Installing a program on Windows

Installing a program on Windows
>have to open up browser
>have to find malware ridden developers website which opens at least 3 different pop ups to russian porn sites
>"herro, you must be subscribe to our email to get FREE TRIAL of this program!"
>have to run exe file which takes forever and asks for me to install 5 different "free offers"
>program ends up taking up way too much space due to all the malware that comes with it
>open it up
>system crashes

Installing a program on Linux
>sudo apt-get install niggers
>5 seconds later
>open terminal
>"niggers"
>it just works

Why is Windows so fucking hard to use? Worst Sup Forums meme I ever fell for, you fucking autists just love making things complicated.

just4u

>install program on linux
>cabt use it because part of your hardware doesnt work
>turns out only another distro has the shit required to make it work
>install it
>another piece of hardware doesnt work

>try to install a program on windows/GNU/Linux
>have to move the mouse and type on the keyboard
Fuck this

>Not blocking ads on your network via Pihole or other DNS filtering
>Installing anything with a "Trial edition"
>Using applications hosted in fileshare sites
>Not taking 5 seconds to use google to find the best program for your use case

This isn't even good bait

>needing to block things in the first place instead of having a trustworthy OS
>implying good free software exists on Wangblows
>Google only turns up lifehacker articles which tell you to install malware

Try again

>install program onto laptop
>have to put the computer on TOP of my LAP
fuck this

>centralized repository
Makes you think whos more botnet OS

>what is ninite
>what is chocolatey

speaking of botnet, how do people find out in the first place if an OS is abusing their privacy and data. If a brand new OS popped up, for instance?

network packets

Installing a program on Windows
Find-Package xFireFox | Install-Package

But you're right for the most part. Having to use your browser to find an installer is awful.

They are garbages, maybe more than the windows store.

>Why is Windows so fucking hard to use?
o i am laffin

Literally the easiest operating system in the world to use, even my mom can do it. You downloaded Bonzai Buddy didn't you!?

>installing a program on Linux
>oh fuck you have negative space, never mind

kek

Let's not pretend Linux is perfect.
>sudo dnf install program
>you need x, y, and z dependencies
>open google and spend 15 extra minutes finding out how to get dependencies

Or maybe stop using shit package managers, and let the good ones handle the dependencies FOR you

>you ever fell for, I fucking autists
fixed

how? why?!

>Linux
>Drivers for literally everything included in every Linux kernel

>Windows
>have to search for drivers buried deep in the support pages of various manufacturers
>have to go through a convoluted process of installing them
>have to do this for every fucking device plugged into your computer

the one that has hardcoded backdoors to microsoft and sends encrypted screenshots of your desktop, of course

>sudo apt-get install whatthefuckever
>apt-get proceeds to install all required dependencies

But that literally doesn't happen
None of it
Except for free offers at times but just check off the box

>Windows
>take screenshot
>"You can not take a screenshot because there is copyrighted material visible on your screen"

windows cucks will defend this

Windows Update will never compete with a proper package manager, sorry shills, it's not on the same level.

>ERROR: Dependency version requirement not met.

Well shit, guess I can't install that app.

The only thing you might have to search for is the network driver. And that's only if you have very old or unusual hardware.

From there Windows update will take care of things 90% of the time.

>mfw windows 10 shills will never understand the package manager

install a program in windows
>unzip archive to folder
>run .exe

dat's it. put it anywhere you want.

uninstal
>delete folder

woooowwww

>implying ease of installing programs is the measuring stick of operating system quality

How many programs are you installing a day?

Compatibility, performance, ease of use for day to day tasks. These are the things that matter.

i agree and i'm a windows user. i'd be using linux full time if it supported more popular, commercial software.

>G-gimp c-can do that too...

Give me one thing gimp can't do that photoshop can.

The professional editor audience

>becasue every person is a graphics designer.
Turbo autismo doesn't even know about VMs.

You didn't answer my question.

Windows Store is the package manager, guys. For developers, Visual Studio has its own package manager.

UFS by default reserves 5% of space that can only be written to by root. if this reserved space gets written to then the capacity shows > 100% and availability show negative space.

What is better with gimp, something Photoshop doesn't have?

Does gimp have pantone colors yet?

What's a good one? Seriously, the post you replied to stops me using Linux regularly

>answering a question with a question

>ansewring a question with a question

isnt photoshop in the fucking cloud now? dont you have to have a subscription, and if you stop paying you stop having photoshop?

what a joke

>m-uh Adobe.
Why do autist shill some niche shitware thinking everyone needs it?
Windows doesn't have TensorFlow nor Docker but that doesn't make it unusable for the general population.

Thank you.
So Gimp doesn't have pantone colors yet.

So have you managed to come up with something that gimp does better than photoshop?

Yes, you have to buy a subscription to the entire "adobe cloud" to have access to photoshop. It's autism

>people still argue that Gimp is better than photoshop lol

Not the guy you're replying to but gimp's not a closed source botnet.

To be honest after using chocolatey, I realized that the CMD install shit was garbage.

I still prefer going to the website and reading about the program majority of the time, but at least it's easier to install programs on a fresh install of windows

Pick one:
Use GIMP, jack off about muh open source
Use PS, actually accomplish your work and be successful in life

What's better about photoshop?

Gimp's user extensible.

>autism
>botnet
Oh right... I'm dealing with shut ins that have mental disabilities that prevent them from being socially developed enough to get a job and use professional editing tools.

Photoshop has plugins too...

I know successful graphic designers that use GIMP.

It's the only software graphics designers that came from a shitty community college know to use and like to feel superior.

What is this Windows program you speak of sir?

uTorrent or something?

I'm not talking about plugins. Plugins are difficult to develop unlike Gimp's extension system.

>Why is Windows so fucking hard to use?

It's not hard, it's just retarded.

installing a program on osx:
>brew install program
>brew linkapps (if it's an GUI app)
And we also have photoshop and other professional content-creation programs :)

pretty comfy

>installing a program the right way on OS X
>port install program +options -options
>no linkapps bullshit
>/usr/local not raped and dripping with ruby webdev semen from every hole
>it just werks

typical work environment for a homebrew user

I’d just like to interject for a moment. What you’re refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called “Linux”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called “Linux” distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

I can install anything without using a mouse you pleb.
