in the usa, there are 100% open source cars.

>tfw the botnet wants me to die in a car crash

I do what now

Good. I want to have a job until I'm retired therefore I support proprietary software whenever I can and so should everyone else.

I have a bike, it doesnt run any propietary software or firmware
.

>his car isnt mechanical diesel

If you use the Internet you support proprietary software.

The most advanced thing in my car is a 1997 fuel injector that uses a 8bit microchip for sampling

No sofrware in this baby. It's all mechanical and easy to work on.

Pick up highschool chicks

>What's it like being a luditte in 2016 without even basic fucking bluetooth

Feels reliable man.

Feels like I won't get killed by shitty software, mang.

>Being this assmad that you don't have a car, let alone enough money to buy an extra shtf vehicle

>needing bluetooth to drive

Freetards BTFO

No there aren't, fuck off shill.

Yeah, and?

WHY
THE
FUCK
WOULD
I
NEED
BLUETOOTH
IN
A
FUCKING
AUTOMOBILE

Not if the car is old enough.

I'm guessing for hands-free phone kits.

Personally, I have an irrational hatred of bluetooth going back fifteen years.

you might as well walk around town with rapist tatooed on your forehead

What if it was £300 at the auctions?

>nukarz r unrealiable becuz computers lmaoooo

There's nothing irrational about hating bluetooth

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth#History_of_security_concerns

Yes, you need the utmost security for the anime music or phone conversation that is blasting out of your car stereo.

I drive an 82 austin mini mayfair.

Metallic silver, original sealed beam headlights, 997cc engine. The radio has a medium wave button and is the most advanced piece of electronic gear in the car.

It's my baby.

>original sealed beam headlights
Ew.

It's a show-car, I'm not replacing anything for authenticity. They suck but like I said, this thing is my baby, it's a labour of love.

That thing is a deathtrap. Why are men so irrational?

Oh, I thought it was your daily driver. Props on keeping it original, friend.

Oh fuck off with anti proprietary shit commie.

postin in a car thread

also

there are cars that don't have any computers in them yes. mainly older cars.

>tfw having a modern open source car

You wouldn't want those, though.

Daily reminder; Sup Forums is full of millennial retards who think life started in the 00's.

only patricians would want them.

Yea, nah. Driving an old car as a daily driver is mental. Old cars were pieces of garbage from the factory, never mind after 20+ years on the road.

And which old cars have you DD'd user?

I think theyre swell

>nukarz r reelibuhl becuz compoturs xD

Eh.

I beg your pardon?

My car is too old to have SNES controller ports.

>am scurred being h4xx3d by l33t h4xx0rs

I don't own a car. Jokes on you

That's a weird Delorean.

There aren't any Deloreans with a Toyota badge on the front and back.

Too many to count.

my car has a ECU, but it at least doesn't have all the bullshit new cars have

>my car has a ECU
It has more than that.
>but it at least doesn't have all the bullshit new cars have
And what 'bullshit' do modern cars have?

>And what 'bullshit' do modern cars have
infotainment meme
sensors on literally everything
10 gorrillion airbags
tiny as fuck rear windows

None. Got it.

4A-GE has electronic fuel injection fuckface

>he didn't replace his ECU with a MegaSquirt

But I drive pic related. Nothing I could not fix myself.

Whatever you want to believe.

good thing I got a moped

>infotainment meme
Don't buy it, then.
>sensors on literally everything
Oh no, enhanced control and diagnostics! Who could ever want that???
>10 gorrillion airbags
Literally nothing wrong with safety.
>tiny as fuck rear windows
This has everything to do with styling and it isn't even common.

>This has everything to do with styling and it isn't even common.

You know fuck-all, it's not a trend, it's directly related to needing massive pillars and high belt-lines tp meet safety standards.

#ImAFaggot

#ImAFaggot
f

suck my dick faggot

Right, so you should have no problem listing your top 3 worst DD's then. Go.

>Don't buy it, then.
not a option with a lot of cars
>Oh no, enhanced control and diagnostics! Who could ever want that???
more things to go wrong
>Literally nothing wrong with safety.
cars are inherently unsafe
>This has everything to do with styling and it isn't even common.
it's very common, and it's because the nhtsa wants cars to have built in roll cages

this heap of shit is more reliable than any new abomination being produced right now

You know not all old cars were made by Americans, there are imports and they are just fine.

>You know fuck-all
Nah, I know way more than you, you dumb ass nigga.
> it's directly related to needing massive pillars
They're not massive and absolutely should not cause visibility issues. No car I currently own from the last 20 years, including a MY2016, have any issue.
>high belt-lines tp meet safety standards.
See above.

It's only an actual issue on cars that do it for style, like the 5th and 6th generation Camaro.

Anyway, you're just going to bitch about safety equipment because you're an idiot, not because you have a point to make about how they're genuinely bad things.

>Jeep
>reliable
No. If you believe that, it's not a surprise that you don't understand new cars.

Daily reminder that even a car from 1996 is still usable in the road

the newer ones are, because chrysler can't into cars anymore

Have fun repairing your proprietary computer system on your own when it breaks down

>They're not massive and absolutely should not cause visibility issues.

Backup cameras are becoming a necessity because windows are awful. Literally none of the recent cars I've driven (last 5 years) have rear visibility that's even comparable to vehicles from just 15 years ago.

>implying it's hard to activate solenoids at certain times

>use and financially support proprietary software
That's perfectly fine

Because I want developers who work on the software that I use to actually be paid

Pay attention to the driving, like the software tells you to do and you won't :v)

Jeep has never been good or reliable.

>compyooters iz unrelyabul bcuz my grandpappy tol me
I will, it's not hard thanks to factory service manuals.

>Backup cameras are becoming a necessity because windows are awful.
No, they're becoming common because they're a good idea.
> Literally none of the recent cars I've driven (last 5 years) have rear visibility that's even comparable to vehicles from just 15 years ago.
I don't know what cars you are driving, then. The only ones I've had problems with poor visibility on are notorious for it, or it has always been a problem (supercars).

explain
>cheap as fuck to replace parts
>cheap as fuck to get anything that's not a wrangler
>godly amc i6, until chrysler fucked it up with their minivan engine

>No, they're becoming common because they're a good idea.
because normal people are complete retards
I can back into a parking spot only using my side/rearview mirrors

Why wouldn't it be?

Go become an hero you fake femanon.

dat nigga was watching harry potter

GNU/Bike

>they don't know about flashing the ecu for more power/ engine control

>I won't get killed by shitty software

You will get knifed at the recharging station though.

IF the tools to do so aren't a closely guarded OEM secret

picking up middle school chicks

>No, they're becoming common because they're a good idea.

Same thing for
>ABS
>Automatic transmissions
>50 airbags
>TPMS

Just more shit to go wrong. What if it was a conspiracy to make more money off of repairs under the guise of "improving safety"

Nice clean Bronco. 84-86

Is that why most Jeeps I've seen get over 300K miles before they finally die?

most cars can get to 300k easily with normal maintnenance, it's just that they either get crashed or scrapped way before that

Because men have vastly higher testosterone levels to women. In the womb, male babies have twice as much testosterone as females. As adults, men have 8 to 13 times as much testosterone as females.

Testosterone has a number of effects, among them being that it makes you more aggressive, and more likely to take risks, which I guess explains why men like things like powerful cars.

GNU/Car please

>It's all mechanical
Well that's not true, you've got electronic lights for one thing.

Also what about an ECU (or is it only cars that have them)? And an electronic ignition / starter motor? (my dad's bike has a starter motor but I guess older bikes don't)

The parts are cheap as fuck because they're garbage. The designs are weak as fuck on everything Jeep has ever made.
Sure, after heavy repair Jeeptards always forget about.

Yea, I'm not even gonna touch this dumb shit.
