Windows 10 can now run Ubuntu with a GUI and everything natively

Windows 10 can now run Ubuntu with a GUI and everything natively.

Give a single rational reason to continue using Linux as your base system after learning that.

You're already running most of it so might as well go all the way.

Not running Linux on top of windows gives me the advantage of eluding Microdick's botnet

>Your botnet comes with Ubuntu for FREE

Linux is ugly.

because I can run whatever loonix I want without Botnet 10 underneath it

I can always install shilldows in a VM if I want to waste my time gaymin

Because Ubuntu is shit andy ou should use a different linux

I don't think there is any linux running in this setup.
But you are right, unity is available for linux, so why use windows?

I don't think Iit can run everything. Probably the most commonly used stuff but surely there are caveats.

U have to install visual box thereafter from that u can install Linux (any)

looks like another XP mode but for Linux

what does this have to do with linux?

It essentially runs the client OS as a VM

True but because it's runs natively it us much smoother

>Windows 10 can now run Ubuntu with a GUI and everything natively.
how?

HOLY SHIT MICROSOFT INVENTED

THE X SERVER

spying
cannot be disabled
cannot be controlled unless you wont to receive win-updates

Try installing Wine, then run 16bit or lower program.
Post it here.

Or just install a 32bitOS
Also
>or lower
What are you talking about

>Windows 10 can now run Ubuntu with a GUI and everything natively.

Why you lying?

No matter how much good stuff they pile on top of it, no matter what *you* do, it will still spy you. Windows 10 was built to spy you. You cannot disable it. It's like a turd in a waffle cone with ice cream on top of it.

The only viable operating systems right now are Windows 7 without telemetry, and some Linux distros. Dunno about OS X as I don't use Macs.

Well, windows 3.1 was 16-bit for example. If you want to run any programs made for that or earlier. Admittedly a bit niche but it's conceivable someone might want to.

Then just install any 32bit windows, even win10 has NTVDM

>Ubuntu

But muh 64bit

>natively
what did he mean by this?

>Give a single rational reason to continue using Linux as your base system after learning that.

I would rather contain malware inside of a secure system, than contain a secure system inside of malware.

because windows uses the NT kernel which i'm not authorized to modify

> (OP)
>because windows uses the NT kernel which i'm not authorized to modify
Implying that normals actually give a fuck. Dipshit Sup Forumsent

is it faster than virtual box/vm ware?

Well no because the x server on Windows is pretty developmental

>normals
you're in the wrong place nigga

The Linux sub-system is in the beta stage so when the code is updated it should run smoother

He meant normie I guess it must have auto corrected

is that running in a virtual machine or do they use an emulation layer like Wine but reversed?

if it's the second they will be able to spy on you when using the built-in ubuntu system

Its a Linux sub-system so yeah it's kinda like a reverse wine

Why would I want Ubuntu ontop of Win 10? Why would I want Ubuntu?

>i don't need it so no one else does
get out

thank you. i really don't want to install windows 10 on my machine, but if the linux implementation gets better, i might get a windows 10 laptop at some point. dual booting is annoying and virtual box is pretty slow, but for now i'll stick to 8.1 + mint.

You are asserting that its all I need, please go on and tell me why I need it or even want it?

Not everyone on this board is some tech illerate trying linux for the first time.

So it's like crouton for Windows?

Ubuntu can run itself unto itself, why would I need Windows? Pointless extra layer of abstractions, security issues, proprietary cocks and preinstalled malware.

>running Ubuntu in Windows
Why not run Windows in Ubuntu if I absolutely have to?

i dont see the option in windows features OP so you are either lying or you mean its in one of the test builds and not windows 10 itsself

Its beta so I guess it's in the developer builds or something

install ubuntu

install win 10 vm

ubuntu vm within win 10 vm

winbuntuception

>Windows 10 can now run Linux on a VM
;^}

>Implying there is a 'Linux look'
You can literally make your system look however the fuck you want it to look

You don't have to use Windows 10.

>Windows can now run Ubuntu GUI
>give a single reason to continue using a better performing OS that isn't a Frankenstein monstrosity of multiple OSs where you don't have complete control of incoming/outgoing network traffic, instead of using Windows 10 with a different GUI

Are you retarded OP?
In any case, no thanks OP. I'll stick to dual-booting Windows 7 (post-font update, pre-Windows 10 cancer updates) with everything sandboxed except gayman,
and Debian KDE.
Fuck off.

The only reason to keep windows around anymore is vidja gaymes and the few programs that don't play nice with WINE yet
Face it, everyone on this board that uses windows as their main os is gamer trash

I don't think there is a gaymer excuse for Windows 10 user.
The only gayme that gave any relevance, and gave any exclusivity points, to Windows 10 was Fable.
And Fable was trashed by Microsoft along with the Dev team (RIP).
KEK

The only reason to keep linux around anymore is ricing and the few programs that don't play nice with WSL yet
Face it, everyone on this board that uses linux as their main os is ricer trash

>you have to go back to an old architecture in order to use old programs
cucked

Because Windows 10 is still a pile of shit that doesn't offer anything new.

Kek

The fact that Piece Of Shit 10 (pOS-10) requires Ubuntu as an extra to be remotely usable.

So if you're running an entire Ubuntu desktop how the fuck is this different than just installing a VM?

>wanting to run ugly ass unity
fuck off

Why would I run Linux in Windows if I have no use for Windows?

Besides, you'd have a point if it was Windows 8, but it's WIndows 10. Nothing they add will make it worth using.

>Ubuntu
>apt
>Unity

Then they can't play their gaymes

what DO devs use linux for that makes it so special? i understand using linux servers. but for development? surely its better to use windows.

>Botnet can now run Botnet with a GUI and everything running natively.
>Give a single reason to continue using freedom as your base system after learning that.

Well let's see here, windows does not have a package manager, a lot of dev tools just straight up don't work on windows, windows is not secure at all, windows forces updates potentially breaking dev environments, etc

Haha Hyper-V(tm)

Why even run Ubuntu when you are running Windows already. Linux is for poor people or unskilled ``programmers''.

This shit happen like 10 minutes ago.

The fucker tells me it needs to restart. Don't want to restart press cancel button. Two hours later the computer force restarts and I have two wait 20 mins for it to install the fucking updates.

How did this become the norm. I'm fucking mad right now. Reinstalling windows 7 tomorrow or even vista. OP you can keep your shit OS

shut the fuck up, nerd. I honestly hate Windows, but you can't blame your inability to use a computer properly, on Windows 10, dipshit.

When I hear this story I can only feel sorry for you because you are stupid. That heartbreaking story is completely your fault. Ignorance is not an excuse.

here's your (you)

>try to install w10
>hangs on downloading 0% forever
>hangs on "getting started" forever

it stinks

What the fuck are you guys talking about. The OS FORCES an update to be installed. It would not be a problem if I had an option to install the update when I powered off the computer later. How can you guys defend this.

Windows 8 can now run Windows 10 with a GUI and everything ""natively"".

Give a single rational reason to continue using Windows 10 as your base system after learning that.

I laughed

>Give a single rational reason to continue using Linux as your base system after learning that.
on the contrary,
give us a single rational reason to continue using Windows if you are already using the Linux userland
because good luck doing the magic things linux can do on windows

here's your (you)

>Give a single rational reason to continue using Linux as your base system after learning that.
I don't like Ubuntu and I don't like Windows.

The worst part of Windows was never the UI, although that was quite lacking, it was the slow as fuck kernel

Has Micropajeet fixed the font rendering yet?

I believe it's still in kernelspace

You clearly didn't do sufficient research into it. The ubuntu dev tool within windows 10 can NOT work properly with your windows OS drive.

will never get fixed

Everyone still chooses to keep it ugly. And the only decent one is an OS X clone.

...

What? Do you work for MS? The argument hasn't changed at all. I didn't move away from Windows because Linux had apps I wanted. I moved away because I wasn't getting my money's worth from Windows and I didn't want to support a shitty, unethical company.

Oh hey, does windows finally support kvm?

>Give a single rational reason to continue using Linux as your base system after learning that.
Because I don't like Unity

I've got a computer that's 100% dedicated to games. It's called the Xbone.

Bot nets, crappy windows stability, spy ware, viruses, windows costs money Linux is free, and the list goes on.

Lower resource footprint.

Running linux with a bunch of goodies at boot comes out to around 500mb. Running windows with equivalent goodies comes out to 2gb.

This. A million times this.

>computer
In the same way an abacus is a "calculator" ... technically sure, practically - fuck off.

The Xbone has all the components of a typical PC. The abacus isn't even electronic.

Not with that attitude it isn't
