>>Sir, would you mind?
>Yes.

does this actually happen?
people get their OS searched in the airport?

"It's an operating system based on gnu/Linux you retarded fuck"

Protip: If you are discovered to use Linux at a security checkpoint, you will be put on a list.

daserste.ndr.de/panorama/aktuell/NSA-targets-the-privacy-conscious,nsa230.html

>The XKeyscore rules reveal that the NSA tracks all connections to a server that hosts part of an anonymous email service at the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

>It also records details about visits to a popular internet journal for Linux operating system users called "the Linux Journal - the Original Magazine of the Linux Community", and calls it an "extremist forum".

Freetards BTFO

>implying you're not already on a list for using Sup Forums

The only way how to travel these days with notebooks while hiding your power level is to take out all your HDD/SSD from notebook and prepare distro on usb stick with any important data encrypted at some online cloud thing waiting for you.

The laws are getting more and more ridiculous and even airport security guy with a bad day can't put cp on your disk if you don't have any.

In the worst case scenario you have to just destroy your stick :-D

Or... encryption?

What if the device doesn't have any OS ?

Never in my life have I had my OS searched on my laptop at an airport.

They do that if your laptop looks suspicious through their scanners. They'll make you boot it up to make sure it's not been modified into an explosive. That's all fine, but as soon as the Linux kernel boot messages start scrolling up your screen they'll think you're a hacker and detain you for questioning.

Seems like you have never been to UK. Even now some politicians and policeman are thinking of putting encryption into illegality.

Also if the security guy wants to see your HDD content and you won't tell him pass, you may never get into plane in the first place.

Besides notebook without disk is lighter and therefore more portable :-)

Kek. Way back in the day we used to smuggle drugs in old electronics. There is A LOT of shit you can stuff inside a laptop without it being out of place on the xray or preventing the laptop from booting.

Not so much you can put inside a macbook, but dem thinkpads took half a kilo of shit each.

it depends on what you look like

TSA won't turn on your laptop. If you're travelling internationally customs will, but that's not TSA.

Big whoop. They probably have a shitload of lists with shitloads of people covering all kinds of retarded shit to the point of it being completely useless to them.

A tsa agent at JFK airport pointed to my laptop and asked if it was mine. When I said yes he just opened it up and swabbed it with something. He never even bothered to turn it on.

Those swabs are for finding explosives.

>Not having a fake windows partition that boots by default

Crossing from USA to Canada it is common to get detained for having an ANIME WALLPAPER, they will make you boot up and log in if you haven't travelled across the border before. This one guy got banned from using computers and internet for a year and ended up doing a plea deal for having weeb shit, AND IT WASNT EVEN LEWD. He literally just had an anime wallpaper, and some lame normie garbage mangas on his hdd

>Care to explain this
Arch is how you LEARN how Linux works, no noobuntu here officer just mad skillz

the plea was for 'obscene material'

Just an FYI before this thread gets out of hand:

blog.tsa.gov/2010/01/can-tsa-copy-your-laptop-hard-drive-and.html

troll harder -_-

>Arch is how you LEARN how Linux works

Why? U can explain this¿?

Freetards vindicated you mean

Never going to Canada

yet they cant stop domestic terrorists like that mudslime who killed all those faggots despite him being on multiple watch lists.
im not worried

Yet another reason to buy a ThinkPad.

Based Canada doing god's work.

N-no. Please don't open tha-

This is fucking disgusting. They're fucking drawings, there was literally nothing wrong with anything shown in that video. It disturbs me greatly that the prosecution might've actually won the trial had it gone that far.

Had to prove each of my devices could boot when going through security once, held up the line for a good 20 minutes, fun times.

>it is common to get detained for having an ANIME WALLPAPER
I have yet to figure out the bad part of this story 2bh

I found that case interesting as I travel to Canada, Japan, as well as other countries quite often from the US *with* obscene material (lewd wallpaper on laptop and physical hentai novels, manga, and doujin) without any problems. I wonder if it's certain types of people that trigger them. I mean, you'd think they'd stop a guy carrying multiple drives with him as carry-on including the aforementioned materials. Never once stopped nor questioned.

>TSA is going to have to wade through hours and hours of kinky porn

It's called encryption. It's what terrorists and snowden uses.

>It's what terrorists and snowden uses.

Redundant

If you're retarded Arch will fuck up all the time, forcing you to fix shit that pretty much never breaks on non-autist operating systems.

That's why archfags think they're l33t haxx0rs

>not switching your grub default with 0 timeout windows when traveling
It's like you're asking for trouble

I have to imagine there's a reason they won't tell you what manga they're talking about. It's all I was wondering the whole time and they never tell you. It's gotta be some boku no pico shit if they're afraid to tell anyone what it is.

I heard it was just some real normie shit, IDK how the guy knew but someone mentioned exactly what it was once.

Arch? That's Open Firmware.

>"It's another operating system called Linux. I'm a programmer so I need to use something more advanced than Windows or Apple."

"I'm not responsible for your lack of education. It's a laptop. Deal with it."

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called “Linux”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project. There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use.
Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called “Linux” distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

mfw I've unironically adopted g'noo/linux when talking about g'noo/linux, or g'noo plus linux

pedos need to die

There's absolutely nothing wrong with being a pedophile. Acting on those desires is a different story.

yea I thought the same thing until I started to intentionally show off in front of boys at the swimming pool showers
things get worse

>oh its broken sir
>some ransomware i dunno

Please come this way, sir.

Comic books are for manchildren anyway. Good of them to sweep up the degenerates.

Imagine how many times Stallman had to go through this. Especially with his appearance he could be mistaken for a terrorist.

>for a terrorist

More like for a hippie.

>Sir, why aren't you using Windows or Apple?
>Sir, why are you using a Chinese bootleg laptop?
>Sir, I need to verify your Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Gmail/Yahoo account

On a scale of 1-10, how triggered will RMS be?

>implying there is a difference

1. Stallman will tirelessly explain his politics whenever anybody asks or anytime they get their thoughts confused.

See
I imagine it's more the huge queue of people behind him who'll be at 10

>Acting on those desires is a different story.

Why should he get to defend himself there? That's up to the courts.

One of them just smokes, the other explodes and then smokes

Of course, you also need to strip down and then you get a vaginal dilator shoved in your asshole for a very thorough examination of your rectum.

Honestly, I know you guys aren't going to like reading this, but if I was an agent and saw
youtube.com/watch?v=ltdgSEPPCZs,
that would be a red flag for anyone.

You know damn well those pics are borderline, and what they're depicting.
>b-b-b-b-b-but its not real!
>b-b-b-b-b-but it doesn't show anything!

This guy has got the classic nerd look, the pics, the weird eccentric interests - he fits the bill whether you'd like to admit it or not.

Yes, it is a shame that these days you can get screwed over from just about anything, but also having a little common sense is necessary.
How do you function as an adult, without ever having learned to hide your power level?

Secondly, how do you function as an adult without ever having grown up and leaving video games, cartoons, Mongolian cave drawings behind?

All meme aside.
Will they really search my laptop while travelling to the US? Never had that happen on flights inside the EU or even returning from the UAE.

you should delete your trap material before traveling

Why are they even searching your laptop in the first place?
They have no right to search it unless you give them the right to do so.

s.ai/tsa/tsa_rights.pdf

They have the right to inspect your device in broad daylight but not the right to inspect it's data because that is a breach of personal Privacy and illegal by that extension.
They can however get a Police officer if they have "Valid Reasons" to search your laptop and said police officer will ask for software access to that device (He can, and he will apprehend you legally until your device is screened or until you give him access to the device in question).

Has for encryption forget about it if you fully encrypt your hard drive your fucked beyond relief.
There are laws on Key Sharing when you travel abroad (Except Canada if your travelling there your gucci you don't have to give them jack shit but you still have to let em in[The police if prompt])

>tfw a barebone Clevo laptop with no branding on it
>tfw Loonix with "hacker" stuff everywhere
>tfw everything is encrypted
>tfw I have like 2000 images from 4chinz with some fucked uo shit there

If I ever go to America and see my laptop, my OS and my pepe folder they will destroy every electronics I have.

>This guy has got the classic nerd look, the pics, the weird eccentric interests - he fits the bill whether you'd like to admit it or not.
I guess John Carmack is a pedophile too because he looks nerdy, arrest him!
>How do you function as an adult, without ever having learned to hide your power level?
Some places are more tolerant to revealing your power level than others. America is a good example.
>Secondly, how do you function as an adult without ever having grown up and leaving video games, cartoons, Mongolian cave drawings behind?
The two aren't mutually exclusive, my dear autist.

No, just don't look like a pedo and change your wallpaper beforehand.

LMOS - the Last Measure Operating System

>tfw everything is encrypted
Enjoy being detained indefinitely until you decrypt the data.

edgy

this nigger is right, I hope he makes you think, children.

He just looks like a fat nerd that stays at home all day

Hacker stuff means auto-opening terminal, a strange font, scripts on the desktop, not chrome as a browser, some programs for writing in C,C++, Python and Java, you got it. Stuff that seems alien to the casual user and makes you look like a hacker in their eyes

Wow, you are so hardcore dude!

> This guy has got the classic nerd look
Soooo, what if I posess such pictures, but look ripped and it wouldn't be such lewd stuff, but, say, Akiyama Mio on my desktop? I don't do that, but what if I do?
> How do you function as an adult, without ever having learned to hide your power level
That's very true. It's not like I'm ashamed or anything, but people around doesn't seem to be interested in that stuff.

whats is this?

Wow
Kys

Yes, they are also quite within there rights to detain you or your laptop if you don't hand over the password and let them take a full copy of your unencrypted data.

>"Sir, we need to inspect your data to make sure everything is okay"
>they find my 10gb xeno folder
Atleast it's not illegal

Only in UK.

It would literally be thought crime if pedophilia was illegal

bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-25458533

Nope it started in the US and is still enforced more there than any other country in the world on a per passenger basis.

I came back from Japan with a suitcase full of lewd manga and doujins and CBP didn't even bat an eye. I was wearing an FDNY jacket though that probably helped.

Also this was the picture in question that got him the child porn accusation
