Google Cardboard General

Anyone have one of these? Any cool apps or tweeks you've done to it? I found something called RiftCat that works with SteamVR.

its shit and hurts your face.

Buy padding. You get what you get for the price.

It's only a toy, and that's not a bad thing.

Thats true, its something to fuck with.

what's a good one to get? I've been thinking about 3d printing one for a while
there's also piece of software that'll make it work as a vr headset with your PC

Cardboard is decent for VR porn. It only takes 1 hand to hold it to your face.

Don't spend more than $30 on any of these cardboard headsets. Save up and buy gear vr

They would sell more if this was on their site.

or just attach a strap so both hands are free

I made my own from templates and ordered the magnet and lens online. Theyre pretty easy and cheap to make but..
I agree with him. For the best VR phone experience, the Gear VR is the best.

is there some decent VR content on android yet? I got some nice visor from aliexpress but I only see shitty fart apps

We're using this to train astronauts before they go to the International Space Station.

Free is always nice

Riftcat, you can use it with SteamVR games but you need a pretty good internet connection. It works flawlessly with mine. I just use a controller and a micro usb to female usb.

here we go, this is what i was talking about

noice, thanks!

Internet or network?

Network more likely. I have pretty garbage service in my area ( 15 mbp up 2.5 down) and it lags really bad.

It's good for watching porn and the occasional youtube 360 video

Trying it now.
I have an AC access point and the thing looks like it works tethered over USB without data, so as far as I can tell it's local.
Was worried it'd be some bullshit DRM stuff for a bit.
Also, incase this fucks up, other than trinus what other VR streamers are there? Something that identifies as a headset preferably.

Riftcat is pretty decent, also I didnt suggest Trinus, that was someone else.

Having trouble with Riftcat, updating to Win10 now, here's hoping that'll fix things up.

And installed. Lemme try it out.

So Riftcat makes steamVR think a vive is plugged in but always fails at streaming. This is on two different phones on windows 7, 8, and 10. Also no movement.
Intugame gets video and mouse movement, KinoVR gets video.
So far nothing (other than maybe intu or kino, got them mixed up) detects and works as a VR headset.
With steamVR and openVR you'd think someone would have done it by now.
Fuck it, guess I'll have to.

I'm just going to 3d print a headset for my nexus 5. what should i look for as far as designs go? are bigger lenses always better? what about the usefulness of the magnetic button?
