How do you endure linux bullshit...

how do you endure linux bullshit? why do you allow this piece of shit software to turn your powerful pc into a chromebook?

I enjoy every bit of it. A lot of my programs operate in the terminal and I can use solely my keyboard for most of them.

Go back to Winshit wincuck.

50 grams of stallman's foot dead skin have been deposited into your shilling jar
enjoy your meal

Because it's the best software development environment.
The only reason I have windows installed on my laptop is so that I have the battery life required to SSH into my Linux servers for a whole day.

Better than rupees Pajeet. Now go Poo in the Loo please.

there's a reason that the desktop threads are filled with linux users and the battlestation threads are filled with windows users

(they are just pretending to use linux, don't fall for the meme)

You obviously have never run Ubuntu. It's easier and better than Windows.

what programs are they btw?

Linux shills do like to mention that windows is only for games, but frequently get vague about what they do on linux, it's usually "programming" but what are you programming?

except it's not.

Except it is.

>I can't use google, I'm only here to troll Linux users.

I needed to run an ubuntu partition to fix an EMC erase bug on my samsung tablet, so chucked in an old hdd into the hotswap and stuck ubuntu on it.

upon first boot, gpu reverted to onboard graphics, my mouse stopped working, my internet connection was limited to 5mb for some unknown reason, usb hub didn't work and no sound at all, under windows all this worked.

ubuntu sure is amazing and easy.

Dual booting. Linux is basically a toy. You just load up windows when you want to get real work done or when you want to play games.

>I don't actually have a usage case for Linux.

Thank you for proving my point.

>a toy.
The most popular server OS in the world. Must be a toy.

See, I find the opposite true.
I load up windows to play games, but boot into Linux when I want to get any work done.

>Some shit is that bad it can't even be given away for free
You mean like Windows 10?
>Not even 2%
2% what? Market share? Linux is extremely popular among servers, computer clusters, "super computers", and general enterprise environments.
>>b-b-b-but muh desktop share
Then I might as well ridicule Mac for having a low desktop market share, or Windows for having an extremely low smartphone market share. Or Microsoft's Xbox for getting BTFO by Playstation, which uses a Unix-like architecture.
> turn your powerful pc into a chromebook?
ChromeOS is literally just a web browser. Linux is much more .. but since this is obvious bait i won't even elaborate on that.
>how do you endure linux bullshit?
works on my machine

Try a other distro Wincuck.

on desktop it is.

I love how linux fanboys always parrot that shit even when it doesn't apply. We're talking about desktops, not servers, 'tard.

nah, windows works fine, freetard.

I honestly don't understand why Sup Forums doesn't ban Microsoft shills. You shills are literally comparing a free and open source OS to one that costs money, and arguing the case that we should all be paying Satya Nadella for his spyware and an OS designed with an arrogant disregard for the purposes of the user.

I meant programs I've installed on Gentoo that allow for more efficient and easier usage of my OS. Windows feels clunky as fuck now.

Enjoy being cucked by Microshaft.

(cont)
I, for one, will never be caught giving my dollars or my support to Microsoft after the decades of monopoly practices, shitty support, and bad customer experience they've consistently delivered.

>Windows feels clunky as fuck now.
This. I have to do so much work maintaining Windows just so that it's usable on a daily basis.
Ubuntu on the other hand, just runs almost flawlessly, and requires next to no maintenance besides running apt-get update occasionally.

>an arrogant disregard for the purposes of the user.

you mean what linux shills do? windows users aren't free to use windows?

I hope chad from wisconsin can work on those issues you've been having with your distro, maybe he'd feel more compelled if you donated some cash his way, $5 should do it.

Tell me about your "real work".

can't shill for a free OS. read a fucking book, summerfag.

what exactly are you doing to windows to break it that often?

Yes you can, you're just doing it for free.

...

Pajeet can you please go back to the loo.

It's not 'breaking'. It's just that it doesn't work the way that I want it to. Updating shitty software, making sure that settings haven't reverted in the latest updates, remembering to manually update windows before it automatically kicks in updates on my 3Mbps connection blocking all other network traffic.
Windows is a pain in the ass.

>I've never needed to install drivers for anything in Windows.

Better than getting my expensive compute task terminated because windows has an update.

It's great, I love Linux. Also I use Windows too and it loves so much to mess with my HDD, check'em bad sectors. Linux never did this to me, but yeah, thanks Microsoft for keeping my HDD healthy with defragmentation.

the drivers are available, no need to fart around in some repo that's no longer maintained.

Merriam-Webster? fuck, you really are trying very hard.

Oh well, i'm done with this thread, here's what I learned
>linux users believe in software freedom, but not my freedom to use the software I want.
>linux users don't really know how to use windows very well at all, and blame it for their own lack of knowledge
>linux shills are doing it for free, and they really don't know why
>it infuriates them to the point of madness inducing rage that people don't want to change how they use a computer to move to their hipster OS for no reason other than because
>linux users are cheapasses with no cash, hence the ancient thinkpads and free as in free beer OS.

stay safe kids.

I'm not using Ubuntu but I have to say that is good. Theme it and it will look amazing. 16.04.1 just got released. :)

Here are some terminal programs I used recently

vim
ncmpcpp
gcc
mps-youtube
mpv
ffmpeg
imagemagick
ssh

also I use the terminal for file managment (moving, copying, deleting, etc) as well as for managing and upgrading packages, and probably more things I'm forgetting right now

It's useful as fuck fampai

this. also
>usb hub not working
that's really, really weird... wonder if was using a very old version of ubuntu or something

USB hubs often cause problems regardless of operating system. They were a constant source of headaches when I did tech support.

Wrong on quite a few, but you tried

This. I wanted to use youtube-dl on Windows 10 and every fucking time I wanted to open it, youtube-dl exited instantly. I realised I fucked up and need to go back to Linux somehow, there are some things I just love and makes my life easier. So today I dualbooted Arch with Windows 8.1. I am happy. Windows is mostly for school, I rarely boot but sometimes it is useful.

>real work
>windows
how do you even do this. It doesn't even have a real package manager, and it doesn't have grep.

Some people use Microsoft Office

I had some weird experience with my internet being slower on debian when I ran it on my desktop.

When I got a thinkpad and threw xubuntu on it the experience has been fucking fantastic though. Programming stuff for my CE classes JUST FUCKING WORKS in the terminal, no IDE or anything.

I have also come around to like the unix philosophy of having a program do one thing and one thing really well and have a simple configuration file that saves all settings is really nice, I just don't like how linux devs treat your home folder like Windows Games treat your Documents folder.

all those hidden folders in ~, some programs have stuff in .config, others don't, i don't know.

I have fallen in love with mpv and its simple interface

>slower on debian
strange.. internet feels a lot faster on nearly every linux distro I have used than on windows.

Windows has the advantage of professional software like Photoshop or Sony Vegas. Microsoft didn't create these things, other companies did. Windows is not horrible but it has lots of flaws and Windows 10 doesn't give a shit about the user, it's the Advertising OS. Everytime I uninstalled shit like Get Office or bullshit like this, they installed themselves in no time. Privacy is inexistent. If you read their privacy policy, you can see that they gather a ton of data for advertising purposes. Trying to make a closed-source OS to be private is a joke. Security is still shit and the free antiviruses like Avast will contribute even more to the data mining and install with them bloatware. I experienced these myself, I try to keep things as minimal as I can and use common sense. Linux proved to be amazing for me.

It's easy to make it run on Linux, but it will not be that comfortable. The best is to run it in a virtual machine with Windoss XP, works great and it's fast. If you don't want that, try Wine or dualboot like me. If you don't want to dualboot, then stay with Windows.

Goofing Off in the command line != real work.

Making memes in PS != real work

...

SE Linux is GREATER THAN any bullshit MS or OSX crap you can throw my way. With SE Linux I have total control over my network. Want to serve up your webpage over port 5551? Good luck with Windows or OSX cunt. SE Linux is for a true computer professional. If you are using anything other than Linux you are a filthy normie. Go install gentoo and get off of my Sup Forums

s/he said it didn't work at all.

are you lost, by chance? let me remind you about this board
>Sup Forums - Technology

His real work is shitpost on /dsg/ and be hated by literally everyone there, it has been his work for like 5 years now. Luci please kill yourself, thank you.

youtube.com/watch?v=UN1PIelq8MI

Exactly. Linux is a great back-end, server, but a shitty desktop usage os.

You see these fuckers like to try and shove square things into round holes. It mimics their role in society and in social situations.

They just don't fit. So they become masochistic.

Thus , the 'well might as well take my technical self and have it mirror my real-life self" behavior and choices.

This applies to most things, their diet, their entertainment interests...clothing..hygiene..etc.

>shitty desktop usage os
Wrong

LibreOffice and Google Docs exist, the only justification is excel since Excel actually can't be beat.

>Security is still shit and the free antiviruses like Avast will contribute even more to the data mining and install with them bloatware. I experienced these myself, I try to keep things as minimal as I can and use common sense

And this is where linux excels, you don't need bloatware/adware antivirus because you can trust that the repositories are clean, and some distros the repositories don't have nonfree software.

Microsoft doesn't even put a real toolchain in their OS, you have to install the 2 gigabytes of visual studio with C# (whether or not you are even interested in using C#), the alternative being installing cygwin which is just a piece of shit that hangs all the time and you might as well be using a POSIX OS instead of virtualizing one for the features. Docker hardly has native support for windows, yet it's THE software for companies making development/deployment environments.

And seriously if your argument is going to be muh photoshop muh video rendering which you probably don't even do, there's OS X - A POSIX compliant operating system that has A REAL TOOLCHAIN and gets tons of native support from software developers.

literally use a windows pc everyday for work, do not deal with this shit at all.

Are you retarded? How many threads get made for a windows update issue? Like a real issue. Not the win10 hate threads(not on win10, no favoritism shown). Yet compare that to how many, 'how the fuck do I do this shit on my linux install'

Linux is the clunky one, you guys just act like all the shit you do, all the steps we have all seen posted as advice when people are in a fucked state is no big deal..it is funny to read.

How do you smell today..right now? You stink right?

I showered this morning before work, so I smell fine

>LibreOffice
Problem with that is the same document will not always display the same in word, for example, as it would in writer, and Word is the gold standard so you're kind of stuck with it.

You can trust downloads from official sites as much as you can trust repositories. Shit still happens.

This. It's what makes Linux a toy. Have the time it is more figuring out how to get something to work than actually using it. However, when you need to get shit done, you don't have time for that shit.

Org mode >>>>> excel.

>bwaaaaaaaah there's a high learning curve when switching OS's
Jesus Christ, do you think every Linux user spends their day bumbling around trying to fix X? Because I bet you unironically do.

This is the bias of someone who grew up using Windows and accepts its quirks and broken parts as givens.

Hey winshills,

How many people do you think you're convincing to switch to Windows with your terrible arguments?

Hint: 0

What the fuck I hate windows now.

Nah, it's just the result of better UIs. Also, it doesn't help that arguments can very so much from command to command. You shouldn't need to poke around in the man pages for 5 minutes or so every time you need to run a new command.

>You shouldn't need to poke around in the man pages for 5 minutes or so every time you need to run a new command.
Wow, you have to read documentation to learn how to use a new command, I hate Linux now

This is a retarded argument. Are you trying to tell me you remember all the fucking ludicrous syntax to Powershell commands in Windows?

Linux is a walk in the park compared to that shit.

5 minutes? Who taught you to read, sir?

>replying to an obvious troll

It's self-perpetuating. They "program" to get their OS to function better so they can use their OS to program to get their OS to function better.

Case in point. Lot of shit no one cares about. Congratulations, you use terminal to download a video or watch a video. I'll just double-click instead, thanks.

>Hey linshills

>How many people do you think you've convinced to switch to Linux over the past two decades?

>Hint: 0

>Actually less than that; Linux's desktop share has shrunk over the recent years with OS X's increasing popularity

Machine learning models.

>They "program"
Nobody ever said that and the rest of your post is pure retardation

>implying user is shilling
It's free software my man...

It seriously hurts my head reading these threads, I think this is the second time someone has claimed you need to program Linux or some shit like that.

Because shit breaks on me with Windows all the fucking time. It's a mess that gets messier the longer you use it. Any OS that calls for monthly reinstalls to maintain reasonable usage is a piece of shit not suitable to package alongside aid for starving African nations.

Linux is nice because ninety percent of all distros are targeted at idiots. Until you rip out the super user and start changing shit built in, it's basically foolproof. I use my computer for shitposting, programming (JVM and CLI mean I can compile Windows programs on Linux without any shit), and file management (porn, pirated movies, etc). For all of those, Linux makes Windows feel like a toy.

Monthly reinstalls are literally user error or hardware failing

>All this projection

>Monthly reinstalls are literally the bit-bucket filling up or the logfile wrapping.
Fixed.
