Install deb7 on old laptop

>Install deb7 on old laptop
>no way of connecting it to internet
>want to use it as a DVD player
>try to install MPC or VLC through USB
>Both have a assload of dependencies
>Both don't offer a way to download all the dependency's at once for side loading via USB
Can anyone prove that last statement false?

1. Download the applications onto another computer running debian

2. Copy the /bin/ do the USB stick

3. Copy the programs onto old computer's /bin/

Why dont you sideload network drivers

Why don't you install XP instead?

Lazy. And the screen is cracked so long steps that require me reading the screen are out.

Good idea. Thanks.

>Why don't you install XP instead?
You can't buy it anymore. Or I would.
And I don't want my drive to suddenly encrypt 2 hours after use.

And this, gentlemen, is why I prefer Ubuntu.

why could people figure this out on windows xp in 2001, yet can't anymore

Debian is shit, what did you expect?

they clearly state in the instructions that you should add a folder with drivers in your debian installation usb

not their fault

You're a retard. There are like 8 easy solutions to your retarded problem.

>Lazy. And the screen is cracked so long steps that require me reading the screen are out.

Use another monitor?

>And I don't want my drive to suddenly encrypt 2 hours after use.

Go to the subscriber downloads page on the MS website and check the sha1 of the legit XP ISO you want, also check its size. Then go to some torrent site and order the XP torrents for size, look for one that's the same size as the legit ISO, it will barely have any seeders; download it and check the sha1. That's how I get genuine Windows ISOs.

bait?
It would be the exact same on ubuntu.

The software needing dependencies has nothing to do with the distro.

>fuck debian, so much bloat
>except for muh wifi blobs, please install them for me, i'm too dumb

Yes but debian is still shit
Literally can't even install grub properly during it's installation

Noone said anything about "bloat"

I only met one computer the internet didn't work out of the box with Ubuntu. Wired worked fine, WiFi didn't work without driver.

I think it was an old hp pavilion laptop.

can't you do something like
export HOMEBREW_PREFIX=~/direcotry
brew deps mpv | tr "\n" " " | brew install

but in debian and copy the directory?

>Use another monitor?
Why do you think i have another monitor, but not using it?

And installing a new OS is not a reasonable solution to fixing a software problem.

Link or it never happened.

>Literally can't even install grub properly during it's installation
you're just stupid, just accept it

Computer does not have internet because it was made before wifi cards were standard on laptops. Not because the OS.

>Why do you think i have another monitor, but not using it?

You don't have a TV in your house? Then go to any 24/7 food place at 4 AM and ask them to hook up your laptop to their screen. You clearly lack street intelligence.

>And installing a new OS is not a reasonable solution to fixing a software problem.
>You can't buy it anymore. Or I would.

You clearly don't want to fix your problem either. If you only came to attention whore you're a sad piece of shit.

>Link or it never happened.
on the debian site, look for the instructions

I'm not doing your homework

>on the debian site
Are you talking about installing debian from USB?
I already have debian working on the computer.
As for MPC, it shows MPC and all of it's repositories. There are just a LOT of them, and no option to download all at once. Was hoping someone had an easier solution, like
came up with.

This worked. MPC working fine right now. :D

> came to attention whore you're a sad piece of shit.
Kek. Someones projecting hard.

Almost every ( every major) distro Ive tried asked me specifically where I want grub to be installed and I always install it inside an extended partition where I left a /boot partition.
It has ALWAYS worked and it showed both OS' installed.
But, debian doesnt do that.
It doesnt even ask you where you want grub installed.
And do you know what it does? It basically tells you to fuck off and installs it to the hdd beginning and overwrites the existing bootloader which makes me need to get a fucking windows 7 installatiln and go fix the bootloader with it.
Its a piece of shit and for such a large distro it has an amazingly shit installation process

Just fucking plug it in then. It cannot be that hard to get the WIRED internet working. If you can't figure that out then you should be using Ubuntu.

>You can't buy it anymore.
What?
No-one ever bought xp in the fucking first place
Pirate it like everyone else with more than 50 IQ points

>Just fucking plug it in then.
Yep. Because i'm retarded and don't know how to plug the ethernet cable right next to me into the router that's also right next to me.
I'ts not obvious that I don't have access to ether of those things. Thanks user.

I'm joking.

So many manlets trying to feel smart in this thread.
