I want a laptop strictly for writing and occasionally research.

Surface

13 Inch macbook air
13 rmbp
take your pick

Why not just get a bluetooth keyboard for your phone then?

Ideapad 100s

OP didn't say he was a homosexual degenerate though.

some kind of chromebook
they're cheap so you can buy two, for when some nig takes it

>chrome OS
>16GB internal storage
I'd rather hang myself

X220

>not writing in LaTeX with Vim running on a graphical terminal through the Linux framebuffer

This.

Maybe this too

>I'd rather hang myself
Please do.

I'm looking for a laptop too. It will be used primarily for studying/taking notes at uni as I have a gaymer desktop.

So far I've found Acer R3 1317 CIEW for $400AUD. Is there a laptop with 4g Ram that I can get for less than $400AUD?

Vim is the GOAT editor.

Check out the Lenovo G50 with that A8 APU. It usually goes for $250 on newegg or amazon here in burgerland. Even has an empty RAM slot so you can upgrade to 8GB RAM for like $15.

Eets will do. I also saw pic related in a store. Marked down because 'display model'. Is it a good deal or no?

Laptops with E1 APUs are really really shit. Are you dead sure you can't find a laptop with an A8-6410 APU in your price range?

I g50 4gb seems to retail for about $600 here in aus which is out of my price range. I just need something for typing notes and taking to the library. I would even cop 2gb ram but I've been warned against it here and in person.

I just found the Ideapad 110 for $450. It uses an intel N3060. I also found the G50 with A4 for $500.

Looks like the Acer R3 with N3050 is still my best bet at $400. I'm no good with processors though so let me knw if you think otherwise.

Used Thinkpad X220 or X230

Think pad rocks. Acer sucks.

All of those options are shit. Jesus christ, move out of australia lmao.

op here

found ThinkPad.
the website is hard to navigate.

is the x260 the current 12 inch laptop?

how's the x260?

Don't fall for the thinkpad meme, they're clunky outdated pieces of shit.

Buy a retina macbook pro

>clunky
>outdated
>pieces of shit
Nice bait mate

>Buy a retina macbook pro

Oh is it still cool to rip on Apple?
Neat...

acer's build quality is fucking trash, so if you're actually going to bring it on-the-go, purchase a machine from anyone else

lmao
>literally only for writing
have fun filling 16GB with text, i guess?

op here

now I'm more confused than ever

but a new ThinkPad looks cool I guess

You want a 12" macbook

Buy a bigger ssd and install a different linux. I think the cost will still be better than a lot of other options.

>Full keyboard

Yeah, no. I fucking hate this minimalist shit.

>chords for home, end, forward delete, pgup, pgdown
>blank spaces where at least two of those could be
>pointless eject button
>no right ctrl
Macbook? More like emacs-book.

Business laptops are normally made with fuller keyboards because they're used by cubicle drones that have spent most of their lives on dell workstations

it used to be for immature losers but then apple started going down the drain

>lol, fewer ports
>lol, just one port now - buy our USB hubs
>lol, mediocre refreshes
>lol, jony ive redesign
>lol, bendy phones
>lol, giant phones
>lol, lagsemite
>"lol, SIP" prevented nothing major, user-writable data remains the most targeted data

just look at their stocks

ideapad100s

do we even follow the rules on Sup Forums to any extent these days?

Not that I mind, consumer advice benefits everyone

The last rule I experienced was "no racism"

You can break every other one and the mods won't care.

They're shitposting justice warriors

>no racism

Okay, in practice, everything is allowed as long as nobody reports you. The mods that enforce the actual rules don't browse too often.
