>The U.S. Government has arrested the alleged owner of KickassTorrents, the world's largest torrent site. The 30-year-old Ukrainian was arrested in Poland today and is charged with criminal copyright infringement and money laundering. In addition, a federal court in Chicago has ordered the seizure of several KAT domain names.

>The 30-year-old Artem Vaulin, from Ukraine, was arrested today in Poland from where the United States has requested his extradition.

>In a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago, the owner is charged with conspiracy to commit criminal copyright infringement, conspiracy to commit money laundering, and two counts of criminal copyright infringement.

>The complaint further reveals that the feds posed as an advertiser, which revealed a bank account associated with the site.

>It also shows that Apple handed over personal details of Vaulin after the investigator cross-referenced an IP-address used for an iTunes transaction with an IP-address that was used to login to KAT’s Facebook account.

>“Records provided by Apple showed that [email protected] conducted an iTunes transaction using IP Address 109.86.226.203 on or about July 31, 2015. The same IP Address was used on the same day to login into the KAT Facebook,” the complaint reads.

>In addition to the arrest in Poland, the court also granted the seizure of a bank account associated with KickassTorrents, as well as several of the site’s domain names.

>“In an effort to evade law enforcement, Vaulin allegedly relied on servers located in countries around the world and moved his domains due to repeated seizures and civil lawsuits. His arrest in Poland, however, demonstrates again that cybercriminals can run, but they cannot hide from justice.”

>tfw no private tracker accounts

JUST

I don't know what to do with my life now.

masturbate to tumblr porn

I believe that there will always be piracy, but in a much, much smaller scale.

It was just too easy even for normies, now only people who knows their shit will be able to torrent stuff.

DMCA doesn't care about private tracker tbqh. KAT was just causing too much damage to the jews.

um... I'm a pleb and have been using kat for the past few years... wtf should I use now?

also how does one get an invite to a private tracker thing?

So seriously, where the fuck do we go now? I'm way too lazy to do the what interview honestly and I don't really want anything too obscure besides old movies so it's not like I ever needed PTP

I'm confused.

>also how does one get an invite to a private tracker thing?

You don't

tpb is an option.

>The complaint further reveals that the feds posed as an advertiser, which revealed a bank account associated with the site.
>posed as an advertiser

>iTunes transaction with an IP-address that was used to login to KAT’s Facebook account.
>Facebook account

Very bad OPSEC.

tpb my friend

Are you people fucking retarded? There are a million torrent sites. This is literally nothing.

No public tracker could even touch KAT

>this is literally nothing

First off, that's the wrong use of the word 'literally'.

Second, I care about the owner getting arrested. Why did Poland listen to the U.S.? This is very worrying.

This. KAT had more active users than any other public torrent site out there, even more than the piratebay.

Shit man I used to download a ton of old action movies when I had nothing to do at night.

My friday nights will be shit now since I will only have cheap beer to give me company.

>The 30-year-old Artem Vaulin, from Ukraine, was arrested today in Poland from where the United States has requested his extradition.
I feel sad that our government does this.

They should not extradite him to the US.

I really hope that this is bait

Something seems fishy, what makes the owner of a site as large as KAT to be his own social media manager?

Do you reccommend qbit and its built in python search?

What seedboxes do the /ptg/cucks use?

Is there any chance of it being resurrected by some other server?

Where will all those users go some new thing will come along

arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2016/07/kickasstorrents-alleged-founder-artem-vaulin-arrested-in-poland/

>HSI and IRS looked into the historical hosting records of KAT and found that for about 3.5 years, ending in January 2016, the operation was hosted out of Chicago, Illinois, which explains why the case is now being prosecuted out of the Northern District of Illinois. The site also used a Canadian hosting service—the two American agencies also used MLAT to get an image of the Canadian server.

I have a private tracker, but I like using KAT

god i hate her.
I bet she smells like mayo and rust

>there are people on Sup Forums that don't use private trackers

How is this even possible?

Fuck this. I was IN on private trackers since a decade ago with tvtorrents, bitgamer, and some others. They're all dead now and they were the last good ones so I just stuck with public trackers like Kat. I was the big time seeders who had 100+GB seedbox and racked up 1TB of seed credit for the community. Bitgamer was great and had the nicest, most mature community that actually cared about its scene uploads. I have no need to pirate games anymore since I make enough money for that, but I would never give a cent to the hollywood jews who want $30 for a fucking bluray movie.

I still have an account with blackcat gamers or whatever the fuck it was but where is it? I haven't even checked or looked but last I checked maybe 4 years ago it was a shit community with autistic owners who didn't know what they were doing. Most of the scene rips weren't there and the seed credits you got just didn't seem worth it to me after years of building up my cred on bitgamer.

It's a damn shame, I literally just downloaded a movie 2 days ago off kat.ph and now it's gone. Gotta find another place, this time I'll double down to spite the rich greedy hollywood jews.

I mean, I guess we can go back to TPB...

F

add me on steam steamnick= 415233

trade links with you.

Isn't it great how the U.S. Government bends over backwards to the elite hollywood jews and their precious IP? Yet when it comes to technological secrets, the Chinks just shamelessly steal it and sell it all within their own markets. Why? Because Hollywood has more power, and they love to ally with the Chinese lobby since the chinks buy up their movies as well.

why would you host that shit in the US for gods sake, first his shitty OPSEC now this, what the fuck is wrong with him fucking retard

typo, steamnick = 412533

Steam? This is Sup Forums. No one here should be using that.

dont want to dump links public.

you posted this on Sup Forums too.

There's literally 0 point in private trackers.
Afraid of the feds? Private trackers prevent you from using tor since by design, all your IPs are corroborated. If you use a VPN, they can just ask the VPN to release your IP. Do you really think even """logless""" VPNs don't know your IP? Even if they really were logless, the feds would either compel the operators to log YOU, or they would simply bug the server. Easy peasy.

At least public trackers let you access torrents through tor and then attempt to download through i2psnark. However, old torrents simply won't work.

You think intellectual property faggots aren't all over every single ptracker perhaps? If you can get in, so can someone paid to get in.

Then you have retarded shit like ipt who literally post their own torrents to other sites, mixing public and private swarms. Thanks to that, you get the same tracking and privacy as public torrents even if you use your private tracker ipt.

Interested in "quality" or looking for "rare" shit? You won't find anything of good quality in ptrackers because only popular shit (i.e. lowest common denominator-tier crap) is getting seeded (since that gives free good boy points unlike actual quality stuff). Rare stuff is actually also rarely on ptrackers in the first place. Sure, there are the odd one or two rare torrents on there but chances are you'll find the same shit as on any public tracker.

Bottom line is that you pay something (be it time - waiting for free good boy points; or money - paying for a seedbox or even for an invite if you're that much of a cuck) for effectively nothing.

steamnick dude. give me an irc, and ill trade links

your mom does.

Is there a mirror with all the last torrent magnet links before it was shutdown?
a snap shot basically with everything?
This was done with the pirate bay multiple times
Soooooo Im guessing there is one?
Whats the URL bros

retard hosted the site in the US for a while
most copyrighted content worth a fuck is from the US

tard is fucked

Nice try FBI

Does anyone have kat .sqlite archive?

because poland wants to keep US military equipment in its borders so they listen to what the US says and demands from them

and whatever is on private trackers you can find on rutracker.org.

would FBI say rope the niggers, race war now, down with kikes.

Question. Why does the US want his extradiction? He is from the Ukraine and he was arrested in poland.
Why does the US want's to put their dick into everything?

Answer my fucking question you virgin nerd

Have you ever actually been on a private tracker? Sites like what.cd have enthusiasts, and you're thus more likely to find rare releases there because the people there care about the community (as well as their image there), which leads to rare and quality uploads. In addition, there are things in place such as .log files to ensure rips are done in high quality, something you can not expect from any public site. And this doesn't even get at the organization that you get given the Gazelle system that is in place at sites like those.

As always, its the jews.

Yes, if they needed info, you can't fool us
Bamboozled again, fbi

>It also shows that Apple handed over personal details of Vaulin after the investigator cross-referenced an IP-address used for an iTunes transaction with an IP-address that was used to login to KAT’s Facebook account.

Dammit. The boss sucks gay nigger dick again and I pissed in his coffee

This is sadly true and I've been saying this for the past 4 years since the big boy private trackers went down. It's not even worth it.

What we need is a decentralized system. It's been talked about for years but never actually implemented. It's great and all these private trackers exist, but they'll be taken down soon and their run time is so short it doesn't give enough time to establish a large enough database like the old private trackers once did. It's equivalent to the feds nuking entire cities, and new ones springing up. They just take years to build back up before they're destroyed again and again.

I had over 1TB of content off bitgamer seeding everyday, accumulated over 5 years. Some time around 2010 I got paranoid and just used a seedbox which was better anyway since it helped me get my game rips up waaay faster and if anyone asked I would seed some older files. Then when it got shut down and Blackhat games or gizelle came along, I just said fuck it, because there was no way to transfer my files to their shitty sites and autists kept fucking up the old rips that were incompatible with mine. It would've taken me more years to build back what I established at the old trackers and I felt that it just wasn't worth it anymore.

What is she doing? Demonstrating her cum-guzzling skills?

No worries, when one giant falls another emerges to replace him. BTJunkie anyone? It feels like KAT gained fame right around the time it went down.

>visit kat.cr
>it's down
>what.cd admin is still not caught
>2016

Whatman, you already step down as what.cd's administrator, but you can't run from justice.

>he thinks to himself as he tugs his shirt downwards

yes i can

youtube.com/watch?v=YzSgzHu4Q5g

The Pirate Bay, Rarbg.to etc.
There's thousands of torrent sites.

pirate bay is shit now...

the private tracker community is so insufferable that i will never be a part of them
i'd pay a 1-time member ship fee or a monthly membership fee
than do some sort of autistic test or beg for an invite or have to seed 2847GB worth of data

all to be surrounded by people who have possibly the worst personalities in the world
people who, in some weird turn of events, have let torrents & piracy CONSUME THEIR LIVES

yeah nah fuck that

something will fill the void, KAT may be gone, but by next week a new better site will rise, a PUBLIC site for the PUBLIC

I have about 8TB of animu, 2TB of roms, almost a TB of eromango, almost a TB of academic books, and about 2TB of games all backed up. I don't see myself ever finishing this in my entire lifetime, so I think I'm set for the great purge in 5 years.

I just used this site cause my usual site didnt have the torrent (flstudio)...

the pirate bay is just a shell, it mostly just collects & mirrors magnet links from other active sites, its not a real torrent site anymore, its been beat to death

>i'd pay a 1-time member ship fee or a monthly membership fee
you can do this with iptorrents, which is widely regarded as the best general purpose private tracker by a huge margin

see also rutracker which is free (signup only)

>What we need is a decentralized system

A decentralized system was already tried, and it worked well for a long time to the frustration of the powers that be. Remember GNUtella? It was defeated by staggering *floods* of low quality content.

I can imagine the reaction of prosecutors ordering the "shutdown" of frostwire.

>going back to a honeypot
Enjoy your cease and desist letter

anime isn't real and hope that harddrive fails on you.

Define "real."

I agree with this.
Problem with pure decentralized systems :

1. Trust
2. Malware
3. Quality

Whenever I searched for .exe in emule, it's probably malware, and at one time I downloaded e-book, it's actually porn.

Oh, and you can't take down any malware there because it's decentralized in the first place.

Download Kodi.

>anime isn't real

here we go
>Afraid of the feds? Private trackers prevent you from using tor since by design,
i address this here:
tl;dr the feds don't care about grandma torrenting death metal, they want to go after the people hosting the death metal torrent site
additionally, torrentfreak.com/ip-address-not-person-140324/

>You think intellectual property faggots aren't all over every single ptracker perhaps?
the biggest private music tracker has about 150k users and has been up for at least 7 years. the biggest movie tracker has been up for roughly as long and has about 35k users. why haven't they been taken down yet? what even is this point aside from fear-mongering?

>Then you have retarded shit like ipt who literally post their own torrents to other sites, mixing public and private swarms.
agreed, ipt is trash. quality private trackers do as much as they can to separate themselves from public trackers

>You won't find anything of good quality in ptrackers
lmao now you're reaching. define quality.

>Bottom line is that you pay something for effectively nothing.
so a bigger library than netflix, spotify, amazon, tidal, hulu, and itunes combined, with better organization, no drm, available in the best quality possible, is nothing? what the fuck do you want lmao

ipt is a public tracker with a private frontend, effectively. There's even less point in going for ipt than actual private trackers.

Every flac download i have ever gotten from public sites, have cue files with them.

>quality
Only you oink'ers argue about the 2 kb transcode.

>rare
Nice try. Never
oink has always, and will always be an Sup Forums quality circle jerk about their waifus, to what oinkers sit in all day in irc arguing about semetics.

You can use web-of-trust systems: You can only get a referral to some content when both ends add each others as friends (alt: if one end is set to public and the other adds it as a friend). You can have transport and search via friend-of-friend through the network this way.

This means that if someone gives you bad content, you can simply unfriend them and it's effectively banned for you. You can have metanetworks such as channels and collections in a similar way.

That's basically what retroshare does.

>have to seed 2847GB of data
This is what really turns me off to PTs. My life as a super leech was p cozy.
>all to be surrounded by people who have possibly the worst personalities in the world
What do you mean by this? Is it a super abrasive community?

State private trackers
Buyable tokens for upload credit
Free leech torrents
Global free leech days/weekends

So are they throwing so much around?

So they can keep people in their community and not have it go back to a few hundred users again

So further more, private trackers offer nothing and are only a hassle on your downloading habits.

>why haven't they been taken down yet?
Because it's significantly more profitable to keep it up while people are being sent DMCAs and the likes.

>so a bigger library [...]
Nice fallacy. I'm not sure what the name of that fallacy is. Could someone identify it for me? It's similar to a strawman but probably has a more specific name.

I think you nailed it with that list. decentralizing is interstingly self-defeating.

Maybe a some kind of karma system would be helpful for the next time.

>anime isn't real

>>“Records provided by Apple showed that [email protected] conducted an iTunes transaction using IP Address 109.86.226.203 on or about July 31, 2015. The same IP Address was used on the same day to login into the KAT Facebook,” the complaint reads.
lol

>pays for music on itunes
>gets arrested because of it

Man you're right about rare old stuff sometimes not even old - how the fuck I'm supposed to find it now.

Most of the times kat magically had it.

>owner of the largest torrent website unironically used facebook and paid for music from itunes and literally got arrested because of it
You can't make this shit up

I use a server in Amsterdam and ssh my data to my home. I know my isp can see what IP I'm sshing how safe do you think it is?

So, apple agrees to crack the owner of a torrent site, but not of a literal terrorist?

delete

The government already has all the information they want on you.

It's not like it matters anyway, because the government doesn't have enough resources to track down every neckbeard who torrents movies and music.

>private companies working together to get citizens arrested for laws that they basically wrote

Every day we move one step closer to a cyber punk dystopia.

Precisely

Being able to compel a corporation to use its resources for the public good would set a very bad precedent for (((certain people))).

Works good for me.

The government doesn't care, it's the Jews of Hollywood that do

Be careful, that's actual hatespeak now

I will check it out, thanks bro.

I hope I can have some rambo, chuck norris, al pacino and so on else I can't sleep on my friday alcoholic nights.

>download a software which sole source of downloads via plugins is scraping streaming sites for 128p garbled videos labeled "1080p pls belib"

Apple gives all of the terrorist information on their server to the FBI, just like in kat.cr's owner case.

They'll refuse to plant backdoor on their system or unlock kat.cr's iphone though.
