I was walking around with my MBP in my backpack and got caught in a downpour
the laptop didnt look like it got too wet, so i dried it off. It was running real slow so i decided to shut it off
Did it suffer permanent damage Sup Forums?

Probably not, water is more viscous than air (try walking in a swimming pool) it's the same for the electrons in the CPU, let it dry out and it will be back up to speed.
macbooks will actually run slower if a certain signal doesn't get picked up by the CPU.

use a linen bag around your device, then drop that in a bag of rice.
You can also use coffee beans, but rice works better.
