2560x1440@165hz

>implying the human eye can see more than 130 fps

I got dual 2560x1440 60Hz IPS monitors for $520 total.

>implying the human eye can see more than 「current year」 fps

4K 60Hz

>implying the human eye can see

I prefer 4K for the image quality, I'm not a Q3A pro who needs 300FPS or some shit.

>implying humans can see the eye

4K 60 Hz is the clear winner

>tfw 4K 40Hz

I'm not some gaymer manchild so idk

I'm happy with my 1440p @ 90Hz.

anything with 144hz, I just can't go back to 60 Hz anymore.

>1080p
>in the year of our lord 2016
lol.

Depends on what you're doing.

reaction based games = higher refresh rate
work = higher resolution

The compromise is 1440p@144hz

3840*2160*60 = 497 664 000

1920*1080*144 = 298 598 400

You are getting twice the pixels processed with 4k60fps so if I had to choose obviously I would choose that.
If I ever feel like going 1080p144fps I can always decrease resolution with that setup to get twice the performance too.

This is a fucking stupid comparison. The only games >60Hz even matters for are fast action games. It doesn't help in any other game nor does it help in other applications.

1080p is a legacy technology, it's just for console users.

>Implying human eye can see past 900p

>"How can mirrors be real if our eyes aren't real"

What do you think you're doing you fucking retard?

1920x1200 16:10 60hz

3440x1440p @ freesync

I fucking just want a decent freesync range goddamn it.

1080p 144Hy 24 inch monitor masterrace.

You got the MG279Q? You can adjust the FreeSync range to 57-144hz using CRU. Definitely worth a try

4K @ 144Hz

Are you a pro FPS player? If so, you must not be very good if you can't afford 1440p/144Hz.

Who is this qt anime girl?

looks like some random person uploaded it to an anime image site 7 years ago.

Nah, a Qnix Korean monitor.

>1080p is a legacy technology, it's just for console users.
but user, consoles can't even do 1080p.

4K for still images, word processing, graphics design, etc.
144Hz for vidya and shows.

1440p 144hz

I like the way 4k looks but unless you want to pipe 1500 dollaroos into your comp, you're not going to get stable 60 frames.

Plus the 144hz is sex

Is 144hz actually worth it? I have 1440p @ 60hz and don't play any twitch shooter games, mostly just games like Witcher 3

You don't have to play twitch shooters to benefit from 144hz. Even basic windows use so much smoother.

I have a Dell s2716dg (1440p 144hz). I love the higher resolution and higher refresh rate, but if I had to pick one I'd go with higher resolution. Once you get past 60hz, there's diminishing returns and the jump from 60hz to 144hz isn't nearly as noticeable as the jump from 30hz to 60hz.

Not yet. I paid $500 for mine, which was a good deal, but I regret not waiting longer for prices to come down further. I'd say wait until you can get a 144hz 1440p monitor with free sync/g sync for $300 is the sweet spot, and waiting for an IPS model to be that affordable would be worth it as well.

It is noticeably smoother. Hard to describe, but basic FOV feels more "realistically smooth". That being said you need to go above 60fps to actually take advantage of it.

Probably not worth it if you already have a good monitor.

Are ultrawides a meme? Was considering picking up an X34 to replace my dual-monitor setup.

yep they are.
if it aint 16:9 or 16:10standard, then its a meme.

...

>using eyes

There are 2K monitors with 144 hz right now, and there are 144hz IPS panels right now, wait until they combine and buy the result.

525p 29.97hz

I have an x34 and its awesome

don't listen to this faggot he's super gay

I use a 1080p 120Hz 24" as my main monitor. I have just got used to how smooth every movement is (even stupid stuff like window movements and just scrolling)

As a secondary, I have a 2160p 60Hz 27" monitor which I mostly use for movies / series

The moment 4k 144Hz comes into an affordable price range (~600€), I will replace my 24" display though I would have to upgrade my GPU for that as well

what is the best 16:10 monitor with a thin screen border?

>high RF monitor for fast games
>high res monitor for muh graphics games

so get both if you play both

fking ur mum lol

2p 1hz

144hz is comfy. It's pretty much impossible to go back to 60hz after getting used to it because it feels sluggish and just plain bad. Even just browsing Sup Forums or typing up a text document is so slick and nice in 144hz. I don't mind the 1080p since my monitor is only 27 inches.

Grey import a 1440p 90 or 120hz IPS monitor for aprox 200 EUR or Dollar.

1080p at 27" seems awful, those are ppi values we had in 2001.

4k 60hz

Just use your brain to imagine it in infinite resolution, infinite refresh rate

640x480 30hz master race.

Spooky

Is there really a big difference between 144Hz and 120Hz? I can buy a 1080p 120 Hz monitor for around 300€ in my country, but 144Hz monitors are hard to find at affordable prices. I would use it mainly for playing TF2, Fistful of Frags, some retro games and for watching movies and for work.

>Is there really a big difference between 144Hz and 120Hz?
depends on how good your sight is, for me everything above 110 looks the same and i regret buying a 144hz monitor

How much did you pay for your monitor? I'm checking the prices of some monitors here, I could buy a Asus VG248QE for 270€, it has 144 Hz refresh rate.

>Is there really a big difference between 144Hz and 120Hz?
No, there's virtually none.

There is some difference between e.g. 120 Hz and 240 Hz when observing stroboscopic effects at high viewing angles (where your eye is much more sensitive to flicker), but that's about it.

QNIX QX2710@120hz

For all intents and purposes they're identical, and in fact I recommend setting your 144 Hz displays to 120 Hz as well if you like to watch videos.

1080p 60Hz

I don't play games, so I won't really benefit from using a high-refresh rate display. My computer is kinda weak and it probably even wouldn't be able to handle one.

8k 200 hz.

Fuck you, we IMAX nao.

>PAL scanlines
>NTSC framerate

I see what you did there, m8.

this

multiple 4k televisions now display 4k at 60hz or 1080p at 120 hz

1440p is absolutely worthless

I recently picked up this bad boy

newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824014383

It is a 27" 2K monitor by BenQ. The thing is not all IPS panels are created equal. The vast majority of IPS panels for some reason only display around 16 million colors. This panel can display over 1 billion colors. The only shooter i play is overwatch and at the not even at a serious level. I like single player games where getting 100+ frames will not be noticeable over 60 frames. But i also watch a lot of movies and do some photo editing so getting a 2K IPS panel was a pretty easy choice.

If you have $800 to spend there are some 144hz IPS monitors out there.

I went with 1080p 144Hz.

All my parts are coming in the next 3 days.

This is for gaymen, of course, since I dont do work at home.

I recently got a 1440p 144hz monitor to replace my old 1080p 60hz monitor. Been using it for a day now and been loving it.

When I got my GTX 1070 on Friday I spent of day of kinda regretting it since I couldn't see any improvement with my current monitor. Now that I have this new monitor I'm loving the combo upgrade. My old card could never have run 1440p at a decent framerate. The GTX 1070 can though. And this monitor can show me just how good that GTX 1070 can be.

I was worried I'd regret spending almost $800 in one go but so far I'm loving it.

Why not 1440p with at least 120Hz?
On monitor topics, I wonder how an Ultrawide with virtual desktops compares to three monitors. I already use virtual desktops for the others and still have to move my head when the work gets too cluttered. Which madmen have multiple keyboards and mice?

>with 1080p 144Hz.
right choice user, im jelly asf

>implying the human eye sees discrete frames at all

Dell 24inch 16:10

Type that in to Amazon.

as a console gamer i can say that noone can benefit anything from more than 30 fps. you just cant see more. also, who needs resolution higher than 1080p? what are you, having face 5 centimeters from screen?

Would a 1080p 144Hz monitor be a waste if TF2 would be the sole game I played?

That's way too much for that. I got mine for around 230 USD
(around 206 €)

my mom said to say sorry for calling you a retard, asshole

yes, why would you still play a shitty game...

Seriously, the game aside, would I have any benefit from playing on that kind of monitor? Would gameplay be smoother and more fluid? Of course I need to have a better rig as well.

Did you buy the same product or anything different? But yeah, prices here can be too high sometimes.

Can all 144hz monitors be under clocked to 120hz without issues?

why doesnt she have a mouse?

1920x1080 @ 23.976 Hz for most videos.
1920x1080 @ 59.94 Hz for everything else.

are you fucking blind or do you simply not know what a trackpad is?

I actually thought about doing this but it seems awfully expensive

I'll probably consider it when I build my pc whenever cannonlake comes out

what is a trackpad

Seems you don't, because a trackpad and digitizer don't usually count as the same thing.

I ain't paying that much to play games at about 60hz

Also there's a 200Hz 21:9 1440p IPS display

dual 1440/1600p 60hz
maximum comfy

>digitizer
you mean a graphics tablet

my friend has that 165hz meme monitor and he hates it
he runs it at 100hz because it needs almost twice the power to run games at 165hz instead of 100hz
so you better have a beefy system if you want anything over 100hz (i7 and a 980 minimum)

a quad core CPU would work for most games, you'd just want something from intel running at 4ghz most likely

Otherwise for 1080p 144hz you can easily get away with an RX 480, I already have the display, just need the GPU, finally going to rest the 7850

30hz - 144hz range here :^)

a quadcore i5 would be the minimum for 144hz
and with amd's driver overhead you'd need a 4ghz i5 qc to run modern games at 144fps.
even with my 7970 and my 4670k in more cpu intensive games I'd be running at 100% cpu usage if a lot was going on, or 70% if things are fairly calm. and that's at about 60fps. I couldn't get solid 60 fps until I upgraded to my 4790k that I have now.

you NEED an i7 if you want to run games well at above 60hz.

1440p 90hz.

The only games that really benifit from high refresh rate are fps esports games, and there's only one big one (CS:GO) and that can run on a potato

Although the human eye and brain can interpret up to1000 frames per second, someone sitting in a chair and actively guessing at how high a framerate is can, on average, interpet up to about 150 frames per second.
The point:60 fpsis not a 'waste'.

Dell u2415

When you go 144hz, resolution will no longer matter. 60hz is crap
