ITT: we gather TLDRs and data for the launch in three hours.
Summary for mission: >SpaceX is targeting a July 18 (EDT) launch of its ninth Commercial Resupply Services mission (CRS-9) from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla. >The instantaneous launch window opens at 12:45am EDT (4:45 am UTC) on July 18, and a backup launch window opens at 12:00am EDT on July 20. Dragon will be deployed about 10 minutes after liftoff and attach to the ISS about two days later. >Following stage separation, the first stage of the Falcon 9 will attempt an experimental landing on Landing Zone 1 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla.
>inb4 experimental landing crashes and basement experts say it's the doom of spacex >inb4 but the earth isnt even round >inb4 op cant inb4
>bonus track: about to heat some pasta for dinner, captcha is pictures of pasta. dafuq.
Who gives a fuck? Take this garbage to this ain't cell phones or GPUs
Kayden Johnson
I do, and last time there was a launch bread with multiple others interested.
Xavier Evans
I'm interested OP, these threads are great, do you have the livestream link?
You can go back to bickering about consumer crap now, nobody is forcing you to lurk this thread.
Leo Miller
This is why Sup Forums sucks. Its full of poo in the loos who think there smart because they can complete lego tier tasks like coding and PC building. There is zero intellectual curiosity here
Daniel Gray
>There is zero intellectual curiosity here Sure sounds you might like science, try
Retard spotted, we care about the application of science to our every day lives - technology.
You wanna talk about the science itself go elsewhere.
Hunter Wright
Technology and applied sciences go beyond smartphones and gaymen boxes. Flying shit to space and back is a very applied, very practical application.
Aaron White
bmup?
Ian Hill
No, we already told you to take your stupid science shit to the correct subchan.
Brandon Russell
This launch includes the new code which can save the Dragon in case of a RUD
as a result, the safety zone is extended
Dylan Walker
>safety zone is extended Is there a land-based equivalent of that pesky boat troll?
Nicholas Thompson
>Technology ("science of craft", from Greek τέχνη, techne, "art, skill, cunning of hand"; and -λογία, -logia) is the collection of techniques, skills, methods and processes used in the production of goods or services or in the accomplishment of objectives, such as scientific investigation
This is about a particular instance of a process to develop very useful goods (betterer and recoverable spaceships and launchers) and services (space logistics). Moreso, it is not a simulation but a real, down-to-earth (or not kek) instance of said process. Ergo, you can hide this thread from yourself and kindly gtfo to your Sup Forumsaymen and Sup Forumspus if actual technology offends you.
Owen Richardson
What the hell does space even have to offer? There's literally nothing there LMAO
Camden Robinson
Ever heard of asteroid mining? There's tons upon tons of titanium, platinum, and gold out there, far more accessible than what has sunk into the Earth's core. Also having a backup for when the Earth gets roasted by the sun is a nice idea.
Also GPS.
Christopher Moore
cool, post on Sup Forums when I can buy my own asteroid mining kit. Til then keep it on /sci/
Easton Collins
Stop moving the goalpost every time you're refuted, this isn't Sup Forums. If you don't like the thread, skip it.
Nolan Cruz
If you don't like posting technology, don't post on Sup Forums
Andrew Howard
goto
Jackson Adams
Do we still get a view from the chase plane even though it isn't landing on the barge but bakc at KSC?
Connor Fisher
>ksc Don't jinx it user
My guess is there will be ground based cameras with a better internet pipe, so we will be able to witness the glorious touchdown/lithobraking in glorious HFR HD
Isaac Harris
I was just curious because the only reason the chase plane is seen during some of the barge attempts is because NASA is required to oversee the entire operation of the CRS missions, which includes the landing of the rocket.
Aiden Cruz
Weather, green, range safety, green.
Andrew Young
Sauce?
Cooper Nelson
Don't let these faggots stop you from trying to make Sup Forums great again. Current state of Sup Forums is cancer.
So we don't have to pay russia to get us into space anymore? Good.
Dominic Cruz
>That host's laptop My god, it's thicker than a ThinkPad.
t. ThinkPad user
Jose Taylor
Still dependent for a couple more years until manned missions begin.
Lucas Davis
They said they would be ready next year.
Brody Martinez
Has Elon Musk ever delivered on time?
Ryan Cooper
...
Angel Gray
1 MINUTE
Lucas Lewis
Take his estimate and add 50%. If in regards to Falcon Heavy, triple.
James Campbell
The main issue is paying less. Even without first stage recovery, a Falcon 9 launches are "only" around USD60M
Nathaniel Bell
What the fuck? I'm not gonna pay for a space trip unless it's like $30
Jaxson Ortiz
Then goto boris for USD200M
Caleb Jenkins
And we have offblast, and we're through Max Q. All nominal.
Ian Ramirez
NOMINAL O M I N A L
Landon Price
Man, this blows. I thought it was gonna blow up and crash into SpaceX headquarters.
Jacob Mitchell
They are getting way better at this.
Angel Thompson
We have a successful MECO, separation and flip. Boostback has started. Stage 2 propulsion looks good.
Joshua Thomas
Is there any reasonable reason the government couldn't have gotten prices down that far themselves? Seems like half of NASA's problems are that they spend billions developing a rocket then Congress tells them to scrap it.
William Bailey
Stage 1 boostback has shut down.
Wait for the landing, there's always hope.
Monopoly stagnation and government bureaucracy. All hail capitalism and competition.
Jacob Lopez
SpaceX HQ is on the other side of the country user
Julian Green
It can still happen
Nathaniel Morris
We are coming in. Keep on target. Entry burn started.
Ryder Gonzalez
COMMIES BTFO
Brody Brooks
Stage 1 is transonic
Nicholas Evans
>Stage 1 is trans
So progressive of SpaceX to have non-binary boosters
Jaxson Moore
I am fully erect.
Nolan Garcia
holy moly
Aiden Watson
They did it again.
Jonathan Jenkins
Beautiful landing. Dragon still on target.
Samuel Gomez
And we have a cottony soft touchdown, and Falcon 9 has stayed upright.
Actually, it's back on "this" side of the sound barrier, so it's cis-sonic now
Jaxon Turner
>mfw SpaceX employees were told not to chant USA anymore because it triggered liberals
Aiden Anderson
It takes less time to get into space than taking a shit.
Nicholas Lee
Does the Stage 2 have thrusters to deorbit it after Dragon detatches, or does it remain in orbit indefinitely?
Logan Davis
Love the sound of sonic booms.
Christopher Bailey
It'll take another 3 to 12 hours to reach ISS because of orbit synchronization fuckery, though.
Jonathan Sullivan
What's all that shit flying around in space? Debris?
Bentley Peterson
>Meanwhile, in space...
Dragon separation successful, solar array deployed
Neither. The very thin atmosphere slows it down and the orbit decays after some weeks, and it burns high up instead of snackbaring.
Tyler Ortiz
The sides of anons.
Nicholas Hughes
They all cluster together at L3 until there's enough to build a giant Musk-shaped robot
Austin Cruz
And there is the Pokemon reference.
Nolan Ortiz
To be honest, it's not a national accomplishment anymore like it was when NASA did it. Still, that's no excuse for giving in to any libcucks.
Juan Sullivan
Indeed, surely from the same mission judging from the low relative velocity. Probably frost, smoke particulate from the kerosene burning, and some
FUCK NOT A POKEMON JOKE
Nicholas Barnes
I would chant it just to see the marxists get angry.
And I'm an Italian in Argentina.
Samuel Robinson
...
Angel Clark
The only reason I'm conflicted is that I do long for the days when the nation came together and actually rallied around progress, and it's sad to see NASA become a shell of what it used to be. These days most of the actual engineering is done by contractors.
I'm still excited to see SpaceX accomplish great things, in part because I dream of working in aerospace once I graduate, but I don't see any reason other than gross mismanagement by the federal government that the nation's best and brightest would rather serve an eccentric South African billionaire than their own nation.
Jose Ortiz
Go read 'High Justice' by Pournelle
You'd really like it....
Nathan Martin
SpaceX is a product of capitalism, which is what the US is based on.
Celebrate that and spit on some communist fuckos.
Leo Cruz
>I dream of working in aerospace May we someday meet
>gross mismanagement by the federal government That is a given user. It's time to trim down the government into a watchman role. I hope here in Argentina Macri will achieve that.
Jonathan Sanders
welcome to neoliberalism
Brandon White
>I hope here in Argentina Macri will achieve that. the corrupt, fascist murderer businessman that just got more power to make even more money? the millions the K stole will be nothing after macri leaves... but of course, ignorant people don't know how shit works, why would you expect them to vote a decent politician...
Adam Hernandez
Well, it was that or the literal murderer of Zannini. We had to choose between the shiniest of two turds. >inb4 massa, the chosen puppet opposition
I think this actually belongs in hispachan/arg/
Carson Garcia
>hispachan >anything other than hot latina porn
Ethan Howard
4chin/int/ or Sup Forums then, but I don't think it belongs here
>inb4 arsat (which is underallocated and basically idle)
