That's a very good question OP. Probably the closest you can get to some sort of universal representation of free software are the ones who pioneered the movement.
Then again, do we have universal symbols for freedom in general?

There is symbolism for movements that want to take away freedoms, so it would make sense to have one for a movement that wants to get freedom back.
The open source initiative has a symbol too.
