thinkpad or linux related isn't Sup Forums

fuck off cancer

why is my samsung ssd so slow?

samsung sm951 NVMe

>tfw my pc boots faster than my monitor can turn on

...

ok, faggot, explain what an SSD has to do with video games?

You're benchmarking on Xbox OS to find out how fast your vidya can go.

what is this ssd ?

└─[~]─> dd if=/dev/zero
of=$HOME/XDDDDD bs=1MiB count=1000
1000+0 records in
1000+0 records out
1048576000 bytes (1.0 GB, 1000 MiB) copied, 1.3469 s, 779 MB/s

it should be faster but my dmesg is flooded with ATA errors so idk.

i already posted the model. it's using PCIe/M.2, so it's not limited to 550mb write speed.

the only one who even mentioned video games was you, you stupid fuck, simply benching your computer to see how fast it is has nothing to do with video games, everything uses your hd

fuck off

compared to an ssd , how it is reliable ?

it's still an ssd, so it's just as reliable as any other samsung ssd. you should probably go for the 950 pro, though.
the sm951 has no software support and only 2 years warranty. i only bought it because it's faster and was cheaper.

My old Chinese drive on SATA2

Some Corsair meme drive on a secondary JMicron controller. I hear this controller is a vapid turd, speeds are almost worse than I get on my T60P laptop with a Samsung 840 EVO and that has a SATA 1.5Gbit controller.

>>tfw my pc boots faster than my monitor can turn on
Too bad PCI initialization in the BIOS takes longer than SATA, in reality an M.2 SSD takes several seconds longer than an 850 Pro or similar SSD simply because your BIOS has to go through an extra step in the POST in order to boot from a PCI storage device.

11TB writes, 26k hours

is this becuase the pch for intel motherboards handles the ssd's? I'm a little behind the power curve when it comes to dmi and pch's these days. I know the cpu handles the ram directly, the main pci-e slot, but for laptops I'm unsure how this process works.

Does anyone still make PCI-E SSDs? Or at least AHCI M.2 SSDs on adapters?

lol thats slower than my mechanical

Currently running a HDD, no SSD.

Should I fall for this meme? I have always wanted to buy the 850 EVO 500GB but I'm not sure if I will regret it..

boot up times are way faster. os appears to be snappier.

I'm running some hybrid ssd/hdd
I don't understand why my results are shockingly lower...

Not on random reads though, mechanical drives fail really hard there. My mechanical on the same controller gets about same sequential speed, but the 4k speed is minuscule.

I don't even know why I have that SSD, it's kinda pointless. I also have an Intel 535 480GB, but no room in the computer for it and I'm not replacing my OS drive because it's too much work.

...

wow those are nice speeds. what machine is that?

samsumg sm951 nmve
