Degaussing

Beige

God dammit, now I want to install windows xp again. Does it have the same level of botnet as others?

what?

just never go online with it

I'm not sure which is more satisfying... the fact I can download a 1080p film now in a matter of minutes, or the feeling I had in the morning after torrenting all night, and getting some shitty 480p chinese rip of a film finally complete it's download. I certainly wouldn't want to go back to them speeds, but the feeling of having finished downloads was much more satisfying.

Really?

...

You must be at least 18 to be here.

BONGGGwaahhazhzhzazazzzzzzz

Yeah but like, in mainstream use

I was always so disappointed that I could only do that once every few hours

I miss Bob :(

He had a gender reassignment and he's now called Cortana

At least Rover is safe.

I had this powerfull ass magnet from a radio antenna, if it was anywhere closer than 2 feet from the CRT the image would start warping, I could make it build up magnetism so fast so I could degauss again it broke the thing in a month.

Father never knew.

(mostly) Passively cooled devices

OH MY GOD YES

i'm 22 faggots just never felt the need to put a magnet on my electronics

>xp
>old school
summer is here

CRT displays build up their magnetic field naturally, there was an option in the menu to degauss, lower it down to stop image warping, retention, color shift and some other shit.

It has nothing to do with putting magnets into your electronics.

OK then. Well I also never used that option.

That is one of the rare times beige has ever looked nice.

I kind of miss tweaking my system to get the most out of it and reinstalling windows every month or so. I did everything so I could get my P233MMX with 64MB to play RA2 with 2 AI players. Think that's just getting old though and now having money to just buy whatever I need.

I used Nero Burning ROM back then I loved it. Pirated it down with my very first private tracker. Neighbours usually came to us to use it and I made them pay. It was glorious.

t. Post-soivet country

This is where it is at

>tfw still get to do this

Where do you live? No one does it anymore.

What does location have to do with degaussing?

...

Poor sandnigger tier countries that still use CRT's

Just look at best korea and their windows 95

my.mixtape.moe/cqfxdj.ogg

Oh, I'm in the US

Detroit?

There are people using CRTs all over the place

?

Like shit like that in all the nigger huts?

I'm not fucking poor, I just have a CRT that gets used regularly.

>i'm 22 faggots

its a meme you moron

And they say Sup Forums isn't a hivemind...

No it's not
You're fucking retarded

Ok buddy

PS1 startup sound. Once in a while when nobody else was home, I'd plug into my dad's stereo and crank the volume up so high it would rattle the windows.

Still have my PS1 (and NES and Atari 2600), working like new.

>11 year old forum thread about south Korea and win98 somehow makes "North Korea uses win95" a meme
Fuck off to reddit, retard

Oh god you are retarded. Im just going to stop here, you obviously never heard about NK using 98/95

And well past their support date that is..

My favorite defragmenter was Norton, or something like that, on DOS. Oh my god, that extended ASCII block representation. Fucking loved watching that run. I think it must have been Norton Utilities Disk Doctor. I think an earlier version, maybe, had a more colorful representation.

Here's a video of the early Microsoft one (which I'm sure they bought from somebody, but I don't remember who):

My favorite practical old-school tech were the LZ executable compressors. Back in the Amiga days, running everything off a 3.5" floppy, it was faster to load a compressed executable and de-compress it in RAM before running it. The tool basically compressed the executable, then wrapped it with an executable wrapper.

On Windows there was a product with a similar goal, but I think it did whole-disk compression. StackIt, or something like that. They sued Microsoft when MS implemented their own variant.

Found it: Stacker. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stac_Electronics

Damned nostalgia.

I'm reminded of the time I replaced the Windows 98 dedragger with the ME defragger.

Full tower cases made from nice solid steel that you could use to stand on if you needed to change a light bulb.

...

mine was never that clean

I believe the correct grammar is, "WE'RE 22 faggots."

...

I have two Voodoo 2s complete with SLI cable laying around here somewhere, really should get around to building me a nostalgia box.

>Just look at best korea and their windows 95
>Not Red Star OS

that shit was satisfying

...

Yeah no, I used one of these again recently and there's no nostalgia. Laser mice are vastly better.

Always defragment 3 times, user.

These exist they're called smart phones

This little fucker right here was amazing for all those late-night Quake multiplayer games. Bunnyhopped so much the right mouse button exploded.

RIP in pieces Intellimouse

Carefull there. The boy's got an army of 21.

I loved this one so much more than the others.
Was fun looking at blocks turning color as they were moved about

Having actual control over my installed software.

I don't miss having to clean my mouse balls or rollers, but early laser mice were genuine garbage. They started fielding them long before the lasers had enough DPI to stop jumping around.
