i bought pic related. its a ducky one cherry red white and grey pbt sublimated caps. also bought a monoprice 10 foot long usb cable to reach my computer. its my first real mechanical keyboard. its replacing my corsair strafe i just returned.

did i do good?

>url for those interested
>mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=1686

yeah

ducky shine 3 stopped working. think it might be usb cable. says usb device not recognized.

any ideas? leds aren't even powering on

meme aver another meme

...

i ordered mine

fresh memes

I should get Kotori to go along with my keycaps.

woo!

just need to program it now
(assuming nothing went wrong in the soldering)

What's the difference between ducky one, shine, and zero?

Yeah that's pretty good. Maybe work your way up to some better switches eventually, but other than that sweet.

looks sweet

what caps you got for it?

thanks!

once it's done, i'll just put on the caps which came stock with my pok3r.

i have an order of 1976 ergodox caps coming but
1) i might hate the profile
2) i might hate shiny abs
3) the gradient being slightly off might bother me to the point of not being able to use it

but no other set has caught my attention for the time being.

Ahh yeah

I myself can't get behind abs at all, and i don't like how the spacebar breaks the perfect gradient on 1976.

better switches? i thought cherries were great switches?

Can I put ALPS in this bitch?

There is going to be an immeasurable amount of shit beneath those caps

Amount of flare

the spacebar wouldn't be an issue because it's the ergodox layout, but this also adds more problems

yep! just let him know if you want a cherry, or alps plate layer.

i believe the default full kit comes with matias switches

Awesome brah. I have some cream ALPS I need to use

When I see a board like this i want to make a what the fuck board with random switches. Be like nigga its alpscherrytron. Maybe grab some of cooler masters switches too.

Naw cherries are all marketing man. Gaterons are wayy smoother and still cheaper.

sounds good my man

i think you'd need a custom plate laser cut for that? with some holes for cherry and some for alps

but i really don't know

yah but would be fun to do.

yeah, agreed. that would be quite the ultimate switch testing really

Best

Does the Spacesaver come in meme flavor?

is there ANY keyboard other than the practically nonexistant TEX Yoda that has a trackpoint and is mechanical?

Or am I fucked?

Now we need the guy with soap case to post his abomination.

Has anyone used one of these? I'm debating between this and the Spacesaver II.

In particular, I want to know how these trackpoint buttons feel. They LOOK like total shit, and the lack of a middle click might cause me to go with the bigger SSII anyway.

maxi switch/lexmark m13

space saver only comes in membrane buckling spring for mechanical, with no trackpoint. need a kishsaver for better switches ($$$$$$$)

the II is still a rubber dome, nothing special at all

God damn it. That doesn't come tenkeyless, does it?

right, m13 is full-size only. model m ssk and model f kishsaver both don't have the trackpoint.

shitty catch 22, but imo trackballs are way more fun

the kishsaver does not, no

but there is something called the Model M SSK that you should look into

Those don't have trackpoints.

I'm looking for a TKL Trackpoint Mechanical.

The only thing that you're going to get is the tex yoda, which as far as I know is unavailable and only 60%

Yeah I've been looking for the TEX Yoda for months. It's literally the exact keyboard I want. Feels bad man.

I miss this keyboard... Complicated white ALPS.

fugly

You can usually middle click by pressing both buttons at the same time...

agreed, more tacky pseudo hipster crap

It's just a magicforce (best budget mechanical) with shitty keycaps.

I guess I have no choice but to go with the antimeme and buy a shitty bluetooth island style scissor switch keyboard until I can get my hands on the retarded rare Tex Yoda :(

...

...

If I could find one of those for under $50 I would probably buy it.

...

Been typing on membranes my entire life and now looking to pick up a mech. When I stopped by microcenter to try out some keyboards, mx reds felt louder than blues (probably because I was bottoming out a ton).

Should I just start with a $100 MX blue keyboard or just try something like clears or greens? I do a bit of programming and a little bit of gaming.

topre

Always a pleasure

I decided against it because scissor switches are cancer. Having to use them on my laptop as I type this is bad enough.

I'm sure you bottom out often faggot

try this

Is there anyway to convert a rubber dome to anything more mechanical without soldering new leads? Adding springs, adjusting the rubber domes somehow? I don't even need it to be completely converted to a real switch, just something less rubber dome-esque

depends - but why???

I have a particular rubber dome I'm fond of.

Aw hell yeah, I got my Planck plates.
Paid 8$ for both of them, a quarter of what I was expecting. Found a local laser cutting shop and they finished everything in three days after my first email to them. I couldn't be happier.

Now I'll clean the plates to make them look like new, and after that I'll begin ordering the rest of the keyboard parts.

dumb fourchan un-flipped my photo, sorry.
Posting again.

Any site that ships keycaps from europe except ukkeycaps?

i know they have a lighter spring but are GATERON browns less tactile then zealios? and would they be less wobbly

No, not really.

>less tactile then zealios?
yes, but not terrible like MX browns
they do wobble less

This is kind of very important. Go to a Canada Computers or NCIX and check out their demo boards to see what you like.

What does /mkg/ think about the g710?
It's currently 60€, and i've never owned a mechanical keyboard.

Gay but less expensive than other gay shit.

I spent some time on google and found a switch I think would work for me

ducky

Tolles keyboard, freund.

Was Holz ist das, Mahagonifarben vielleicht?

Entschuldigund fur meinem rostig Deutsch, ich komme aus verdammt Bulgarien...

i'm not german

it's walnut IIRC

I've tried all switches.

Nothing better than topreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Going with a ducky shine 5

Is there a split keyboard, smaller than the ergodox? Kind of like a split Atreus.

>I spent some time on google and found a switch I think would work for me
Fuck you, go into a store to make sure.

pretty sure there are split plank builds

wow hey these are kind of expensive

like 300€ expensive

Anyone want a candy corn clack for $100?

i like this

...

someone on leddit made a split atreus
thingiverse.com/thing:1646718

or like said, you could do a split planck. i believe wootpatoot just did a splanck pcb group buy

Since some anons are mentioning split Planck, there's always Diverge TM, which is a split Terminus Mini.

unikeyboard.io/product/diverge-tm/

Or just Diverge, but it's pretty big.

Is there any place to get keycaps like the ones in this photo?

How about this?

...

I just don't get the price. How is it justified?

its not

I want something tactile or clicky for typing, though. I just don't want to annoy my roommate. Maybe I'll just stick to clears, since browns are supposedly gross.

being made in germoney

man i want that windows keycap

GF wants to buy a Razer keyboard. Reasons why not to? Alternatives?

break up with her

breaking up with her is probably a good idea

shitty, inconsistent quality and proprietary switches (that are inconsistent and low quality). two friends of mine have the new chroma black widow and while they're the same switch type, one feels like knockoff blues while the other feels like mushy reds. you'd have to ask your wife for specifics like switch type and leds if you want alternatives. if she wants rgb, the ducky disco seems promising.

I'm German. It's not justified.

paying $400 for a custom korean keyboard isn't either but whatever
if you've ever bought a GMK keyset you could have expected this

weird question: has anybody ever tried using smooth (i.e red or black) switches on the WASD keys, with clicky switches on the rest?

I hate blues on the WASD keys for gaming but love them for typing, and don't want to own two keyboards.

Anyone tried it?

so you want to ruin your typing experience for gaymes

just buy two keyboards, stop being a bitch
