/pcbg/ PC Building General

Testing Edition

Decided to make this general for the hell of it. Did the same for Smartphone General by making the general OP template skeleton it uses today almost a year ago so I decided to try my luck again.

>Where to start:

If this general is well received with Sup Forums then suggest more useful links.

Well have fun...

Don't know what GPU to go with at the moment. Thinking about a 480 nitro or something.

Fuck off to Lainchan! Makise Kurisu is the queen of Sup Forums.

So is the new GTX 1060 really just a meme?

>PC building

You mean PC assembling. You're not designing the motherboard or CPU. you're just putting some parts together like Legos and installing Windows from a cd.

Recommendations for a PSU that won't break the bank or start a house fire ?

Been thinking about the Evga Supernova 750 G2 , reviews say its good, but until now I havent really heard of Super Flower

All the G2 models are top notch. I've used them in several builds.

Why do you call it building when it's actually assembling?

alright, thats what I've been reading.
I havent looked at PSUs since I got my AX750 but its no longer compatible with new mobos and their pins.

Best price I am finding is $140 canadian for it, oh wells.

>assembling, not building

Noted

>cd
Ha!

>you're not mining or smelting the metal, why call it building ?

did I do it?

build
bJld/
verb
verb: build; 3rd person present: builds; past tense: built; past participle: built; gerund or present participle: building

1.
construct (something) by putting parts or material together.
"the ironworks were built in 1736"

>PNY SSD
>USB wireless adapter when you have a gorillion PCI-E slots to use
>Buying the R4 in %current_year%

>that cpu cooler
Go for something with a little more style, especially since you're getting a case with a window panel. Something like the dark rock or dark rock pro.

The rest is fine.
>that corsair fan
evga supernova 750 is fully modular, 80plus gold and cheaper. It's also absolutely excellent

This isn't even a case of autism. How the fuck can people mislabel shit like this?
>CPU cooler = fan
>Power supply = fan
Might as well call everything with spinny shit on it a fan.

Are you an anime fan?

Are you building my pc?

Thoughts on my current build, Sup Forums?

Reconsider your both your build and your reasons for living.

My build so far, I haven't settled on a cooler yet

>not about pcb
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

>you're not perfect, nobody's perfect.

Also this one as well.

1. Learn to English.
2. What's wrong with it?

1. Why do you need extra thermal paste?
2. Why do you need a motherboard that costs over $300?
3. No one needs a full tower.
4. Why do you have a thousand watt power supply for a single GPU build?
5. Why are you paying premium for sleeve bearing fans?
6. Noctuas are overpriced.
7. K70 is balls.
8. Razer headset
9. Buying Windows

its moronic, like troll post level stupid

the mobo looks like a custom added thing, eg he is keeping it and upgrading everything else.

Here is a better list for OP I suppose

pcpartpicker.com/list/bjb3bj

This is objecively the best $500 pc build on the market right now.

pcpartpicker.com/list/9hBCbj

how's this? it.pcpartpicker.com/list/NXFjyf
Ill buy after the free upgrade so cant get w7 code and upgrade to w10
still not sure about keyboard since eshop.gr that im buying from doesnt have that much options

Maybe consider a different chipset mobo, like the B150 to save money

You can't overclock the CPU so why bother with a z170 mobo ?
maybe consider getting faster ram with the savings ?

I need to replace my dying hard disk. Which SDD should I buy?

Get a EVGA B2 750 unless you REALLY need a gold rated psu. It's much cheaper with decent capacitors.

Thats a h170 mobo not z170 but ill check if the b150 supports faser ram

why 750?

the only non z170 mobo that had more than 2133 mhz ram was the asus b150 pro gaming and it is 140 euro so 20 more. If I get this and get faster ram ill spend more too. Is faster than 2133 mhz ram worth it?

I know that when FO4 came out apparently faster ram made a significant performance boost

eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2015-the-best-pc-hardware-for-fallout-4-4023
anandtech has a long write up about it too
anandtech.com/show/8959/ddr4-haswell-e-scaling-review-2133-to-3200-with-gskill-corsair-adata-and-crucial/

except their results showed that it made no difference overall.

I would say that if the timings stay the same, its worth spending the extra $20 and getting faster ram.
if the timings go higher with the speed (like they usually do) and are too expensive, then just stick with what youve got.

sorry for bein dumb what are timings

autism

are you a tard who calls everything with spinny shit on it a fan?
