This graph is bullshit, Win 10 is much better than both Win 8 and 8.1.

>win8.1 good
>win10 bad

na

windows 10 = windows 8 + forced botnet

It's missing 2000.

Pajeet 5 rupees have been dispatched to your Microsoft Account.

Poo in the loo.

How is win 8 bad? Improving in LITERALLY everything and changing GUI from disgusting to acceptable makes it worse than 7? Stop spouting normie memes.

What makes win 10 bad?
>inb4 botnet
hurr it's just crash dumps, but more forced than before

8.1 was bretty gud bruh.

Get the fuck out

Nice argument

You think all the literally millions of man-hours spent developing win 10 since win 8 was only spent on "forced botnet?"

>something is shit and I don't like but X is cool

Nice argument you got here m8 :°)

Metro ruined win 8. Would have been great otherwise

No
There's not a single thing that win 7 is better at than 8/8.1/10
>muh looks
You have shit taste

Not him but pretty much.
Windows 10 adds little in comparison other than WDDM 2 and botnet

Oh, I almost forgot how you're forced to only use metro interface and you absolutely cannot switch to classic desktop, right...

no u

Why are you on a tech board if you like Win10
Anyone with half a brain cell knows how garbage, broken, non optionally privacy invading, buggy and slow it is

Klub

ok

Just fags like 8/8.1/10

Sorry, I forgot that Windows 10 isn't technology.

Performance? Check benchmarks dip shit, performance wise it goes best 7 -> 8.1 -> 10 worst

So?
It's like going on a cookery forum and appreciating chicken that's marinated in trash can juices

I don't think you've seen /ck/ user...

Just fags like 7

>mom look i posted it again

Oh and SSD support, modern CPU features (Skylake shit), USB 3.0, 3.1 are so good at win 7, right?

7 fags actually believe this

>People still believe in the vista is bad meme even in the year of president donald trump 2016.

But Windows 95 was pretty good. It introduced the GUI concepts that Microsoft used all the way up to Windows 8, 32 bit shit natively, plug and play, GOODTIME.AVI, saw massive adoption, etc.
It's arguably Microsoft's key defining OS.
I'm a ganootard now, but if I had to be nostalgic about only one proprietary OS it would be 95.

Fuck, I forgot HOVER. Many-a-hour was spent in that.

Not true at all

>using gayming graphic performance as benchmark

Get off Sup Forums

win10 = win7 > all

there is no reason not to upgrade other than "hurrr me hate change me dumbass"

See Shill

Why are you on a tech board if you use windows?

8.1 was not good, stop trying to force some shitty graph because it fits your opinions.

Windows 95 and windows 98 were pretty-much the same operating system.

So were 2000 and XP, Vista and 7, 8 and 10 :^)

t. "I was born in 2004"

the chart doesn't exist
8,8.1, 10 are all fucking awful
it's when Microsoft became really retarded about their data collection and uses

If you're not retarded, you use Windows 7. End of discussion.

fixed that for you :°)

...

If Windows 8.1 counts as a separate OS, then so do Windows 10 version 1511 and Windows 10 Anniversary.

this "windows 8 and vista were actually good" meme really needs to die already

8/8.1 is just as much of a botnet as 10
Vista might have looked good for its time but it's fucking garbage, go run it in a VM if your memory needs refreshing

Windows Vista is literally just Windows 7. Vista hate is just a meme, probably the only meme successfully propagated by freetards.

Windows 8 isn't a botnet any more than Windows 7 is.

> Windows 10 version 1511
Nope, there's no Windows LTSB 1511, therefore it's not a major release.
> Windows 10 Anniversary
Most probably yes.

This "vista was bad" meme needs to die already. i used vista for years and had no problems. theres literally no difference between windows vista and windows 7 except for the little button on the bottom right to hide all windows.

i never used windows 8 but my best guess is that its the exact same as vista/7

> Vista hate is just a meme
> meme successfully propagated by freetards
I don't believe you're old enough to actually remember how it was.
computerworld.com/article/2537262/technology-law-regulation/microsoft-execs-struggled-with-vista-too--say-internal-e-mails.html

Ever notice how Windows 10 has multiple different GUIs for the menus? Ever notice how Windows 10 has TWO DIFFERENT FUCKING CONTROL PANELS THAT DO THE SAME THING.

All this windows shilling is actually making me want to make the switch over to penguin or macos desu

They were shit at launch just like every other Windows ever, including XP.
With Vista being released when the OEMs weren't ready with the drivers for it yet, after the kinks got ironed out it's basically the same as 7 but with the older version of Aero.
8 was just a huge fucking regression in every way and it took till 8.1 to make it usable.

>Win 7
Good
>Win 8.1
Better performance than 7
God Tier with Classic Shell
>Win 10
Almost the same performance as 8.1
Botnet
Basically a theme of Win 8.1
Laziest OS ever made (two control panels ffs)
Forced updates that often break your PC.

you should add botnet to 8
you should add laziest OS ever made to 8 (it started the trend)

>Botnet
bullshit
>Basically a theme of Win 8.1
literally every windows ever
>Laziest OS ever made (two control panels ffs)
advanced und novice
>Forced updates that often break your PC.
turn them off. also they never broke anything here

>windows 8 has no botnet
How dumb are people

nigger you dont even know what a botnet is

8 was just a half baked attempt to make a hybrid OS that works well on desktop and tablet, that ended up doing neither well
On the other hand 10 marked a fundamental shift in Microsoft's thinking, and the introduction of the new CEO
They no longer bother with beta testing, they've included all the data collection in the OS so the users are the beta testers.

Of course previous Windows also had back doors, but 10 is literally designed around spying on you and collecting everything it can on you.
And yes most of that has certainly been backported to 7 and 8 via updates, but it was developed for 10 first.

Vista SP1 is not an update, is an operating system

Botnet is not bullshit. Constantly sending data even when everything is turned off.
And I tried turning updates off, those don't do shit.
Anyways, I'm on 8.1 master race now.

MS added large icons in taskbar and called it Windows 7

But even on 8.1 HWinfo shows random 55B/s for a split second down/uploads, fucking botnets man, and I set my unlimited connection as "metered" too...

>Botnet is not bullshit. Constantly sending data even when everything is turned off.
you dont know how to use hosts files
>And I tried turning updates off, those don't do shit.
you dont know how to use hosts files
>Anyways, I'm on 8.1 master race now.
windows 10 is master race.

and again, you dont know what a botnet is

Just try to manage WiFi completely in either the metro or win32 UI alone. Good fucking luck.

Hover was amazing and the only reason to install the media pack.

>Win95 bad
>Win98 good
>No Win2k
Did you even try?

How much are you getting paid to shill for the shitty Indian FBI surveilled OS?

Windows bypasses hosts file

>Implying 98 was good before SE
>Implying XP was good before the first service pack
>Implying Vista was bad after the first service pack
>Implying 8.1 was significantly different from 8
>Implying 8 was bad
>Implying 10 is bad
Good work reposting the popular opinion without any thinking.
Win2k was enterprise, not consumer though lots of people used it on their PCs. Wasn't great for games though, which was what eleven year old me cared about and didn't understand.

>no win2k
Windows 2000 was so good, too.

The "old" way for managing a wi-fi connection was a fucking nightmare on all windows, Metro made it a thousand times better. Automatic scan > click desired AP > enter password > you're connected.

Windows XP SP1 is not an update, it's an operating system

>Win2k was enterprise, not consumer
Bullshit, it wasn't Win2k was for anyone who wasn't an idiot.

> Wasn't great for games though
Except it was, unless you were an idiot trying to run DOS games in Windows or were running shitty windows games.
Everything I wanted to play worked except for DOS games, most of which didn't work under the shitty win9x DOS anyway, so I just dual booted - manually.

That's not what he said.

He said try to completely manage a wifi connection in either UI, you can't.

Some AP's especially corporate and university AP's require manual configuration (typically due to a shitty design by committee setup like eduroam)
It's not Microsoft fault that these APs won't nicely autoconfigure, but it IS ms fault that you have to jump through to trillion hoops to manually configure an AP now.

Even Android and iOS do it better than Windows...
Hell Even Windows Phone does it better...

You can still do it just through the "old" way... It's not like the entire Control Panel shit disappeared, it was just duplicated with better design and features pandering to tech-idiots

windows does not bypass hosts file

Programming forced botnet, designing a cool looking interface, creating a cool wallpaper, and UML diagrams.

Vista is the last power user os Microsoft has and ever will make. Intel brought it down with their shit 32 bit cpus. Also love how people forget to mention how 7 is just Vista service pack 3 with shit cpu management and removed features.

> Sup Forums - Technology
Windows is not technology.

>Bullshit, it wasn't Win2k was for anyone who wasn't an idiot.
>en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_2000
>Four editions of Windows 2000 were released: Professional, Server, Advanced Server, and Datacenter Server
Win2k was not made for consumers even though consumers used it.
>Except it was, unless you were an idiot trying to run DOS games in Windows or were running shitty windows games.
Yeah, there was the bit where almost all games available back then were made for DOS based windows versions. The compatibility was not perfect between NT and DOS.

The vista hate meme only exists because idiots with 512MB RAM celery shitboxes updated when it really needed 2GB to work efficiently, which anyone with a half decent rig had.
Also 95 was much loved and well received, 98 was hated until the SE update and even then it was unstable and every enthusiast was already running 2k.

t. 36 y/o who actually used them all at the time.

The issue isn't that you can do it the old way, the issue is that you HAVE to do it the old way and also that you have to spend a week getting to that UI.

If MS wanted to update the wifi UI, which is fine, because it used to suck, they should have done the whole damn thing.

This isn't just a wifi issue windows 8/8.1/10 is all over the place for UI, sometimes it's old UI, sometimes it's an APP, sometimes they've split the functionality between the two and sometimes when they did that it becomes a major conflict.

Metro UI is just all over the fucking the place, it's not bad itself, that's not what we're complaining about, it that it's a fucking mix and match who knows where the fucking config option is setup now.

If it was either pure win32 or pure metro it would be fine.

i've been using windows 8.1 for 2 years now with classic shell and i'm really happy with it (even if it's the same as win7), i've been considering installing win10 but i looked in install-gentoo wiki and learned about the botnet thing.
>windows 10 sends RSA encrypted screenshots of your desktop, enjoy your loli porn

not the previous poster here.
he's right man, windows does bypass host file.
for example try bypassing bing.com, it'll still work because some domains are hardcoded in dlls

>windows pre NT
all shit
>windows nt
not consumer, alright for workstations at the time
>windows 2000
ok
>windows xp
shit
>windows vista
surprisingly good
>windows 7
ok, but shittier
>windows 8, 8.1, 8.1 update 2
better, almost good
>windows 10
disjointed 8, shit.

t. macfag/linuxfag
where the fuck would they store all that
a screenshot is 100x the size of text report
and windows 10 has like 200 million users

It should, the host file is a remnant of the very first TCP/IP implementation on Windows, which was directly pulled from 4.3BSD...

If you want to block domains, do it on your router, it's more reliable anyway.

>OS/2 Warp 4
Delicious

Fuck Microsoft, we could have had the BEST proprietary OS ever.

The only reason Linux got any support was due to MS being cunts to IBM...

Remember that, BillyG broke possibly the best proprietary OS of all time, even against Ballmer's wishes, because he had a bne with IBM.

>he's right man, windows does bypass host file.
it does not bypass the hosts file
>for example try bypassing bing.com, it'll still work because some domains are hardcoded in dlls
then youre doing it wrong

>where the fuck would they store all that
Don't bother arguing, these idiots don't listen to reason. IIRC the source is a dodgy Russian youtube video show a 1kb file as a full screenshot, which is impressive to say the least. If Microsoft are that good at compressing images, why haven't they licenced that tech to Canon/Nikon/Panasonic/Sony/etc.

It actually does now, because not all DNS is pulled from the old bsd code. mDNS, netbios, internal renaming, dns from peers, etc all contribute to total dn resolution now.

is that why i cant access any microsoft service anymore? ;)

You can't count Windows 8.1 as a separate entity that's better than Windows 8.

Even Vista had a service pack that fixed the shit that was wrong with it, but you don't count that.

You can't, no.
No MS service is advertised over mDNS and no non-internal MS netbios is advertised over netbios (Windows Servers are, but not Microsoft's internet connected servers no)

Internal DLL provided DN resolution is only provided for SYSTEM, not any real user.
>By design, it's supposed to be a security feature.

>You can't, no.
yes i can. dude what part of "IM BLOCKING THEIR SHIT" dont you get ?

I meant you can't access it...
Sorry if I was a little vague.

I mean't no you can't access MS services if add those domains to the host file and redriect them to 127.0.0.1 or equivalent, but that applications, especially services running as the SYSTEM user CAN.

anyway i blocked MS and im not getting any ips on my side anymore

Don't look on your PC, it's not reliable for checking its own network stack.

Check your router, or if you can't get a better router where you can.

>Check your router,
lol what do you think i did :) and looking at the pc is enough anyway because im not getting any updates

Where's Windows 2000?

Windows 10 is a clusterfuck but it runs with so many less problems than 8 or 8.1. The lack of any consistent design is stupid, but 10 doesn't melt your CPU when a user has the string "user" in their username.

I'll be hawkeye and get the last word though.
