I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Tux,
is in fact, GNU/Tux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Tux.
Tux is not a mascot unto itself, but rather another free component
of a fully functioning mascot system made useful by the GNU horns, cape
body and a matching set of clothes comprising a full mascot as defined by /gd/.

Many computer users use a modified version of the GNU mascot every day,
without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU
which is widely used today is often called "Tux", and many of its users are
not aware that it is basically the GNU mascot, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Tux, and these people are using it, but it is just a
part of the mascot they use. Tux is the sidekick: the mascot in the system
that supports the main hero.
The sidekick is an essential part of a mascot, but useless by itself;
it can only function in the context of a complete mascot system. Tux is
normally used in combination with the GNU mascot system: the whole system
is basically GNU with Tux added, or GNU/Tux. All the so-called "Tux"
mascots are really versions of GNU/Tux.

Wow!
Thanks user, have a rare tux.

Okay, this is stupid, but it just gave me a good idea.

What if a good, interesting, mainstream-appeal game was made and released for free on GNU/Linux only, with the pretense that it's intended to make people try out GNU/Linux?

Maybe that could bring a major amount of market share points to GNU/Linux as a desktop OS.

I was thinking the samem, actually

Had a plan to present people to the /agdv/ devs with some libre games so they use it as template. The only thing needed would a competent developer with a good setting (story, artwork, etc) willing to make the game.
Is a win/win because they want experience and always try to learn some game engine when so many games already exist which they could use.

Anyway, you probably have an idea but basically you could find developers even at the /vg/ board is you insist enough.

>samem
kek, touch typing backfires

I don't actually. I am definitely not the person to take on a thing like that. But every now and then some genius with determination and a benevolent heart does shit like that and I think the idea needs to be thrown around until such a person catches it. It could have an amazing effect.

Totally doable, with many games out there the only thing left is having a good story and a generous developer and you have the publicity for GNU/Linux.

Since windows 10 can run ubuntu natively now, they would just use that

Thank you Microsoft tech support.

Ubuntu is not an application.

Getting normies to try Ubuntu would be a step forward.
