Now that the RX 480 is the worst GPU ever made

Now that the RX 480 is the worst GPU ever made

Can we all agree that the 1060 is the new king of budget cards

Good perfomance and drivers for a good price

We'll see when the 1060 comes out, but it should be ridiculously easy for Nvidia to beat it, because the 480 is such a disaster

It's actually kinda bad because it means nvidia will have no competition

What are you talking about? The Rx 480 shits on the gtx 970. Nvidia will have to make the 1060 with at least 8GB of vRAM, the performance of the 970, and cheaper than the 8GB Rx 480 ($239).

Protip: they won't.

>1060 comes out January 2017
>price is $350
>has only 3 gigs of Vram

hahahahahh

> 1060 not even being *announced* until next week, actual launch will be months later depending on degree of paper-ness
> will be a 192b 3/6 GB card
> still almost guaranteed to cost >$250 due to 1070 essentially starting at $400 and crawling up to $500 territory
> will still be barely updated Maxwell architecture that sucks balls in DX12

All that said, it could still be a decent value if they don't repeat AMD's mistake and give it a cripplingly low 32 ROPs.

>plays all my games on highest setting @ 40 FPS

thanks amd.

i also started bleeding trying to open the fucking box because the manufacturer decided to glue the damn thing shut.

Literally the worst ever, lmao, AMD is pathetic.

> all these gamer debates on Sup Forums

I'm around cryptocoin miners. They talk about GPUs and their mining rigs all the time (20-40 radeons). I don't even remeber the last time they mentioned nVidia. We all have ROI btw.

NOT a consumer review site

>It's actually kinda bad
this is really fucking bad
the only thing amd has a bunch of really poor, retarded fanboys
the desktop market will be a total monopoly
just in time for it to stop existing I guess

Nvidiot shills are going into overdrive with damage control and are too stupid to realize that 480 is the reason why 970 and 980 are going on fire sales.

They are also too stupid to realize that 960 was a bloody joke since its launch for $199-249 crowd (a.k.a majority of PC gamers). ROFL 7950/7950-670/680 performance in 2015.

The 480 was a game changer in that price range. They finally at 970-tier performance which means that PC game developers can push the envelope further without having to resort to 660-tier parts as the baseline.

You're right, Sup Forums is for weebs and pedophiles to discuss which linux distro is best to keep the NSA out of their CP collection, 100% of threads have to be about that or else Sup Forums is invading.

>3GB VRAM
>$250

The 1060 is going to be just as big a piece of shit as the 960 was. We already know its performance too, given it has exactly half the CUDA cores of a 1080, plus a gimped memory bus and slower memory. It'll do well to even match the 480.

You are right. Sup Forums is ruining this board.

Funny how you automatically call out Linux users

You're telling me, there a shill looking for extra shekels on leddit, hovering around his own thread about the big bad power draw average from the pcie lsot and answering everyone to the contrary. Maximum damage control by inflating non-issues

AMD is better for mining Trumpcoin

>Sup Forums is ruining a site whose entire demographic is young males
You're in the wrong place if you are going to sit there and bitch about things young males are overwhelmingly interested in.

There's a REALLY simple solution to your problems. It's called ignoring what you don't like.

>price/frames best on the market
>performs as good as gtx 970 on dx11 and much better on dx12

here, have you're (You). (You)'ve almost deserved it.

>Can we all agree that the 1060 is the new king of budget cards
>Good perfomance and drivers for a good price
What do we know for sure about its performance, drivers, or price?

>ignoring what you don't like.
Ignored for long enough. How about reading the sticky before making threads?

And here i am just w8ing for my comfy 50watt 1050ti

I didn't make any threads, I just like provoking people like you. I already know you can't just not respond like the emotionally stunted man child you are.

Is it the same butthurt autist posting these? Your tears are delicious

Ran out of arguments? How typical

Hey N/v/idiots. Image related.

The 970 is actually cheaper than the 480 sadly at the same performance. Nvidia doesn't even need to come out with a new card if they don't want to because the 970 already beats the 480.

facebook tier

AND HE KEEPS RESPONDING, THE ABSOLUTE MADMAN

Sorry we're interrupting your fapping to chinese cartoons

Uhh the 970 was already $250 for weeks before the 480 came out

...

XDD What a master trole

Just keep posting memes, it's much more productive than video games

Please, keep giving me (you)'s, I'm begging you. I need to keep your attention on things your don't like so that you never learn to just avoid what you don't like and your life is shittier because you take this place so seriously.

Only if you are were going into used market. New 970s were still going around ~$299 USD for majority of etailers until impending launch of 480 and 470.

I'm choosing an AMD at random to ask this question. Why is it such a big deal that the card draws more wattage than allowed by PCIe spec? Isn't the power from the bus regulated by the motherboard? If a card is drawing more power than allowed by spec, isn't it because the engineer who designed the motherboard made it so that the motherboard can supply it?

I'm not planning on buying a reference card, I've never bought a reference card because I always thought it was stupid to do so.

It doesn't matter at all.
380 did it, 960 did it, 1060 will probably do it.

Well, I've been here for a while, not just the summer
Oh, too serious for this board? I get so nostalgic

based on what benchmarks?

All electronics are designed with tolerances, but n/v/idiots like to act as if the spec is the maximum extent a board can go to before going poof. They're just butthurt that people actually expected the RX 480 to perform about as well as it did and are trying to do damage control.

Nope, they've been $250 brand new for weeks, actually under $250 now

Literally none of those cards did it.

The 480 is the only card to go beyond the motherboard power spec and it's quite frankly dangerous.

>it's quite frankly dangerous.
Elaborate

It's not that you're too serious for this website, it's that you hate the interests of the primary demographic of this website. It's like complaining about anime reaction pics.

Poor-fag Nvidiots are butt devastated that their shitty overpriced 960s got pwned hard in its price range.

They are regretting that didn't wait until 970 drop prices until their current levels due to 480.

Cheap motherboard plus cheap card = housefire

Funny how the cheapest one at Newegg is still $265 and I think that's a reference design with a single fan.

>impending launch of 480 a.k.a a few weeks before its official launch

>Nvidia nods etailers to drop prices on 970 in response

>being this stupid

>Poorfag Nvidiot detected

It could destroy your motherboard

It's not a problem as long as nothing more is connected along the path. And it usually is.
RX480 is a cheap card. You can assume it will be paired with cheap motherboard. It will be a disaster.

Bullshit
Also:

8>3.5

Nice projections you fucking Sup Forums cancer.
Sup Forums is for tech literate people to discuss technology at a fundamental level. People either have a job in STEM or are working towards one, they are open-minded and curious and like to mess around with stuff just as the old MIT hackers.

Sup Forums and gaymer reddit on the other hand (you) are braindead tech illiterate consumers which definitely do not belong here. Your board is shit but you do not have to make ours too

pcpartpicker.com/products/video-card/#c=186&sort=a8&page=1

One of them is one of the highest clocked 970s available for only $258, pretty amazing desu

The guy thinks his motherboard is going to burst into flames rather than just just letting out some smoke and then powering down.

>Literally none of those cards did it.
tomshardware.com/reviews/nvidia-geforce-gtx-960,4038-8.html

REMEMBER ALL THE 960 HOUSEFIRES, GUISE?
ITS REALLY A PROBLEM!!!!

If its 1280 cuda cores 1060 will be a waste. Nvidia could have hit a home run with a 230ish mm2 chip with 1500+ cores but they always gotta jew fast.

The 970 actually dropped in response to the 1080 and 1070 release.

When you aggressively overclock and overvolt GPUs you always run into that risk.

Performance GPUs have been pushing the envelope for years.

Nvidiots don't realize that their shitty "GPU burning my motherboard" argument is also applicable to reference 1080s also run very close to limits of PCIe and a single 6-pin connector when loaded.

>Sup Forums is for tech literate people to discuss technology at a fundamental level.

I love the delusions of the people who get so buttblasted that people here play video games. Sup Forums was never for the MIT types. You are not that important. Stop deluding yourselves. Nobody is stopping you from having important discussions on here. Do you think successful people are stopped because someone else decided to post in a thread they don't like?

That's with a promo code that judging by what it says only works til the end of the month.

Are you really this upset about this shitty amd release? Are you one of those idiots who spouted that it would be better than a titan and now goes around saying B-B-BUT ITS A BUDGET CARD!!! ?

1060 will be underwhelming shit because Nvidia wants to eliminate the sub $400 GPU market. 400$ is basically the new $200. With $200 you either get a really gimped Nvidia, or equally shitty AMD that runs 2 times hotter. Both of them will be too underpowered to run any new game at high settings. Entry level GPUs are not really needed anymore when CPUs have integrated graphics.

Try again, see pic

The 960 easily falls within spec, it's not the spikes, it's consistent power draw that is the problem

Now compare to the 480 which goes to fucking 170W under load, way out of spec

Jesus christ you are retarded, the 1080 doesn't use 6 pin

>worst gpu ever made
nice bait

I use both AMD and Nvidia. I like to see some one talk about BOINC for once instead of manchild game benchmarks

>I want everyone's autism to be as severe as mine

Sorry

it's not yours really.

swallow your tears and deal with the fact people have different interests from yours, I hate these threads as much as you due to it's lack of content, but implying people who have interest in these subjects are any worse than the ones who post at /dpt/ or /flt/ is just retarded.

>who get so buttblasted that people here play video games
That is not the problem. The problem is that that demographic is full of tech illiterate underage kiddies that do not know what the fuck they're talking.

There was some strawpoll last week that showed that Sup Forums is mostly young single men living at parents. E.G. losers.

Gotta say that these graphics card baits/threads are beyond retarded. Even if the whole board was conisdered literal aids, these faggots would be 10x worse.

Literally nobody said that it would beat a titan, just that it would be within spitting distance of the 980 and beat the 970. Maybe non-reference designs with a better cooling and an 8 pin connector rather than the 6 pin one could beat the 980, but people expected the 480 to simply perform someplace in between the 980 and 480.

And the demographics of ricing threads and smartwatch generals is better how?

If gaming is not a manchild hobby, you are free to go back to plain and simple. Don't trash this board

filter the threads if they bother you that much, sperg, you don't get to say what goes and what doesn't in the board.

>/dpt/
Those guys at least can program and many have jobs or working to get one
>/flt/
Discussion of the only viable alternative to the Windows and OS X is good.

What should I buy between the 970 and the 390?

The only cards left are a 390 Gigabyte and a 970 ASUS. Would the 3.5 memeram affect me in the long run even if I stick with 1080?

I am upgrading from a 660 ti and have a 3570k.

Getting really fucking sick of Sup Forums ruining every board on this site. Yesterday they were spamming /k/ with stupid shit and now this.

Mods you need to keep the v faggots contained. Better yet just delete Sup Forums so they can all fuck off to Jim watcuckins pig chan and be contained there as they should be.

Really getting sick of Sup Forums

It still doesn't stop the fact that reference 1080s are running close to their single 8-pin setups.

>There was some strawpoll last week that showed that Sup Forums is mostly young single men living at parents. E.G. losers.

Yup, although I wouldn't call them losers, but I'm sure you envy their freedom

Sup Forums does not have ricing threads and definitely not smartwatch generals.
Just because you've been here for a few days because you saw that epik greentext xD on reddit doesn't mean you know everything about this board or Sup Forums.
Kindly fuck off out of here

>Waah!!! Total power consumption is within spec so it's totally fine that it draws well over the spec from the PCIe bus
Are you retarded or something? You were just complaining that the RX 480 draws more than the spec from the PCIe bus and now you're trying to excuse the 960 when it does exactly the same thing?

Honestly if you don't play video games these days, you are a fag

Srs question tho
Is there any reason to get a 480 when I can get a 390x for the same $$$?

>Sup Forums does not have ricing threads and definitely not smartwatch generals.
And you accuse me of being a newfag?

That was just with the Asus Strix version. None of the other cards had this problem.

Sup Forums is mostly console oriented, this is actual Sup Forumss demographic, they just lurk the other threads but feel like they can contribute when it's such a menial discussion on GPUs.

>What should I buy between the 970 and the 390?

Performance is nearly identical. 970 uses less power and puts off less heat.

>lol ur a fag XDDDDD
Argument of a Sup Forums kiddie.

Stop posting

>living at parents

yeah I sure envy your freedom bud. I mean you're not using proprietary software, so NSA spies won't even find out you're jerking off to anime five times every day. I'm sure your mom doesn't know either, she just thinks you've had a cold for the last 20 years straight.

The 960 doesn't go out of spec moron

If you want to see what it looks like when a card goes out of spec, see the pic to the left

Link me to them you dip. We get the occasional/rare homescreen thread but that's pretty much it

Sorry you're a loser

The 390x is way faster than the 480, definitely get it

I like how quickly you Sup Forums babbies run out of arguments. Anyways, you can stop trying hereby

>"The 960 doesn't go out of spec moron"
>Says this just after being shown a GTX 960 drawing peaks of over 150W over the PCIe bus
Once again, total draw is irrelevant when you draw more than the spec on the PCIe bus. It IS drawing power out of spec.

If the 960 isn't blowing boards, the 480 won't be blowing boards ether.

The truth hurts doesn't it

Shilling this hard

This. Fucking degenerate weabfags need to be locked away
