Does Sup Forums use any microphones? Which is the best?

apple earbuds are best.

BM-800

Talking is a deprecated form of communication.

blue snowball

Behringer C1

i use a tascam dr07

Keep in mind that $200 for a microphone is nowhere near the "best."
They can go up to several thousand dollars. In the professional setting, $100-200 is the baseline entry level, and what a lot of, say, YouTubers use.

Zalman is if you have no budget but need some way to talk.
Samson Go is the best bang for your buck, and sounds fantastic for a sub-$100 mic.
Blue Yeti can be overly sensitive for most people, but is very versatile.
Rode NT-USB sounds better than the Yeti, and is probably the best sub-$200 USB mic I've heard.

AT2020 is a good entry level XLR mic. Needs a preamp.
AT2035 is a slight, but good upgrade to the AT2020. Needs a preamp.

I have a Snowball but I should have gotten a yeti

Audio Technica ATR2500

Dumb audiophiles. Get a BM-700 or BM-800
Identical to the 'high end' microphones that have 1000% markup.

I'm not even joking, the BM-800 is a $18 condenser mike about as good as a $200 one.
You see, condenser mikes have been around for like a hundred fucking years. The shit that goes into them is not expensive.

>buying a high end mic for "Hey guys welcome to the next episode of Shower with your dad simulator 2016"

Gullible little fucks.

That one Zalman mic that clips on wires.

If you don't own this microphone you don't own a microphone

Ooh, saved that guide.

When I was in college I got to rent extremely expensive mics. It was amazing hearing the difference between them and dreaming up what mics would work best in certain situations. The problem is, even though there is a difference between good mics and cheap mics, the difference comes down to timbre, which is notoriously hard to describe. So maybe a certain mic at a certain price point will work better for you, but it's still hard to choose when timbre is so subjective.

That face when you spend $60 and get a phantom power supply, microphone, scissor arm, shock mount, pop filter, wind cap, and a microphone that sounds just like $2000 microphones.

AKG C1000S and D40

I thought this was a fucking moues at first, you scared me with that form factor.

>no modmics

dafuq guis

literal meme

I'm surprised the MXL 990 isn't on there, it's widely recommended. Is there some deal breaker I'm unaware of?

I use a Blue Yeti. I don't know much about audio hardware but wanted something that wasn't a piece of shit.

There are probably a lot of audio technicians cringing as they read this, since there are probably much cheaper microphones that are much better. To those audio technicians I say: Please tell me what those microphones are, so I know better next time.

>not just using a SM58

*tip tip

I'm in the same boat, only difference was the price of my Scarlett 2i4

the one on your left OP
don't be fooled by the jewish tricks of the one on the right

if you're purchasing a microphone to record vocals, get a vocal booth

>having a fuckhuge desktop mic

literally faggot

Check out audio tests on YouTube of ModMic vs Samson Go.
Modmic tends to have a high noise floor, so a lot more background humming.
Samson Go is $10 cheaper and doesn't have that issue - can clip it onto your monitor or whatever, and you'll be fine.

Yeti's decent if you set it up right, like putting it in cardioid mode, turning down gain, and getting the custom shock mount or cutting out a piece of foam to put under the stand.
Pic related is my old mic setup before I sold my Yeti.
You can also use mixers or something like Audition's filters to help with audio quality as well.
Else if you're buying something new, see and

Does anyone know if the AT2020USB is USB only or a regular XLR mic with a USB adapter?

SF920 as it is pretty cheap/decent enough for voip.

>Samson Go
i wonder how good it is compared to the microphone from the Sound Blaster Z

Make sure to unplug it when not in use or NSA will record literally every sound.

USB only.

Go look at YouTube videos and listen to each.
Personally I think the Samson Go sounds better.

USB mics vs 3.5mm Analogue (the 3.5mm going through a sound card)?

my main issue with my sbz is that it picks up a fuckton of ambient noise

as in it sounds like im sitting on the road when cars drive by

I bet this was really funny in your hea

the plus model is USB dude, I bought one at Guitar Center and the clerk almost sold me the XLR version and keep in mind they have a strict no return policy but I caught him at the last second

>using dildo mics

>Not using the biggest, blackest dildo mic you can find.

Neumann U87Ai

No

sm58 plugged into my internal creative soundcard

What do you suggest to record some ASMR?
Is the blue yeti worth investing in?

Electrovoice is the best I've heard. A normal cheap dynamic mic like the Shure or clones is fine for pretty much any voice communication or podcast or youtuber. Condenser mics are annoying unless you have a studio to record in. They'll pick up every little noise in your environment.
